This has to be one of the best videos I’ve watched on the whole of RUclips recently. To hear such a knowledgeable and professional driver. She really added an extra detail and she clearly loves her job.
Can you make this game compatible with the turtle beach velocity one flight stick on xbox SX. Because the stick has two levers, it would make controlling the trains a lot more realistic.
I play TSW4 and really liked this video. Jess you seem a very nice person. It was great to see a real driver play the game i like. Thankyou for your time.
I am a retired driver and have been using train simulation from BVE in the 90's to OpenBVE, Trainsimulator and now Train Sim World 4 and have always enjoyed them and experiencing the technical progress that has gone with them.
Totally agree with every word there chap! Love the class 101, especially in TSW... No cold draughts around your legs, 40 years on and I'm paying for it now, me knees are knackered.
@@milepost326 The Class 47's were my favourite locos but they became the worst for us where drivers were sitting in bin bags or having a coat or jacket over their knees.
I hope Dovetail actually take her feedback on board and correct the things that are wrong with the setup of the train to make it even more realistic. It is nice to get an insight to an actual driver on a HST.
They might not be ‘wrong’ to be fair. Particularly with software stuff, I wonder if it’s a bit like aeroplanes where companies can tailor the base software package to their own requirements which is why there would be a few differences on here.
@@kiwiavgeek yeah I thought that after I wrote it! Maybe it’s a licence thing where they can’t change anything, who knows. Just trying to avoid saying it’s wrong but because they got it wrong!
This is really cool. Seeing her complete concentration and awareness on a sim gives me confidence that drivers on real trains are seriously paying attention! Normal gamers would be wuffing down a vegan poke bowl, texting and petting the cat while they drive, putting all the virtual passengers at risk!
Technically, you can drive a car without a license if you know how to work with the vehicle. A train wouldn't be that far off, but insurance wise a hell.
Just have this video appearing in my home feed... I love how a railway company decides to put their staff to the test with a Train Sim game series. Good luck to you all, hope the series progresses to something amazing!
Her knowledge of her trains and layout of her nation is absolutely incredible. she knows every little detail and can explain it in a way everyone can understand. Love from Sweden
Would love to see more content like this from Jess, it feels like a real privilege to see what goes into train driving that so many of us take for granted.
Excellent Video! Learned a few things. Hopefully Part 2 has safety systems turned on. DTG have them isolated by default to help new players with no train driving knowledge. A bit of a nuisance for the rest of us but hopefully one day they will give us an option to change the default status.
@MrJimheeren Safety systems aren't isolated by default in real trains though. Setting up the AWS/TPWS is literally just a case of switching the desk in and cancelling the horn. It's something I find a little bit annoying too, that there's no way to default to them being on.
Lovely idea, letting a real pro do their work , but on a sim. Jess is a bit cautious at first, but after awhile, the professional in her really comes out. Good stuff 👍
You really need to be switched on driving a train- so many things drivers need to do - so impressed with Jess's knowledge and ability hope all drivers are like this and they deserve to be paid well.
That's really informative. I would like to see dovetail take on any feedback and make the simulation as accurate as possible. It would be great to have a route knowledge mode, giving the appropriate points to look for along the route.
This driver rocks 🤟 We need her in TSW4 please pay her to make an advanced driving tutorial for the game 🙏 Thank you for showing us how the pro's drive ❤
As a US engineer, it's pretty remarkable to hear how many similarities there are between the way we run. Mainly in the physical characteristic knowledge of the territory. It's funny to see her looking for braking points that aren't in the game but are most certainly there for her every day IRL
Thank you to Jess for playing the game. I am still new and it felt good to watch her set up the cab and tell us how similar/dissimilar the game train is from the real thing.
So cool to see a person play a simulator of their real life job. There isn't many people who are willing to play a simulator of their real life work , there are many farmers in real life that won't play the farming simulators that are out. With railroad employees it's completely different they love what they do and can't get enough of being around trains.....me having a big love for trains i definitely would be playing the simulators on my down time if i was a railroad engineer 😁
This is amazing! I've watched dozens of 'real' aircraft pilots telling their impressions on simulated aircrafts, but this is the first time ever, that I can see a real train driver doing such a thing on a train simulator! Thank you both (the author and of course the gentle Jess) for the experience. Ah, and apologies for the horrid use of the english vocabulary and choice of words. English is not my main language, unfortunately… Cheers.
5:23 No, you are not stuck in 1.5 . This is actually one of the things that annoy me in TSW (and before that in TSC), distances are straight line distances and not track distance (at least above a mile this seems to be the case). Normally, especially on UK and most German routes not really a problem as it generally is close to the real distance. But certain mountain routes in Germany and the USA where you "double back" a lot due to S curves, the distance goes down, up, down, up... highly annoying as you never have an idea of how far it actually is.
My son really loves Train Sim World 4 and he'd loved to actually go into train driving as a job. Many thanks to Dovetail Games for making such an accurate sim for fans of trains 👏👏👏❤👍
Nice one, Jess. Great to relate a fantastic sim to a real life professional driver. Very entertaining and informative,; your route knowledge is fantastic
Good video that..👍🏼 as a signaller i play this game and still wish id made the move to s driver years ago, well done LNER 👏 please have a driver recruitment opportunity opportunity available soon 🙏
Now the true test for this channel would be to test a experienced train simulation player if they can operate the real thing on a test track (not in service of course).
I’ve spent way too much time playing train sim world 3, 4 and soon 5! The LNER 801 class is a lot of fun! But deffo love seeing the old intercitys every now and then!
Really enjoyed watching this, really interesting to hear from an actual driver. I've always wanted to work on the trains/railways but don't know how to get started
At 33:24, if the DRA is set whilst moving and the Driver is applying power using the power brake controller, no power will be applied to the train. Simply set the power brake controller back to the "0" position and reapply power.
I enjoyed that I've driven on the East Coast Main Line route in Train Sim World 4 I had driven the Azuma its nice to drive plus I did drive Flying Scotsman I love the route between Peterborough and Doncaster I would love to come and have a cab ride from on one of the Azuma's from Kings Cross to York some day this year
Hi there , awesome game isn't it TSW4 . I play this route quit often , and I love the journey , its so relaxing as a driver .... iv learned some new stuff I never new about train life irl... thank you
Any chance of getting the game on PC and maybe some peripherals (or simple mouse and keyboard) for another videos? For better graphics fidelity and less joystick/camera jumps - I know Jess didn't do it on purpose but it was slightly distracting :)
Loved this, as a bus driver it's great to show our technical ability and remind people we always look after you and are not just sat at the front end watching Netflix and playing on our phones
Having played the previous stuttering train simulators and after reading all the negative reviews about TSW4, I was not expecting much to be honest. I had a play last night and my first experience was enjoyable even on my 10 year old potato pc. The major gripe seems to be the way the scenery loads, even on the latest PC's. I have always relied on a program called Dimmdrive to pre load routes and assets into RAM before playing which helped with the stutters a lot. I am hoping Dovetail are looking into this and will fix it soon. I also hope that they improve the steam experience and add some historic scenery. Great to hear the experiences of a real driver and I will stay tuned for more.
Be careful she will need regular breaks and if disturbed she can restart. Don't forget to pay her extremely well or she will struggle on £70k. Make sure a taxi is booked and paid for for when she finishes. 😊
nice video, but i think it would be easier to use a computer with a mouse, so that as a driver you can click things a bit more naturally, idd struggle with what if i got to do the same thing with things i drive myself, i prefer mouse over xbox/ps controller
I see they have controller drift I had this on my Xbox controller it’s annoying very annoying I just brought a new one lol, but anyway more importantly this video is welcomed love this ❤
My 6 year old loves playing train sim world 4 and loves the azuma and lost his mind when he saw the game has got the azuma in it. He keeps asking me if he can have a look in the cab of a real azuma
Make sure to check out part 2 with the safety systems active! ruclips.net/video/f4PnEGcs64A/видео.html
The smile when she found the horn button knowing there are no repercussions from mashing it in-game is brilliant

Who wouldn’t want to be a gaming channel? 🎮
I can’t complain
I would watch Lner gaming
...and we love it!
I have a crazy amount of time on TSW, can i now make the video "Can A Simulator Drive A Real Train"?
To hear an actual driver explain things and differences is amazing. to hear her thought process and route knowledge helps tremendously
please make this a trend for all companies haha, can't wait for easyJet captain plays Microsoft flight simulator
Have a look at A320 sim pilot and A330 driver. Both are commercial airline pilots. Lewdix Gaming is a flight instructor who has flown commercially.
There are professional pilots already with RUclips channels showcasing their skills….
I want to see real Canadian Pacific engineers drive the SearchlightSimulations CP AC4400CW Golden Beaver on TSC.

It's dvt. Not gonna happen. There's a broken tutorial since tsw2 from a dlc that costs 30 dollars and it's still not fixed in tsw4.
Nothing better to get a simulation game right than work with people actually doing the job and get as much feedback as you can. Really nice!

It's something I find a little bit annoying too, that there's no way to default to them being on.
@@dislecsyk991 yeah that would be a good option. It’s especially annoying in some German locos where you have to switch cabs to activate PZB and Sifa
You can turn on the safety systems if you find the switches.
On PC, Ctrl+Enter switches them all on, so it's no biggie - I agree with Dovetail Games policy of making it easier for inexperienced players.
