I have used both these products. I definitely prefer to work on the white, but it does crease/wrinkle with very little use, and has developed odd pucker spots, as if it somehow stretched. The brown lasted MUCH longer, stayed smoother and after years (a decade at least) has developed 2 short (less than 2”) cracks along the lines in the fibre.
I look forward to seeing the white in use on your desk.

Hi Fran. Oh wow. Thanks so much for your feedback. It’s great to hear from someone who has field-tested them both over an extended period. So helpful.
I have put down a number of lines of double sided tape to firmly adhere the white covering to my table. So it will be interesting to see if that helps with the puckering you experienced.
That’s brilliant to hear that the brown covering has lasted you over 10years (and counting). Well worth the price! I could tell that the brown cloth was going to be super robust, but it was just a bit … well… brown! ☹️😆.
Thanks again for giving us your first-hand insights. ❤️

Could you use a non stick baking mat

Hi Fran, thanks for your thoughts. I’m not sure if I would find a non stick baking mat to cover my entire table (2m x 0.75m)! And that was the main thing I wanted to do. I am guessing that a non stick baking mat (silicone?) would clean up fine. Also, if you just wanted a smaller surface to work on, then Ranger sell smaller mats in their Inkssentials range. They would work well and are easy to find. (There are also cheaper alternatives on Amazon if you search). But, I was keen to find a solution sold by the metre (or foot) so that I could cover my whole area in one piece. 😊👍

How about using Raisin table top?

Hello. Do you mean a resin table top? I’ve not tested out resin, but I don’t think it’s a non stick surface. My guess is acrylic paint would be hard to clean off resin. Also, depending on the type of resin it wouldn’t be suitable for hot work.
Let us know if you test out a good alternative. Thanks 😊

Thanks for this, nice to see some Ranger alternatives. It looked like you could even make glue gun masks on those, very handy. Although, I think the kind of buckling on the white one would drive me crazy. One thing I was wondering...seems like they would work as paint palettes same as Ranger, but could you possibly make acrylic paint skins on them? That would be fun. Also, if I could get the brown one in a neutral gray, I think I would go for that. Looking forward to seeing how it works for you when you get it. Liked and subbed!

Hi Sharon. Yes it would be perfect for glue gun masks!
The PTFE sheet has arrived and I have installed it on my table. I was worried about the buckling too. But it has actually has gone down pretty smoothly. It will be interesting to see how it wears over time.
Definitely you could use it for a paint pallet. Paint skins would definitely come off easy on the brown one. I will have to test out the white one.
I’ll make a follow-up video showing the installation (it was very easy). And also seeing how it fares over time.
Unfortunately I could only see the PTFE coated glass cloth version in that brown colour. However, I was reading about another company that uses the material outside, for their shade sail cloth. They said that over time it bleaches white in the sun. I think I will test that out with my sample piece. I imagine that the process might take quite some time, but I will report back with those results too. 😉😊

If you buy one of these sheet materials from a supplier near you, then it would be great if you could add the details of the company in the comments below. It might help someone else, near you, who wants to purchase. Let’s support each other! Thanks 😊
