Hello there!
I just wanted to quickly address a recurring theme I'm seeing in the comments about the order in which we watched the movies. So we originally were going to watch them in release order, however we know Matt isn't the biggest fantasy/sci-fi guy and preferred if the story was just linear. He also already knew about Vader being Luke's father because it's so embedded into pop culture so there wouldn't have been a surprise there anyway.
Normally my videos only get a few hundred views, except for a few outliers, so I wasn't expecting this many people to comment. So I'll try to quickly go over some more things I'm seeing in the comments to broadly answer/address them:
Yes, we wanted Matt to like Star Wars but still love him even though he didn't.
If Matt had seen them in release order it wouldn't have "changed everything." He still wouldn't have liked them.
We all went to see Rise of Skywalker together at my local theater and Matt actually dressed up as a Jedi! He thought the movie was alright (more planet floo floo stuff).
This video was just for fun, so please don't crucify Matt for his opinions of the movies or me for showing them in the order we did. We watched them all and he didn't like them. And that's okay.
Matt just posted a video reading through some of the comments and talked about some of the negativity. It also has his review of Episode 9. Make sure to check it out:

I really did like your video and my comment was just a suggestion or what I would have done.
I did not expect the response or the vitriol that my comment sparked.
At the end of the day I want people to be able to enjoy Star Wars the way they want to. Cinema is art & art is subjective. No right or wrong. Just let people enjoy how they want.

I can, because it seems like many people aren’t willing to break out of their comfort zones and give things a try. I know way too many people like that. Stormrage Without Star Wars, sci-fi fantasy wouldn’t be nearly as mainstream, and a lot of other series wouldn’t exist or be as popular. Star Wars isn’t the best sci-fi fantasy, but you can’t honestly say it’s “just another fantasy movie series”. That’s a straight up lie and factually incorrect. Star Wars is one of the most pivotal franchises in the history of sci-fi fantasy series, regardless of it’s quality.
@@purpleemerald5299 what about 2001? This brought Sci Fi to the mainstream and the effects holds up so much better than the originsl
“Why hasn’t Darth been mentioned yet??”
Me: My god he doesn’t know
I held my breatch and waited for their response. Hahaha
Loved my 8yr olds reaction when Skywalker pledge to the dark side. Literally yelled "Anakin is Daaarth Vader?!?!?!"
Sick Intentionz I wish I could go back to the first time I saw that scene 😭
@@iambecomejeff There was lots of dissapointment in him because that was his favorite person until that very moment. Felt bad to be honest. But still loved his reaction.
You should’ve made him play through the entirety of fallen order in between 3 and rogue one
Man you can see how far Holden's skills and format have advanced in the last 3 years.
Saw episode 4 in 1977, shortly thereafter, moved to Japan because my dad was in the Air Force. Got to see Star Wars premiere in Tokyo and meet Mark Hamill.
That's actually awesome
That’s awesome dude
That’s so cool

*palpatine voice* "Ironic"
I can't believe the recommendations have brought me back here... to where it all started.
Man, watching the Marvel movies now makes me SO SAD that we couldn’t see Matts reactions to all the movies in real time
“By Gone Jim” sounds like something a farmer would say when he’s upset
imagine- a huge, threatening fire is overtaking his farm and he can’t do anything about it. He stands in the road watching his life burn down in front of him.
He mutters three words..
“By gone jim.....”
Did you ever know of By Gone Jim?
Not too bright, not too dim.
One bad night, his house ablaze,
Jim could only say the phrase:
"By Gone Jim"
"By Gone Jim"
Words that sound like some old hymn
"By Gone Jim"
"By Gone Jim"
Who knew what it meant to him?

By Gum works better. "Well by Gum, Jim, old boy we've lost the farm."
Matt: “I cant follow this”
Padmé: “So love has blinded you?”
The beginning of an era 🔥🔥🔥
That now has come to an end.
Thank you for so much guys, God loves you!
1:06 Matt: nope, he’s not dead. He’ll be back. They always come back.
*Finishes episode 7* "Best one yet"
*Pans over to his friend shaking his head*
Zach Richard I like episode 7 a lot actually
@@oreokitten6609 You can have your wrong opinion.
Sequel trilogy is the best trilogy
I mean episode 7 is ok but it's definitely not the best one
@@DubuqueRS Wtf
Dude: “Yo Episode IV has worse graphics than the first three. Why?”
Me: “I sense a great disturbance in the Force”
Omega XD cause they made him watch chronologically. It should be episode 4,5,6, 1,2,3, rogue 1, 7,8.
Jow Delgado No it shouldn’t. If he wouldn’t watch it chronologically, he wouldn’t get the story.
/would be way to complicated for somebody who watches first-time.
On the other hand: There are such big time differences between the production years of the films. So when watching the movies in the order of the production year, he will already wonder why the graphics/CGI/etc. are so different :D (Confuses in my opinion).
@@jowdelgado6865 Agreed. they kinda fcked it up for him by not watching is this way.
@@simhanssens7331 Actually I prefer 4,5,2,3,6 (skip 1, not relevant) if trying to get the authentic saga experience, or 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 if just watching for entertainment.
@@everless_lol Nah 1 is needed cuz you need to know where the protagonist in 2 came from ( remember we're talking about a first timer ). 4,5,6,1,2,3,rogue is better because
1. The obvious upgrades in movie making, acting and cgi are now upgrades instead of downgrades
2. You start at imo the best movies to directly hook you on the star wars universe. This way you want to watch the others to fill in the gaps.
3. It's way less difficult to follow this way since you watch one storyline. And then come back in time to see all the characters you already know but when they were young.
I think being introduced like everyone did with old school ones first to fall in love with the characters is the way to go
you can find every single line from episode III in the comment section.
“Why hasn’t Darth even been mentioned yet?”
I cackled
Same. I was almost surprised he didn't know.
(Also, nice pfp.)
simmer down Chancellor
If someone hasn't seen Star Wars by that point in their life, there is probably a reason.
his is that he can't follow a basic storyline.
I mean , all his complains is literally because it had a storyline in the movies , he even had difficulty to track the storyline of the OT , the simplest of it.
PhantasosX Games if he can’t even keep up with the OT, then he definitely can’t keep up with other popular franchises such as avengers, Harry Potter, lord of the rings, hell even shrek might be a problem for him. what a shame.
Kermit The Frog he likes marvel,Dark knight, Joker, and the the Spider-Man trilogy so I guess he doesn’t like action
Correct. Zero interest. Even after watching them all.
Kermit The Frog we did all of those except shrek and I don’t like them. Shrek will probably done in the future.
i started watching prequel too. i knew skywalker was going to be the maincharacter but i dont know which one. i thought anikin was the one to destroy darth vader all the time until episode 3. thats when i was blew away and completely fell in love with SW
He's REALLY put off by the world-building overload of the franchise.
