A quick question, Where does the superliner amtrak run on the route and whats the consist? I was told amtrak doesn't typically run up Tehachapi Pass or across Mojave, but the station in Bakersfield has me confused.
The Amtrak would be most prototypical on the Cajon sub. The consist would be the bicentennial unit, a pair of phase 3 genesis, baggage, 2 sleepers, diner, lounge, and four coaches.The station at Bakersfield is the southern most terminus on the Amtrak San Joaquin route, and is not used by any long distance trains.Two Amtrak trains use the Cajon and Needles Sub. Trains 3 and 4, the Southwest Chief.
In real life, this is correct. There is a panel behind the driver seat that seems to be the on/off set up. But it still does not work in the simulator and must be started by menu.
Well, each has their own strengths. Run 8 has the realistic train handling, stable multiplayer, and decent graphics. Though most are put off by the prices of the limited content, no steam locomotives, and the difficulty learning the sim. Train Simulator has open community, odds are you currently can get nearly any route and any train you want out of that game, but I feel it's lacking in the physics and functionality, I had many many glitches when playing it. Trainz is a great all around building sim that lets loose on the way you build things and makes them easy to build. My issue with Trainz though is the download speed throttling that makes you pay them to get normal download speeds back, and the recent addition of Trainz: A New Era was a real let down for me as it didn't improve on anything except graphics and textures that sometimes didn't work properly. I heard there was multiplayer for it, but I still can't get that to work. Finally Train Sim World is sort of a guilty pleasure for me. The game is still poorly optimized, lacks proper signal tutorials, lacking content, and in some cases it's missing realistic train operating. However, I found myself looking past most of that in favor of the attention to detail they put in the trains, it feels like you really learn how to run the locomotive because very button works and you can fiddle with all of them to find out what they do. Theres a lot more detail to get into here but I leave it like this. Run 8 is my favorite for realistic train operations with other people. Train Simulator, while it's really good for graphics and content, lacks quality for me so I don't play it. Trainz from 2004 up to 2010 has all been wonderful to build in and just make a model railroad, so to speak. Trainz: A New Era is an optimized minor upgrade that is trying to take your money at every turn. Then finally Train Sim World is poorly optimized, lacking content and correct training, but feels amazing to run. Hope this helps.
It does have single player, I was in single player when I made this video here. But the best you'll get in tutorials is PDF reading documents, help from the Run 8 community, and just plain old trial and error messing with the trains, menu's, and button combinations. Hey, please help me with Run 8! I need to put a train on track(a locomotive and 10 freight cars for example), and ride to another location. The dispatcher panel and setting radio is confusing. How to setup signals and track switches for a particular journey...
I don't own a copy of Run8 yet, but man, does this look good. You did such a great job explaining how to get up and running. My only worry is that if I buy the sim, that I won't have the patience to actually work with it. I tend to have too many hobbies going at once, and my interest jumps between them on any given day. I currently own Trainz 'TANE' Sp3 and TS2019, which I have enjoyed running the Metro North Hudson line, but the realism is just not there like it is here in Run8. I'm afraid that, for better or for worse, by the end of this week, I will have my own copy of Run8. You should get a commission for anyone watching your vid and goes to purchase the sim afterwards. . When you're on the Run 8 website, there should be a link on the left labeled "MAIN V2 PROGRAM WHICH INCLUDES BNSF MOJAVE SUB AND BNSF NEEDLES SUB" Just make sure you're on the home page and just scroll down a bit while looking to the left of all the update news. If I buy Run8 today, do I have to back through the website and download all of the updates or is the current downloadable version up to date?
Will the Head End Power (HEP) work with refregerated boxcars on freight trains?
So I bought it and ran it and at first it was fine then i ran again and now building and trees other than tracks is purple help!
