We have pow wows here on the mainland, but I love the graceful and fluid movements of the hula. I always saw movies with scantily clad teeny boppers in grass skirts on the beach but I am learning that this dance is so much more and includes everyone. It would be a wonderful way for our senior citizens to exercise. Aloha from someone who is proud of her Cherokee heritage.
The state should consider building a bigger facility. Despite the festival/competition growing so much over the years...a new “arena” type facility that can facilitate such a vast event is obviously much needed. It could also benefit the County of Hawaii as well. Just saying.
Snowbird Bento, are you related to Deborahline Whitford? I remember her parents and they were such loving people back when Debbie and I were younger in late 60s early 70s. I met up with mom again last year at Makaha care home! Take care of you & ohana
