- Scott Boras, Boras Corporation founder and president, joins CNBC's 'Power Lunch' to discuss the record-breaking $765M deal signing Juan Soto to the Mets, whether he expects to see more contracts like this, and more.
Ball players like Soto, Harper and ARod are rare cases because such players hardly ever become FAs in their mid-20's. BTW all 3 are Boras clients.
Let’s go Mets
Borass is singlehandedly destroying the great game of baseball. IMHO
I agree
Boras talks like a politician….no coincidence since he’s a lawyer by trade
Great questions guys, Boras did not know what to answer....
What business decision??? 🤣😂. He's not Ohtani! Lord.
He doesn't need to be Ohtani, in the end he will end up with better numbers than Ohtani.
@@manuelmacario193
Yeah in your dreams
@manuelmacario193 To justify getting that amount, yes, he needs to be Ohtani. 😂. Ohtani is the only player in MLB who makes his team millions! Soto will not. He's just a great hitter, that's it.
Bigger scammer in history. Fans are paying the price paying hundreds of dollars for tickets. This bubble has to stop
Juan Soto will be a permanent DH in 5 years.
This contract was a massive mistake
stop repeating what you hear like a parrot.
His bat alone is where 99% of his value comes from anyway. That's been true every season of his career. No one going after him was worried about his defense. Him getting off the field probably makes him more valuable, not less.
It was a HUGE and MASSIVE MISTAKE. Soto is a mediocre outfielder, he is not worth 765 million. The Mets are going to regret this signing for ever
His projected WAR is HIGHER as a DH. Imagine that. DH or OF, he is an elite hitter that is worth a lot of money coming off of his age 25 season. It also makes no sense that he will “need” to be a DH in a few years. At age 28? He is basically an average outfielder, people just think he is a poor outfielder because his bat is stratospheres above his glove. He also has an excellent arm.
Scott Boras is the biggest con man in baseball history.
borass has wrecked baseball, every greeedy
Saying that his stats at citi field had anything to do with his decision is laughable. He probably wanted to be the highest paid player in baseball and he will be for quite some time more than likely. Just admit it, nothing to be ashamed of
Ive never heard the word FAMILY used so much in signing an athlete 🤔
funny they call him super agent. He's being inflating prices for years with little no competition. All what Boras really wanted was to beat Ohtani's deal. Saying the market dictated the price, I doubt it. Ohtani is literally two players in one with global outreach. $51m per year is going to become a burden for mets, and ultimately the consumer will pay these increases
Somewhere in the world the next billion dollar pro athlete is honing his/her craft. We’re < 5 years away from the 1st billion dollar contract in MLB.
this is about steve cohen desparate to win a WS before he pass
just here to read all the butthurt comments
The Mets deal is worth more money, this narrative that the Yankees deal was 5 million less shows that these guys haven’t done their homework. Juan can make a lot more than 5 million dollars more with the Mets deal
It’s 5 million more a year for the first 5 years. Then like 10 million more a year for the last 10. Not to mention a 75 million dollar signing bonus
@Platerpus7- No he has an opt out clause in his 5th year. He’s already getting paid 51 mil a year so if he opts in after his 5th year he will get paid an extra 5 million on top of his 51 mil (56 mil) for the remaining 10 years of the deal
Why are these clown talking over Scott? LET HIM TALK BEFORE YOU ASK ANOTHER QUESTION.
How much is Elon Musk or Jeff Bezos worth as baseball players?
PMSL Boras ya deluded muppet
Lol biggest sell out job of all time. Enjoy the suite and the millions Juan. And just wait till the injuries start. Sadly for the Mets in about 5 years this will be one of the worst contracts in baseball. Only the Mets.
You sound like a bitter Yankees fan. “Only the Mets” - except for the inconvenient fact that 4 other teams offered him over $700 million and both the Yankees and Blue Jays offered at least $750 million
Its all about money please stop the. Nonsense your a snake and soto is lying hes using his family as a scapegoat
im a mets fan and im thrilled they signed him, but you’re 100 percent right
Let's go Mets
