Nice setup! Are you going to rent cans out too? It's fairly easy money since you already have the equipment. I rent my dumpsters and shuffle them between junk removal jobs. I have a 3/4 ton pickup + standard rail trailer setup. That Isuzu would be nice to have in those tight spots/narrow streets around here.
Dude thank you! I’ve wanted an overview of the switch n go’s but haven’t seen any in person since covid started and there’s zero detailed RUclips videos on it. I don’t want it for dumpsters but it definitely helps!!
Steve your local transfer station hours can definitely make it a challenge to run a business like ours. With hours like that you almost have to have a dumpster type of system just as keep the workflow going. Once you get 2 or 3 trucks like this you almost need a 4th one just to run the dumpsters from the office to the transfer station to get them all emptied.
Awesome review! In looking at the Switch n go website the electric hoist has 6 max lifts. Is that 6 lifts at 15k lbs? And how many lifts are you doing per day on average? Your work and channel are inspiring!
I think it says 5 but you could be right with 6. It is referring to the max amount 15k lifts. You will never do that with these trucks and if you plan on it, you shouldn't buy this system lol
Steve, assuming someone is just starting in junk removal and would have to purchase a vehicle - what are your thoughts on buying a new NPR as your first truck vs a new 2500 and dump trailer? I'm speaking mostly of costs and your personal experiences. I know you made a video a year ago but have your preferences changed?
@@SteveConroy1 wonder if the diesel version holds more weight or same as gas. We looking for new trailer that's can hold 10k lbs. But this setup would be nice because we could hold same just no trailer.
@@SteveConroy1 AZ is a lot different. Larger streets. Only 1 time I couldn't get down someone drive way. That's was because of the slope of the driveway and had 20ft cargo trailer. Dump trailer would had made it with not problem.
Not much at all if any. It all depends on what body you're interested in putting on your dump truck. This is a great question and I will dive deeper with a video!
How long did it take to actually be profitable? I been in it for almost 2 years. Fuel and increased dump fees are killing me. People already complain of my prices and I'm going broke. Hard to compete with weekend warriors that don't have insurance, licenses, or taxes to pay. 💀
Your service area and part of the country you’re in are dictating that. If you have a bunch of guys in pick up trucks driving around advertising for junk removal AND customers are calling them, you’ve lost the battle. It’s one thing to have guys operating illegally with their pick up but it’s even worse to have customers willing to pay them.
@@SteveConroy1 Yeah its not just this industry around here either. There's cleaning "businesses" charging $20/hr. Zero account for overhead. Seen guys give up on welding businesses because people refuse to pay. Nobody has an issue paying 800% markup on alcohol though?!?! 🤡

I love that switch and go system since you can serve more customers per day. Good for hauling contruction debris from project sites.
Excellent video. Big thanks for sharing. Getting one of these soon as i expand.

Rental will take a back seat to junk removal. The cans will be rented as needed
Love in It! great info!
I used to use dish soap on my roll-off rails to make the can go on a little easier. When it rained the rail would be cleaned.

Yup! There are a few avenues I have tried out and this one so far is working the best, not the smoothest, but the best
Great video. What wheel base is your truck?
Hey awesome video
Question what’s the cost on the whole set up and a Isuzu truck?
Are you using Switch & Go dumpsters? Can you get cans made to fit your hoist? Nice set-up!
You can probably find someone to make a switch n go style dumpster for you but I just buy the SNG ones
Great video Steve. Do you know if the Switch n Go uses standard rail? Will the cans work with other roll-offs? Thanks man
You can only use SNG dumpsters/bodys with the SNG system
How is the switch and go still working for you? I'm looking to install a setup soon.

Is that a 132in Wheelbase truck? Shopping for mine and looking at 132 vs 150 WB.
got quoted $81,000 for the 6.6 gas Chevy 4500 chassis and dump body (14.5 cubic yard) build from JRA trucks. Sheesh. prices are crazy right now
Prices are wild right now. Used market is even worse.
That's rough, I was hoping to make enough to get a down payment this spring/summer for one. Now I might have to grind it out for longer.
