- My friend Matt has never seen the original Spider-man trilogy before so we had to watch it together. The Raimi Spider-man movies are my absolute favorite superhero movies, and I'm glad I got to share in my friend's experience as he watches it for the very first time.

After seeing what he did to TLAB I don't know what to expect for Unbreakable.

I feel plot conveniences like the meteorite landing near Peter and Eddie being at that church are such nitpicks. Sometimes conveniences gotta be there to advance the plot, it's like Spider-Man 2 how Aunt May and Peter just happen to go to the same bank that the Doc is about to rob. It happens in every big franchise and its not a movie shattering issue
Oscar Johnson I see a lot of complaints on conveniences on other movies, but the Spider-Man movies with Toby don’t have those complaints, well none that I could see.
Movies are built upon conveniences. This is a requirement for movies to advance. If its overdone, sure, but I can't stand when people look at a convenience in a movie and cry out that its a problem.
I think stories in general have those conveniences. I see it as the protagonists having luck. These stories are so amazing to us because we see these characters beat the odds unlike in real life. Idk if this fully applies but I think of Shakespeare's Macbeth, "no man born from a woman can defeat you" the said man who ultimately defeats him was the product of a c-section.
Brock being at the church when Parker removes the symbiote is comic book accurate, so if a person doesn't like that, blame the source material. As far as Parker's introduction to the symbiote, there was no chance that was going to be anything like the comics. The MCU could actually pull it off, especially if they want the Russos back.
Peter being in the right place for the radioactive spider to bite him is part of Stan Lee's idea this randomness is part of the point for Spider-Man. That becoming Spider-Man could have happened to anyone. He wanted a different superhero that was made from a random event happening to a more relatable person, and not because they are a powerful alien, or a rich genius, or having a super-mentor to guide him.
Definitely top 3 trilogies of all time. I love a feel good movie like these
That Sandman forming scene in the pit, that will always get to me how good that looks. Great scene.

I actually just rewatched this film the other day, its a huge part of my childhood and I hadn't seen it in years. If there's one thing I absolutely adore about this movie, its how fucking BRUTAL some of maguire's screams are in the final fight scene. Like, at 4:41.

I feel the same way you do Holden about Spider-Man 2! And the trilogy. All time favorite has to be Empire Strikes back or Revenge of the Sith. But nothing compares to the laughter shared when watching Spider-Man 2 with good friends.
Matt's comments on Spider-Man 2 made me really happy. Peter getting knocked down over and over again and persevering through it all really gets me every time. Love your energy as always Holden! This channel never ceases to make me smile

batman and Spiderman are two of the most relateable heroes ever...anyone can watch their lives and enjoy it..they aren't as comic book like as other heores and their stories are easy to get into without knowing much about them cause their origins are always shown...their pretty simple and the movies try to make them realistic enough ..I don't know Spiderman is the most for kids hero and batman is for young adults so depending on age you can choose which one is best..

There's no jargon, nothing held back, just a good group of people gathered around for a movie night. I would've loved to watch more of his reaction in the train scene. It's the most heartwarming part of the movie for me, and that quote "He's just a kid" really sums up everything people love about spider-man.

I've seen the Sam Raimi trilogy at least 17 times and counting and I'll never stop.

Loved the video! Spider-Man 1 and 2 have been and will continue to some of my favorite movies of all time. I still get chills when I watch them. Side note, after hearing Matt talk about how much these movies felt like Batman made me wonder if that could be partially from the music as they are both composed by Danny Elfman

There's one thing I would suggest: maybe it would be a good idea to talk about the movies - how they are regarded by Holden, by audiences and so forth - AFTER you've watched the movie(s)?
While Matt is, undoubtedly, candid when telling us his opinion, no one can help being influenced (if nothing else, subconsciously) by all the information they're told beforehand.
I think it would be fun to see Matt's reaction while being "in the dark" about what Holden and everyone else thinks. Just a thought ;-)
Spider-man is one of my favorite superhero I just love how relatable he is as a character like he's a guy trying to do his best on both fronts in his personal life and as spidey, love spiderman XD cartoons too

isaiah garcia People like them because they’re good movies. Nobody talks about bad movies anymore because they’re bad. If an 18 year old superhero movie is still loved despite the entire existence of the MCU you know it’s great

Terrible dialogue, unbelievable dialogue at that, some of the worst acting ever let alone from a lead, so many plot holes it’s hard to list em all, same thing with continuity errors, and don’t even get me started on the third movie 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️ they’re not good films. Predictable storylines and mj always gets saved in the end. Literally all three movies. It’s PURE nostalgia. Are they terrible? No. But not nearly as good as people make them out to be. They’re charming I’ll give them that but really that’s about it
isaiah garcia you should try rewatching these movies. The dialogue is fine I don’t get what you’re going on about. You can hate them but you can’t deny other people love them regardless of nostalgia. People loved the movies when they first came out so how would they be nostalgic back then? Also yes, the Raimi movies are campy but they have some of the most in depth superhero studies of Spider-Man and what drives him to do good.
