    Great insight. We ordered a JRA truck in September and were due to take delivery this month. Our old pickup blew up on us in October, so we were forced to buy a new truck immediately. Ended up getting a nuts deal on a super low-mile Ram 2500. Not ideal, but saved 10's of thousands going this route.

    we just did our first upgrade this past week. started last may with a 5.3L 1500 silverado and a 6x12 utility trailer. saved up and now upgraded to a ram 2500 6.4 hemi and a 83x14 dump trailer. huge time saver at the dump. the days of offloading by hand are overrrr

    • @Diego-Delgado
      @Diego-Delgado 2 года назад

      @@zachbingham4109 yup. We do alot of remodel/construction debris clean up. There are times we spend 30-45 minutes at the dump unloading 3000lbs by hand. First job with the dump trailer took us about 3 minutes and we were gone. Really is a huge level up. Especially if you have employees. I got really sick and tired of paying employees to handle the same material two times. Wasn't making sense. So had to change.

    I am starting out with a 97 F350 7.3L landscape dump body with 160K on the clock. Picked it up for $3500 spent about $2000 to get it where I wanted. I find the pre emission diesels are the way to go. For a cab over the Isuzu is a good deal, both diesel and gas. Cheap to fix, and parts are available. I would love a new Isuzu, but not in the budget yet. In the end, as you mentioned do the best with what you have.

    Another great video and really solid advice. I had a 2018 F150 twin turbo and because of the way everything was with Covid, I got lucky, and sold it for more money than I paid for it. I turned around and bought a 2007 Toyota 5.7 L v8 (with 120k miles) and a brand new dump trailer with 6 foot exterior walls (outside flat for marketing). It's not the perfect setup because I am going to have trouble, and will lose, some jobs because I won't be able to get to them (busy downtown areas) but....to all of the points Steve made in this video I wanted to prove the business model, first....then make the investment. The trailer looks sick! We just got our first few customers this past week because of the trailer.
    Diesel vs Gas, I think it depends on what you are hauling. If you are doing lots of demo: dirt, concrete, heavy construction material then diesel might be better. If you are doing mostly household items, gas is less maintenance....this comes from my mechanic as I told him that I'll be in the market and wanted to get his two cents.
    Steve, thanks for the videos. It's great to watch you grow your business and awesome that you are willing to share what you know.

    Glad you're honest and not saying your truck is what you need or the best truck you can have. Everyone has their own opinion and you seam to know this. We still truck and trailers because we need the weight rating. Diesels are great for when you need to keep the motor running long periods of time. Sometimes we keep it running in the summer to keep it cool inside when its 117° outside. Fools good when you jump back in. Also it even gets better gas miles then wife's JKU when traveling long distances ( 02 Duramax ). We still thinking of the best setup for the future for us. But it would need to be able to tow empty trailers at the minimum for faster house clean out. Thanks for the insight from this video of what to look for

    Keep going with the gas jobs. I had a employee ask me which tank did i want him to put diesel in. I was so scared. I told him there is only one tank for diesel the other is for Def. He said that's why I asked. I'm glad he asked. But it's gonna happen. I've filled and old truck with gas and had to drop the tank and I was lucky it was just that.

    If it's GM. Go with used and only 4l80 transmission or even Allison. Kodiaks are great used. Ford trucks have the best interior. 2002-03 if it's ford. The v10 is a monster. If you got a lot of money then the newer 6.0 diesel ERA is the best interior and capabilities combo. Always try to get a model thats a few years into engine and transmission combination. I won't show all of the things I've learned but soon I'll make my own videos. Now. I love the cummins but it's new engines are throw away engines. Dodge, sterling 5500 are amazing. The next best pro tip is... get on rock auto before you buy. Is there a large availability of parts? Awesome because the truck can stay on the road if so. Final thing to check.. GOOGLE! Type: model, year and then problems. Check reddit to.

    Hey Steve. I want to ask a question specific to Massachusetts and couldn’t find a better video to ask this. Where would you say are the best dumps to go to if you’re doing business in the Boston area. I want to start doing junk removal in the Revere, Chelsea, Malden, East Boston area. From what I have gathered, small guys in this area are either going to James G Grant in Hyde Park or driving way outside the area. Is driving an hour away to dump just how it is in the Boston area? Love your videos and any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
