2001, saw Tool for the 1st time. Saw them 2 more times in 2002 during the Lateralus tour. If you had the chance to see Tool between 1990 and 2002 you witnessed MJK at his finest. His live performances had a surreal and otherworldly quality to them. I'm so f'n happy I got to witness those EPIC moments. Don't get me wrong, MJK is still one of THE BEST lead singers in rock, he's mellowed like a fine ass wine and still kills it live as seen by many including myself on the Fear tour. Those first 12 years of the bands existence however, legendary indeed.
@@romaretaylor9953 totally right . The first time i was them live in Europe was in 1993 / Touring with Henry Rollins in festivals than on concert hall tours the following years ( 94 , 96 , 98 )
I'm glad I saw them at that time. The most memorable of the shows was 2001, a week or the week Lateralus came out, with King Crimson at a 5000 seater Theater. I was 4th row. My hearing is still damaged
Agree 1000%. Watching Maynard slow-motion-“goblining” around the stage like one of their claymation characters inspired all of us to “move” like that while listening to them. I know I still do 39 years later, ha ha, seriously
I'm not a huge Tool fan, although Aenima is probably one of my favourite albums of all-time. I did finally get to see them live last year, and it was hands down one of the greatest performances I've ever seen by any band in my entire life, and I've seen a lot of shows in my time.
I love how he varies this when he played it live. I liked the "if I really dont feel I thing at aaaaaaaalllllllllllllllllll" part better than the studio. And when he does the voice fluctuations on the "alive" part
My first tool show was in 96, Maynard used to be front and center, kids these days only get his voice. That's too bad. We used to get all of his movements. It was awesome!!!
Tool were our Gods in the 90's and early 2000's. The Opiate to Lateralus era was completely mind blowing. Im glad i saw them! It felt like during the early Lateralus years, everything was at its peak.
This show was the year I was born this show happened approximately 18 years ago!!! This song is one of my favorite songs. i find it strangely beautiful... This may hurt a little but it's something you'll get used to.. . relax slip away....
How can it mean anything to me If I really don't feel anything at all? Fuck it's sad that Maynard is the ONLY person out there that knows exactly what I'm going through..He really has opened my heart. Just wish more people would give his message a chance
It's a song about fisting it's not that deep. Or I guess it is but not that kind of deep. Another kind of deep. Like physically deep. Not psychologically deep.
WOW!!! Maynard's performence gave me goosebumps this is Stinkfist with all they're heart & soul into it! Ive seen TOOL 23 times and about to go see em 2 more in a month in Kingston then Toronto Back 2 back shows in Ontario! Canucks love us Some TOOL!!!!!
The whole of AEnima as an album has a cold and haunting feel to it. They have not created that in any other album, and this is why this is my favourite album.
Great live performance! Love when musicians change the way they perform their songs live ever so slightly making them, oftentimes, more enjoyable to listen to as compared to their studio version. 02:46 Love that guitar sound! 🤘🏻
i saw this concert only at the ReMac Center in San Diego...Looks totally the same.. I was front row in front of Adam Jones.... Totally freaked me out the whole time... So badass!.. I will never forget the orange spots all over Maynard! Like the other guy said NEVER get tired of Tool!

Love Maynard's dancing at 3:15

Thanks for uploading some previous live

After that hip surgery he's not been dancing
1:56 that was the perfect delivery of "know im alive"

Maynard is really an incredible vocalist. He makes this song look effortlessly easy to perform, all while having a rhythmic BM.

Something has to change
Undeniable dilemma
Boredom's not a burden anyone should bear
Constant over stimulation numbs me
But I would not want you any other way
Just not enough, I need more
Nothing seems to satisfy
I said, I don't want it, I just need it
To breathe, to feel, to know I'm alive
Finger deep within the borderline
Show me that you love me and that we belong together
Relax, turn around and take my hand
I can help you change
Tired moments into pleasure
Say the word and we'll be
Well upon our way, blend and balance
Pain and comfort, deep within you
Till you will not want me any other way
But it's not enough, I need more
Nothing seems to satisfy
I said, I don't want it, I just need it
To breathe, to feel, to know I'm alive
Knuckle deep inside the borderline
This may hurt a little but it's something you'll get used to
Relax, slip away
Something kinda sad about
The way that things have come to be
Desensitized to everything
What became of subtlety?
How can this mean anything to me
If I really don't feel anything at all? Yeah
I'll keep digging
Till I feel something
Elbow deep inside the borderline
Show me that you love me and that we belong together
Shoulder deep within the borderline
Relax, turn around and take my hand
this dance should go viral
Best fuckin song ever. KING MAYNARD
It's absolutely amazing what energy comes out of a Tool song.
you know your a badass when you can come out in your boxers
I can't stop watching Maynard "dance" at the beginning...its like..mesmerizing haha
I miss when Maynard was upfront
AMAZING PERFOMANCE!! 😎😎
3:55-4:07 Got the craziest chills right there. Maynard is without a doubt the greatest vocalist and Tool is without a doubt the greatest band.
If you see people cover this song sometimes the singers feel like they have to mimic Maynard’s dance moves too 😂
Even if some people don't understand you I guarantee they will feel you. You put on a show that is like no other.
Fucking amazing! My first time seeing Tool perform live! The band is tight and Maynard is fucking mesmerizing! I can’t take my eyes off him 😂
amazing shout and sound!
Best voice in history, change my mind
Layne Staley
I love Tool and this era of the band but the best male singer is Devin Townsend no contest.
