First Dr. Alexis, your skin is gorgeous! And you are stunning! Second, this was such a wonderful explanation of the basics of niacinamide. And th a nk you for explaining the differences in these two brands, I use Good Molecules Niacinamide Toner which I've found works wonders for me because it has licorice root, arbutin & vit C. It's lovely, but so many of my subscribers ask me about these 2 brands so now I have your very informative video to send them to! Thank you so much!

The Inkey List is my favourite. It’s well rounded and my skin loves it. I got The Ordinary’s as well but my skin reacted to it. I can handle it now but it took me some time and when I use it, I’m very careful and I only use a small drop of it (I use up to three small drops of The Inkey List niacinamide). But both are good, affordable products. I love them.

I know The Ordinary’s version is better for people who have super oily skin, but does anyone else think the “mattified” finish it gives you after it’s applied isn’t even a good type of matte? Like it makes your skin look tight and dull and like it got sucked dry of any sign of moisture. It’s not some healthy glow from within type of look. Idk maybe it’s just me. Not that I can even get it to work after I put moisturizer on top without it starting to pill 😤

  • @blue_anemone

Wow mind blown. So I was unable to tolerate Ordinary's aha/bha peel and stopped using it. But my skin didn't feel like it was getting the exfoliation it needed from the mandelic acid, and I was using it frequently probably to the point of wasting it. Around the same time, I started the mandelic, about a month ago I also started their niacinamide + zinc. Well, yesterday I tried the aha/bha again. I used to only be able to leave it on a few minutes, last time I just couldn't keep it on at all. Rinsing it off in seconds. Mind you I was still using manual exfoliation with a silicone electric scrubber on a couple of days, so I also stopped using that. Yesterday, when I put the aha/bha on I, forgot it was on. I had no burning sensation at all. I had no idea what was happening until I watched the video today. She's right, if you have trouble tolerating acids, this is the one. I am starting retinol in the evening too this week and chucking the mandelic. I'm just not feeling it...or use as a lip exfoliant..dunno...maybe it was the wrong time for that active but i was just so meh to annoyed with it. And even though I really messed up with retinol and acids and burned myself years ago, i know not to use them at the same time now. Older, wiser, and tired of zits lol. I think retinol is an advanced skincare ingredient. You gotta use it just right or you can mess yourself up. Anyway, I'm glad that I am starting the retinol after the niacinamide now after seeing this video.

Thank you so much for the video. So glad I found your channel! Can I use a combination of a liquid BHA, niacinamide, and vitamin C in the morning or should I not be mixing these ingredients together?

Thanks for explaining that im 53yrs & us it & love it & my 20yr old uses it & loves it👍 but i think its unusual for 2 totally different ages brackets to get benifits from the same product cos our skin is in need of different maintanance but i understand better now🙏

This was so informative and thorough. Can you please review BLACK girl and Versed sunscreen? I am of the darker hue and dont wear make up. Making it extremely difficult to combat the Cast/Ash that mineral sunscreens leave. However, ive been indoctrinated to believe that Chemical sunscreen that in most instances are not healthy for skin in the long run but are less expensive. The trial and error of finding a mineral sunscreen that is viable for my skin is becoming financially unbearable.

Thank you so much for this video! It was full of such great information; WOW! I love this ingredient as well, but didn’t realize it helps with hyperpigmentation. I will begin to use it more regularly and hope to see results. Thanks again! ❤️

    Hi Dr. Stephens
I am so happy to have found your channel. I'm 31 years old and I'm currently suffering with a lot hyperpigmentation and acne, which I believes is a result of the mask requirement.
The Obagi system has recently been recommend to me (which contain 4% hydroquinone). I've been using the system for a week now and I see some results. The dark marks and scars are lightening, but I'm also seeing some peeling and small white head type pimples in that same area. I'm not sure if its hydroquinone is a product that I should be using due to working in the sun for at least 12+ hours most days as a police officer.
    Thanks in advance.

I’m so excited to have come across your channel! You are a wealth of knowledge and you transmit it so well.
Could you please do a video on physical sunscreens. I’m trying to start using sun screen, but I dislike wearing makeup in the daytime at work because I usually have long busy days and can’t be bothered to retouch (I’m also a health practitioner)!

Great job on delivery this information! I'm curious what you would consider the correct amount to use. I'm using the TO and I keep hearing different things...some say 3 drops others use full dropper??? Thank you for your advice!

Amazing video! I’ve been using TO’s Niacinamide for months now and it was wonderful, and recently my right cheek has been reacting badly to it. Thinking of getting the Inkey List as a replacement to my TO one.

Thank you so much for all your wonderful videos! I am wondering if I can use both at the same time? I have combo skin with oily skin in my T-zone and normal (sometimes dry) skin in other areas. I also have hyper-pigmentation around my cheek and chin area. I was thinking of using The Ordinary niacinamide on my t-zone and the Inkey List niacinamide on other areas of my face. Thoughts?

Hi Dr Alexis, I love all of your informative videos!!!!
Hormonal acne with hyperpigmentation. Can I/should I use the inky list niacinamide or not since it has soybean oil in it????
I hear soybean oil and hormonal acne isn’t a good combination. Please help. Thank you!!!

Very informative! I didn't know niacinimide boosted the effectiveness of other actives. I have psoriasis, so am very interested in helping my skin barrier. The channel Graceful Beauty recommended you and I just subbed!

Thank you so much for you wonderful channel and great information. I have been fighting hyperpigmentation for a while and I see some real improvement with some of the products that you’ve recommended, but the only thing is is there a pure product of Alpha Arbutin Without hydraulic acid I find that Hyaluronic acid makes me break out in pimples and the Alpha Arbutin has Hyaluronic acid I it. Would you be able to suggest a substitute? Thank you sooo much!
