    This was super helpful. I'm still dialing in my time attack build on my FRS so it was great to hear that the SS1 coilovers are being used here - might grab some myself! The Korean low density foam tape trick is genius! I'm going to try it myself to reduce hood flutter.

    Very good car. I really appreciate men who keep engine stock but focus on grip/brake/handling. It’s all about balance and learning how to drive a car properly.

    The 86 platform has some serious potential. Great video man.
    P.S whoever installed that hood vent needs a different job🥴

    Ive got the ts brz it comes withe brembos and better suspension. All this needs is a header s85 tune and it beats many hi powered cars on the track and its heaps more fun

      To piggyback on this, EP3 would be nice to see as there's been some mention of the steering rack issues in both the RSX and EP3

      @@freewulf_1214 Not really steering rack issues but rather bump steer and steering rack flex which are mounted high vs the other honda chassis's. Motoiq has a good video showcasing the mods they did on the EP3 to solve this issue.

    The 86 is too unreliable to become an ultimate track car. It’s a mass produced flat four that can only with stand so much lateral G. It’s not a Porsche engine.

    • @NapalmPineapple
      @NapalmPineapple Год назад +7

      I disagree massively. Plenty of owners have gotten good mileage out of there 86/BRZ. It’s a better alternative to a Miata for actual adults, cheaper then an S2k for sure

    • @DelinquentDJ
      @DelinquentDJ Год назад +10

      Gabe is at the track quite literally every week, I haven't seen any problems with his car. He just won 3rd overall in Street class time attack this year👀

    • @NapalmPineapple
      @NapalmPineapple Год назад

      @@DelinquentDJ I knew a guy locally that got about 120k mi out of his before he wrecked it unfortunately. About 1/3rd of the mileage was track use. Imo that’s pretty good for a high compression flat 4 motor. I wouldn’t be surprised if in a few years some make it to almost 200k.

      If you do have a GT3, your engine is reliable. If you do have a basical 911 carrera (996, 997) keep your car as far as possible from a track: it is clearly unreliable (IMS and cylinder fail issues).
      86 is reliable. It can be more reliable if you add an oil cooler to drop temperature to acceptable level and a baffled oil pan.
      We dont talk about the best car for track but about the best first (entry) car for track. I dont think a Porsche is a budget car for track.

      It’s solid if you stay stock-ish power level. Engine does not take boost well. I don’t have any issues with my FRS/brz, but also run the reliability mods on stock power. Oil cooler/radiator/fuel pump/fuel starvation door. I’m also pretty anal about maintenance.
