- Hello friends! We're starting MCU phase one. We haven't been able to knock out the whole thing because of our work schedule and demands from the virus right now, but I'm hoping to release some of these more frequently than once a week as I go through the phases. Some videos may be just one movie like this, some might be 2 movies.
Today, Matt joins me as we watch Iron Man! It's the first time he's ever seen it.

Hey guys! We're going to do our best to release more than one video of the MCU a week. We wanted to get it all done in one video but we just didnt have the time and the video would have been WAY too long.
So, I'm probably going to combine a couple movies in one video, and just take our time with it so we can talk about them individually. Im hoping to release more than one a week this way.
After phase one, we'll probably watch a couple other things before going into phase 2. Thanks so much guys for all the support!

I watched his video where he breaks down his favorite movies. He actually has decent taste in movies. Just different genres I suppose.
@@HoldenHardman As a casual subscriber to your channel I wasn't aware of that - you should mention it in the next couple videos you guys will be filming just to bring it to our attention (even if you did it in the past, we don't all watch every videos) because there's a clear discrepancy between the number of views you have on your channel and the number HE has on his.
Also, I'm not into fitness but if Matt starts doing the reaction thing with you more often with the movies HE like, I might consider subscribing to his channel. So I think its worth it pointing it out.
Actually... I'd subscribe to his channel if he did "My friend Holden does THIS EXERCISE for the first time" to counterbalance how much you made him suffer with your movies :P
It is absolutely incredible, The people behind the film had a challenge, Jon Favreau said in a interview, they only had a outline, not even a script completed, they were improvising on set, this film had a challenge to carry a Potential Cinematic Universe On it’s shoulders, and that I really think it succeeded at, this is definitely one of my favorite Superhero Movies of all time.

There are a shocking number of people like that. It's like there's a generation where all the options across time have been shoved in their face at once, so people lose touch (or don't establish contact) with art and stories that were considered classics just a generation earlier.
He's a nurse so it's understandable. Being a nurse requires crazy dedication and time.

I love how before the movie started Holden said he thought Matt would hate the MCU movies. Lol it’s been quite a journey. I’m so glad Matt could suspend his disbelief enough to really give these movies a chance and come out of it a Marvel fan.

Y’all got a new subscriber here. I’m excited for this! I can tell that it’s genuine, I’ve seen a few “first time watching” and they clearly have seen it before.
So glad he liked this and I’m holding out hope that will continue. The MCU definitely has it’s highs and lows. One thing I will say is that you need to make sure you show him the One Shots.
When you said “tomorrow we’re watching Incredible Hulk”, I subscribe immediately 😂. I think this will going to be interesting to MCU fans like me, who wants to see the reaction from someone who will watch the whole Infinity Saga.
Prediction: Winter Soldier will be his favorite. Or Iron Man 3, or Age of Ultron.

@@RShadow12 Cause its little boring. It does a lot for Cap's character, its fun and all that. Winter Soldier has amazing track in it, but its just generic spy drama. There is nothing new to offer there. Civil War was much better. First two Iron Mans were much better in my opinion, just because they have better rewatchability, they are more casual, none world ending stakes, just more fun and ride, hanging out with Stark, just wished 3rd movie was like that, but it got different director. Infinity War is overrated as well. There is almost no character development there. Just people preparing to fight whole movie and then fighting and losing. First five minutes with Thanos destroying Asgardians were great. Later on? Just repetition after repetition of preparing, then fighting. It could use some breath, cause it does not feel like a movie, but just a long fancy trailer for Endgame. And Endgame is gold, because it takes time before fireworks at the end to establish characters and build for further pay-offs. It was great. It was more than anyone hoped for it to be, we all know it. It did justice to every character.
I think he'll latch onto the Thor movies.
@@TheOnceandFutureJake Not the second one xD Maybe the first one, cause there is a lot of character driven plot there with unworthy Thor and Loki schemes. And third one, cause comedy is fun and refreshing there, yet still personal.

So the biggest reason I'm subscribed to your channel is because Matt gives truly honest answers while still giving the movies a chance. He's not turned off completely or disinterested in watching. It's for that reason I respect him. Kudos.
It’s so strange to find somebody who has never seen the movies that the rest of the world has always known. I’m a huge MCU fan, and I’m super excited to see how Matt likes everything else. I would say the MCU is the easiest for the average joe to get into. Not super crazy complex, quick fun fight scenes, and a lot of humor.
Jello Trooper I wouldn’t say it’s the easiest to get into. There are 20+ movies with even more coming and a lot of the times an average movie going isn’t going to known the order of the movies. A lot won’t even know where to start. Like someone people who have never seen an MCU movie walked into Endgame not knowing anything.

The Once and Future Jake while there was breathing exercises.. I think everything you said relates more to 2003 Hulk. I feel like MCU Hulk is a little more surface level.

This may be a big ask for Matt after he’s finished watching the mcu, but I would love to see him watch and react to the X-Men films. Maybe not all of them (just the good ones that serve a large purpose to the overall story). It would be great to see his reaction to Logan as that is one of my favourite films.

Noy everybody watches super hero movies. All the hype for endgame a year ago got me interested so I watched all MCU movies for the first time ever before seeing endgame.

The Joker I agree the First Iron man is literally the only decent one. The others have Alien villains and stupid stuff like that. Not that a movie can’t have Aliens and be great, like Arrival (2016) or Alien (1979)
I agree...my biggest problem with the MCU is that it feels too formulaic. Too many of the films follow a cookie cutter format and rarely do they take risks/step outside the box. I've always been more of a DC fan because they aren't afraid to take risks and tell a more gritty story. Even early on in the DCEU with Man of Steel, Batman v. Superman and Wonder Woman...it felt like the DCEU was going to be its own thing.
There's been a few times where the MCU has surprised me and I've liked some of these films because of it:
Iron Man
Captain America: The Winter Soldier(Best thing they've done IMO!)
Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 1 & 2(I really enjoy these...loads of fun!)
The Avengers(A few aspects of the film annoy me but overall I think it's one of their better efforts)
Doctor Strange(Again...I enjoy it when they step outside the box)
Black Panther(Some of the CGI is awful but the story is good)
Avengers Infinity War(Great pacing, great character moments and a strong villain)
The rest of the MCU I'm sort of indifferent about.
This has been such a great idea for videos guys, can’t wait til it gets to civil war and really turns up

Having a marathon after the endgame one! Matt's character arc is really just satisfying from here xD

We’re only a few days away from Matt and Jenna seeing Infinity War, and I’m so excited! I’m glad I rewatched the very first MCU one again. I can’t believe how much Matt’s view of these films have changed over these last few months!
