- This video was 3 years in the making. In 2019, we finished the build on our DIY teardrop camper, and planned to take it to the worlds largest RC model airplane fly-in called the Joe Nall. Well, we got sidelined with life, the pandemic, etc. BUT, in 2022 we made it!!! Welcome to the Joe Nall fly-in. This is the place to be if you love camping and giant scale model aircraft. With everything from my teardrop camper to huge toy haulers everywhere, not only is this the largest RC event, it’s probably the biggest campground I’ve ever camped at. If you love camping, airplanes, cooking, jets, warbirds, etc., this episode is for you.

Kindness is so underrated. You always come across as a kind gentle soul. Main reason I keep watching.
Thank you
Michael is certainly that....
I mainly watch your channel for the teardrop ideas; but, this one is impressive how the RC pilots can gently control the throttle for the aircraft can hover. Good show.
About teardrop camping, the oven, wow great idea. I didn’t know there’s one available. Now I’m gonna have to get me one. I love baking.
Thanks so much for watching! I’m glad you enjoyed the RC action. I didn’t know whether folks would like seeing that or not.
I clicked to see the trailer. I ended up taking a trip to my childhood although on a much smaller stage.
Eggs in a jar..... now that's a good idea. I think I'll steel that one for my next camping trip.
Steel away!
I can not believe how insanely real those remote planes are!!!!!!!
That oven works awesome with a Colman stove. I grew up with one and still use it now at 58 years old. Bake bread pizza and what ever you do in an oven.
Good to know you’ve had good success with it. I look forward to making many more yummies in it.
Omg love the oven!!!!! That’s amazing. I didn’t know those model air planes can be so big. Crazy.
Some of the planes were unbelievable! It was so much fun camping there!!
Everyone is different on the coffee but my favorite is 8 o’clock dark and its medium priced…
Great video 😃
Wow what a show
Wow that was an awesome weekend! The planes eete fabulous and fantastic creativity. Thank you for sharing and be safe.
Thanks for watching!
i love joe nall. it was a great event this year. glad to be back !
Me too!
Had no idea RC’s got that big. Must be all the biscuits!
Those plans are huge.
So enjoyed this!
Looks like an awesome time an hobby
Thank you for the letting us share in your adventures with your teardrop. This was amazing with the model airplanes. I belong to a group of Coleman collectors and it was good to see you trying out the Coleman oven. A trick to help control hot spots is to add a heat sink like unglazed tiles cut to fit the bottom of the oven. Helps distribute the heat evenly so you don't burn your biscuits. Also love the Oak Island hat. It's where I'm based. Good camping.
A Coleman collectors club? How cool! Thanks for the tile tip.
Nice little camper. But the plane show was awesome. Nothing I love more than flying my RC's except fishing (retired) thanks for a good video. Oh your cooking was ok too.😂
Thanks so much for watching!
We have been making coffee with an AeroPress while camping and at home for a few months and it makes very good coffee.
Thanks for the tour and fun.
Walmart kcups are hard to beat been using them for years now I've tried more expensive ones but come back to the Walmart kcups great seeing all the planes 👍🇺🇲🦅🗽✊ God bless you
They do make a good cup of Joe!
This looks completely epic! We will be taking our Micro camper out for the first time since we bought it back in January and restored it over the last few months to a large car gathering this weekend and seeing your enjoyment of this large RC Plane event is getting us hyped for our own adventures. We're revealing our camper on RUclips tomorrow which is super exciting. Great job as always on the video and keep up the superb work 👍
I have been to a few RC events across the country but nothing as Nic as this. Thanks for sharing I just hope I don't get the RC plain bug again. The last time I got it it almost broke me. LOL
good to see you posting videos again mike
It was good to get one out. Thanks for the encouragement!
I’ve always wanted to go to Joe nall, amazing event!
I’m fortunate enough to to only live 4.5 hours away. I’ve been 23 times now and it never gets old.
@@CampandCamera outstanding! It’s 7 hours for me but I’ll eventually make it out that way at some point
This is awesome! Thank you for all the video of the planes. God bless!
It’s my pleasure!
Hi Michael! We enjoy watching your adventures. We’re glad you made it back to the joe Nall RC fly-in. What a time you must have had! It looks like everyone really enjoyed themselves. Thanks for letting us in on all the fun! ~ Maria and Chris
Ps. Joann’s prepared meal starters look great and I’m sure they taste amazing too! Your Camp-EZ still looks brand new!
Good to hear from you Maria. I hope the both of you are doing well. It was so good to be back at the airshow. This was my 23rd year! It was so much fun taking the Camp EZ. I look forward to seeing what adventures you two embark upon this summer. Yes, Jo Ann keeps me fed very well! Lol!
Another awesome video I use an Omnioven they’re great
Thank you!
Great video, stumbled upon you while searching for Nall 22 videos. Subscribed and liked!
Welcome!!
Nice video and love that Joanne made some suck bag meals that you could take. I have that Coleman oven but haven’t used it yet. Someone on RUclips posted a video on making an insulated cover for it out of a welding blanket to help retain the heat. Others have also said putting a pizza stone on the bottom will help control the temp. Also Kellie from Dome Life makes some awesome meals in the oven. She has a cookbook coming out soon!
Pizza stone! Great idea!!
Berres Bros out of Wisconsin. I'm hooked on their coffee, but some of my go to kcups are from the bargain bin!
I used to fly in club, now with much less time fly in country field. I also camp and do hobby boat, lol
I’m not in a formal club either. I do love to fly though!
This reminds me of our little strip South of Omaha. I have the record for the longest flight with my six foot glider. I installed the switch backwards, and on launch the switch was turned off. We found it 4 1/2 miles away.
Great story!
Came by your camp a few times. Never could catch ya.. Camper looked amazing.
Oh, I’m sorry I missed you! Hopefully we’ll cross paths at the Fall event.
That's cool. Hope so. Truly love your camper.. It's super nice
Regarding that coffee maker, I love mine. Brews hotter and I feel I get more oz. of coffee out of my pod vs using the keurig at home
It’s so simple, I just can’t stop using it.
i saw your neat little camper i drive a white and yellow rzr every year we camp up at the heli line
Cool! Stop by and we’ll swap some stories.
We have a model airplane airport here in Sierra Vista, ARIZONA. They fly some very large airplanes here.
In one of your video's you show a tear drop that has, I think, two steps into it. Do you know where to purchase steps?
Well I saw an airplane I like fly in. It was the Ultralight Fisher green and white airplane.
Hi! Great video. I have a question. What gage wire did you use in the camp ez? I planning a few 12v circuits (fans, lights, and USB chargers) . I was thinking 14 gage. I know it might be over kill......but I'm not an electrician. Jim. Been watching awhile really like yet channel.
Hey, I really appreciate you watching. It’s been a while since I ran the wiring, but I think I used 12 gauge on my 12V circuitry to minimize any voltage drop when running a several foot run.
That coffiee is a lot cheeper at Costco
Wow! Those models must have been a lot of work. Wonder where that one guy came up with the jet engine -- those aren't cheap, new or used. Cool that you can camp right onsite! For the oven, maybe try covering the top and sides with something super temperature tolerant/fire retardant? I suspect you're losing a lot of heat straight off the top. A folding blanket of some sort would keep the storage profile down but trap that radiant heat.
Great idea!
@@CampandCamera Check out this RUclipsr... ruclips.net/video/5fyI1E6iNwE/видео.html He sewed a welding blanket into a custom fit cover that really seems to help a lot. He also uses a baking stone inside the oven to help retain & regulate the heat. They do a bunch of baking in the Coleman if you want to look through their videos.
Thanks for the lead!
RC turbines are mass produced and readily available, JetCat, Kingtech, and Swiwin are the 3 major producers and the most common.
@@tannercurtis1836 Interesting. Guess that's what happens when I don't look for 15 years or so. 🤣 Cool though.
Im vacuum sealing some Suck Bag Potatoes
As this video dropped in my notifications. Heading out tomorrow for a quick 2 day escape in my DIY Square Drop nowhere special just close to home for some R&R.
That’s awesome timing! Have a great trip!!
Folgers Black Silk Coffee comes in K cups at Walmart
nice video my sons father in law flys in calif and arazona ok so my question is are you still using the domestic cooler ?
I use a Camp Zero cooler for short trips and the Bouge RV 12V fridge for everything else.
💜
some of those planes are ridiculously cool... and i think building a drop is pricey lol. why didnt we see you fly.?
This trip I just focused on recording video. I have flown in the past though. It’s an awesome event!!
I live close to the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome and every year they have an RC weekend that I attend, the RC planes are awesome and when photographed right it is hard to tell that they are not full-size aircraft. Also, a ? for you, how come the wood behind your stove doesn't get charred or burned from the flames under the pots/pans ? I think I would have put a piece of metal of some sort to protect it.
I was prepared to clad the wood with metal the first time I tried it, but so far it hasn’t been an issue. I’m surprised, but it keeps working well. Now that I’ve said that, it will probably burn to the ground the next time I go camping!
do u normally use a truck cap to haul your plane in the bed ?
I used to. I’m now using a vinyl tonneau cover. That way I can haul my motorcycle on some trips.
Is this strictly a park for R/C? or do they bring in full size aircraft at other times of the year. Runway looks big enough?
They do both.
The facility owns and operates several full scale planes including a Cub, Texan, Stearman and the crown jewel is a P51!
TTA is primarily a full scale runway but they have a few RC events throughout the year.
Loved seeing the planes hated the music
Could thoes be mistaken as UFO ?
Lol!
