Being of fan of both McCartney & Wings & the Foo Fighters, I have to say, I love both versions. Both stand up to songs that I would rock out to and love to listen to over and over again, so no harm in that, if you ask me!
As a Beatle/McCartney fan, I'll say I'm very happy that the FF covered this.. great energy. Would be epic to see live. Their "Baker Street" is also fantastic.
I remember hearing this on the way to work when Radio 1 first played it and being gobsmacked. I had to pull over to hear it all as I was almost at work when it came on. It made me realize what a superb song BOTR is, even though I had always liked it,.
as a fan of both bands i say they did a good job. i was born in "69" and grew up listening to wings as a kid. then was in my late twenties when the foo fighers started. i can appreciate the fusion of both era's.
♥️ this video is a true tribute to the guys as not only a kick ass band, but also as family! The big hole in this family will take awhile to heal. Blessed be, TH
My Favourite Song Writer, my Favourite 70's Band, one of there best songs, covered by one of todays top bands what more can you want, saw him perform this with Macca at Anfield Liverpool June '08.........................FANTASTIC..............DAVE M
"The Colour and The Shape" and "There is Nothing Left to Lose" are still their two best albums. Even Dave says "There is Nothing Left to Lose" was his best album. They have a smattering of really good songs in their subsequent albums though.
@@deusexaethera 100% agree. The colour and the shape is one of the best rock albums made in my opinion and There’s Nothing Left to Lose has some amazing tracks on it
This has always been one of my hands-down favorite songs. I'm 34, almost 35 and the first time I heard the original version by Wings I was probably a very young kid. At 12/13 I discovered the Foo Fighters...and a few years ago I discovered their cover of this fuckin phenomenal song and I think it's safe to say my mind was fuckin' blown.
DAMN! Grohl is the kinda fan you wanna have . A musical genius in love with his idol. So much so that he leaves the original recording INTACT , doesn't get all fanciful just a TRIBUTE to McCartney. Last of the REAL musicians and amazing bands.
Way Cool!😊the song brings so many memories back,it was the first time I heard a change in tempo and beats in one song. Understanding at that moment music had no boundaries as me and childhood buddy listened from a restaurant'diner' juke box.Followd up with Niel Diamond's Forever in blue jeans.😂 Music is everything too so many. What a awesome cover .Rock on Fighters!Always!Love
What a freaking trip .I am so happy to be able to experience this...it's so cool to have a incredible gift of music like this . Be still my heart. .❤️🎶🎵🤘😉
I have nothing but mad respect for Dave Grohl. I'm not the world's biggest Foo Fighters fan, but this cover of this Wings classic is aces! Also, I've always admired how Dave didn't exploit Cobain's death. His success was based on his own merit, regardless of his role in Nirvana. He handled that tragedy with couth and grace. Rock on, Dave!!
It's funny Dave hits the pitch C5 exactly how McCartney himself does , with a lot of rasp pulling up lower chest . I would like to hear a range singer like Glen Huges, or Rob Zander do this . it would be interesting to hear a cool smooth continuous full tone , from a male vocal, aside from a female who can easily hit a C5 , but does not have the same tone in the lower range
I just found the foos cover of baker Street about a week ago. And just found this today. I'm not the biggest rock fan. Not the biggest fan of the foos. But huge props to these guys who can write a great song of their own along with blow you away with an amazing cover...
Being a toddler with my head against the speakers for Beatles tunes and a teen when Wings were breaking out I fully appreciate Dave and gangs cover of this. Now if only I could escape this desert world too
HA! Only The Foo could make Dad Rock acceptably cool and not something you listen to in private because you miss your actual Dad. if your're reading this, call your parents. They worry about you.
Being a Beatles/McCartney fan for most my life and a Foo Fighters fan , of course I give this a thumbs up. Dave and the boys do justice to every cover they do , from Baker Street to Have A Cigar to Darling Nikki to this.
Woah back a bit folks. Oh yes it is. Oh no it isn't. One thing this is like is kindergarten. Music is subjective, end of. If I think it's better than the original; it is! If I think the original is better; it is! What is the point in arguing over this? Move on. Nothing to see here.
There are objective metrics to quantify how well composed and how well performed a song is, but despite that, there's no accounting for taste. Some people apparently can't help preferring the first thing they hear.
Sorry, folks, but even considering Mccartney one of the best musicians ever, this version is totally better than the original. Paul & the wings created, foo fighters improved. FOOS ROCK!
I have to disagree only because I saw Paul Live and this version is close to the energy of Wings live. Paul engineers everything a little to tight in studio but get him live where things just jam and his bands are awesome
It's good, but my friend said it was better than the original. Nah, the original is a classic. And I'm not into the "harder" rock side of this one, meh.
Aye, they might not have improved the song to you, but they have improved it to a certain audience. It's all about perspective and what works for people in particular. A song simply can't be ranked on how good it is unless individually. The value of it is different for everyone. I feel like this should be recognised more often. 'One man's trash' kind of thing. But yeah, they are both amazing. 👍🏻
The beginning is OK but better than the original, no fucking way. I cant see real Foo fans listening to Paul McCartney and Wings cos although Dave Grohl is a good Musician He ain't special He ain't got IT like the Beatles or Cobain and I don't like the Beatles.
😂😂😂😂😂😂. You're such an idiot Paul McCartney, besides his bass playing, SUCKS. Pauls a great guy but John Lennon was the Beatles and Dave has just as much talent as Kurt did.
Between this and Foo Fighters Live and Let Die cover its hard to tell which is better. Both wings covers via the Radio 1 live lounge lunch time sessions were awesome....
The Foo Fighters Shred, Wings shreds, this is an awesome band doing an awesome cover of an awesome band, Paul would be proud. Can't wait til the Foo's get inducted :)

The Foo can cover ANYTHING!
brikrantz1 EXCEPT ...THIN LIZZY !!

except nirvana
They can foo anything
It's nice to see a band that can do a cover and still have respect for the original

Perfectly stated...always liked this song never loved it until this.
There are a lot of ballads out there that have excellent lyrics but were performed with not enough energy to make their excellence apparent.
My Favorite Cover EVER! I wish i could see you guys play this live !
Baker Street is pretty good too.
They are better live!
This is awesome, my two favorite bands in one cool😂😮😅😊❤🙏👍

one of the best cover songs ever. this and their bakers st. cover. this band does such justice to these classics taking it to a new audience...epic
I was a “marginal” FF fan until I heard this cover. Since then I have become a full fledged FF fan. Great cover & It’s kick ass. 👍😎
"The Colour and The Shape" and "There is Nothing Left to Lose" are still their two best albums. Even Dave says "There is Nothing Left to Lose" was his best album. They have a smattering of really good songs in their subsequent albums though.

Sir Paul reportedly gave this a big thumbs up. As I understand, he's quite a fan of The Foo Fighters.
They played it in front of him and he did approve this version

Great cover of a true classic.
I think Paul McCartney rocks out to this ;)
Either that or he should seek a lobotomy

the byrds - Mr Tambourine man. Moby - that's when I reach for my revolver. The Beatles - twist and shout.
when it breaks from the beginning to the "if i ever get out of here" part, i just feel like freakin exploding.
Hah. Paul McCartney was was rocking before most of these boys were born. They can only imitate, not improve.

To a registered charity
All I need is a pint a day
If I ever get outta here

Well, the rain exploded with a mighty crash
As we fell into the sun
And the first one said to the second one there
"I hope you're having fun"
Band on the run, band on the run
And the jailer man and sailor Sam
Were searching everyone
For the band on the run, band on the run
For the band on the run, band on the run
Well, the undertaker drew a heavy sigh
Seeing no one else had come
And a bell was ringing in the village square
For the rabbits on the run
Band on the run, band on the run
And the jailer man and sailor Sam
Were searching everyone
For the band on the run, band on the run
Yeah, the band on the run
The band on the run
Band on the run
Band on the run
Well, the night was falling as the desert world
Began to settle down
In the town they're searching for us everywhere
But we never will be found
Band on the run, band on the run
And the county judge who held a grudge
Will search forever more
For the band on the run, the band on the run
Band on the run (Yeah)
The band on the run (Yeah)
