So they made sunlenses? Wow. I have actually thought if it was possible at all. Well, I guess now I won't ask if you wear sunglasses with your lenses. 😄
This is pretty freaking cool considering last time I checked out transition glasses they took so long to change to dark and back to clear it wasn’t worth it to me. When I wore contacts I had to go with an actual colored lens, because I couldn’t see the clear or slightly tinted ones to put in take out safely and easily. Luckily they had an opaque color that wasn’t too noticeable on me. The color had “holes” in it so your real eye color would come through and blend with the color on the lenses. Barely changed my brown eyes to a dark gray color. I’d try these if they had the opaque option.
I submitted that idea to baush and lomb in 2007. Nice to see it's finally out. .. i did say no money is fine but a nice idea statement would have been appreciated. My idea being more of a light damage protection than comfort.
I think it's interesting technology for sure, but I'm skeptical about trying them since they took longer to clear back up again than expected. That and I just love the aesthetic of sunglasses.
Agreed. I love Sunglasses too. I think these lenses may play a good option for individuals who play a lot of outdoor sporting activities and maybe some people who are sensitive to bright lights.
simonmana obviously you’re not a contact wearer if you think their lifespan is super short! It’s actually healthier and better to wear daily disposables.
simonmana wow I didn’t even know they make three month lenses. It seemed to me that most disposable lens are 2 week lens or dailies. I don’t consider a yearly lens a disposable lens. The longest I ever have bought are AirOptix Color Lenses which are monthly and I know they claim they have advanced technology so they stay comfortable longer... the SmartShield Technology that helps to protect from irritating deposits all month long and HydraGlyde Moisture Matrix longer-lasting lens surface moisture plus the lens are made from a highly breathable material that allows nourishing oxygen to flow continuously through the lens for white, healthy-looking eyes. I do use the hydrogen peroxide Clear Care Plus with HydraGlyde on them but to be honest nothing is more comfortable or feels the best in my eyes than using DailyTotal1 contacts which are the Cadillac of daily disposables. Cleaning lenses does not get 100% of the gunk off a lens and even though the monthly’s that I have say they have some “advanced” technology, I can always feel the difference at the end of the month.
simonmana .... I don’t get why you are trying to put down daily contact users by calling them a kid. Daily disposables are proven to reduce the risk of eye infections and other risk associated from wearing contact lens. Ask any ophthalmologist or optometrist and they will recommend daily disposables when cost is not a factor. Ask any ophthalmologist or optometrist that needs vision correction that wear contacts what they wear and they will most than likely be using daily disposables like the optometrist in this video. Are you calling these professionals children? Also it’s not that hard opening up a new set of lens. All you do it peel the top off.
Not sure I'm a fan of them changing my blue eyes black lol. Though I do sufferdrkm major light sensitivity and snow blindness. Would have to try then to know of its worth sacrificing my baby blues lol
I got away from contacts for a while, but these might be good ones to try. I'm often finding myself wishing I had contacts so I could wear sunglasses without clip-ons, or those sunglasses that fit over glasses. Sure, I could get prescription sunglasses, but then I would have 2 pairs of glasses to change back and forth. My problem with contacts is I often forget to take them out at night and end up sleeping in them.
Cant wait to start wearing these! I got Lasik done 8 years ago and my vision has started deteriorating over the last 6 months or so to the point where eye drops don't seem to fix my vision anymore like they used too. I have life time warranty with my Lasik but honestly the dry eye it caused me was not worth the surgery at all and my optometrist said that that the dry eye would only get worse among other things if I were to get the surgery again. So I think I'm going back to wearing contacts. Being someone with blue eyes I cannot wait to experience the outdoors with these bad boys!
So what about the sclera? Does that not need to be protected from UV radiation? Or is the pupil just more important to protect because of the retina being behind it??
I wish I could like this comment more! Yes Sunglasses have the benefit of protection the whole eye and the eyelids. The benefit of the UV protect is that the pupil will dilate more due to less light entering the eye and therefore put a greater risk for UV damage to the crystalline lens and potentially the retina.
@@DoctorEyeHealth Thanks for the reply! I am definitely curious about those lenses, but I too have light blue eyes and I am not sure how I feel about looking like a villain every time I step outside!
Regina Bedgood Exactly....I don’t think they were made to be an alternative to shades though. I’d imagine it is more to cut out some of the visible light itself to help see more than actually to protect the pupil. I wear them because my eyes hurt from strain and light sensitivity and also it makes it hard to see regardless of the discomfort. My eyes take in light like crazy and require less than most people I guess. What is a nice sunny day to some, is a tad blinding to me, it’s weird, I have pretty good night vision though...not like a super power but I drive better at night and can walk around in the dark and am less likely to run into tables. That being said, I still wear sunglasses, but those are for actual protection from UV rather than visual assistance anymore. I think the UV protection in these is an additional bonus...but they are mainly for cutting down on the light itself so the eye is less stimulated or overwhelmed. After all...humans can’t see UV light...but for some humans visible light can be seen a bit too readily or easily, if that makes sense. Apologies for rambling, I just had this thought too when I got these and thought it out cause I’ve been wearing these today and thinking about how much they are helping. I’m excited to say the least.
honestly that’s so cool but i’m more interested in the idea of people looking super cool bc they’re eyes just change in the daylight- supernatural who??? lmao i love it 💕 the dark is a fantastic look
OMG I need these! On one eye my iris is damaged due to a car accident, the pupil can't contract so I have a lot of sunglasses but none completly covers the light from the sides. I always thought that this invention would be amazing, AND NOW THEY ARE REAL?! ♥
So, could this pose long-term effects of the natural reaction your eyes have to light? Say if, you wear the transition contacts for several years pretty regularly, and eventually just go back to glasses/non-transitional contacts. Would your eyes be so used to not having to dilate the pupil that it could pose negative affects?
I had no idea these were coming out! Oasys has been my brand for... well, since they came out as an advancement on the Acuvue2. Suuuuuuper excited to try them out because I hate wearing glasses/sunglasses, but living in AZ the sun makes an appearance far more often than not. It’s funny i cant wait to wake up tomorrow to put them back on and try to go in the sun more haha. Thanks to you i discovered those and now i have them. Yay 😁 P.S. oh and i just remembered, i have a question... are they available for astigmatism or will it even be? Thank you. :)

This is really cool, but if someone doesn't know tint changing lenses are a thing, they'll fully be freaked out cuz it kinda looks like you're getting possessed by the contrast and how fast it changes. It's cool though, I'd try it.
I know! I can't wait to wear them to the next 5k I run to see people react.
I have 20/20 vision, but I’ve always wondered if this technology was possible. So cool to see it is!
Would you maybe try them if they had no prescription in them?
@@DoctorEyeHealth I would
This dude right here has the most beautiful eyes omg
Thank you! What color are your eyes?
True
This has been my dream since middle school :') science has come so far
I came for the contacts; stayed because you're very handsome.
Well thank you!
Me too
for real. handsome and smart
So they made sunlenses? Wow. I have actually thought if it was possible at all. Well, I guess now I won't ask if you wear sunglasses with your lenses. 😄
👍
This is pretty freaking cool considering last time I checked out transition glasses they took so long to change to dark and back to clear it wasn’t worth it to me. When I wore contacts I had to go with an actual colored lens, because I couldn’t see the clear or slightly tinted ones to put in take out safely and easily. Luckily they had an opaque color that wasn’t too noticeable on me. The color had “holes” in it so your real eye color would come through and blend with the color on the lenses. Barely changed my brown eyes to a dark gray color. I’d try these if they had the opaque option.
I knew it was just a matter of time, i saw a commercial for these on fb and im super stoked!!
Yep! Im excited to get more haha
I submitted that idea to baush and lomb in 2007. Nice to see it's finally out. .. i did say no money is fine but a nice idea statement would have been appreciated.
My idea being more of a light damage protection than comfort.
Both B and L and Acuvue have some UV light protection tech. Sorry they didnt credit you.
Are these also available for people with astigmatism?
Sadly not yet. They are so new that it wont be for awhile.
Ohhh it’s too bad :/
Doctor Eye Health oh boo hopefully soon for astigmatism cuz I have that.
That's too bad.
That's in another 10 years.
THEY WENT FROM PURPLE
TO PINK
TO GREEN
TO ORANGE
IM CONFUSION MINNESOTEEE! 😂💗
Lmao.... I have tears! Thanks for the laugh!
Can't tell you how excited I am about these for me and my son!
I take it you are both pretty light sensitive?
Is your son called Lucifer?
I've been begging for these for years!! I just hope they can accommodate my astigmatism !
How much astigmatism do you have?
I can't wait i need these!!! I am super light sensitive, but even I can forget or lose my sunglasses. lol.
👍
I think it's interesting technology for sure, but I'm skeptical about trying them since they took longer to clear back up again than expected. That and I just love the aesthetic of sunglasses.
Agreed. I love Sunglasses too. I think these lenses may play a good option for individuals who play a lot of outdoor sporting activities and maybe some people who are sensitive to bright lights.
I'm betting the lenses would have transitioned back faster if he hadn't been standing right by the door.
simonmana obviously you’re not a contact wearer if you think their lifespan is super short!
Would have to try then to know of its worth sacrificing my baby blues lol
it's kinda the same when you use sunglasses. Nobody sees your pearly blues behind those lenses either.
7saany pearly blues? Lol
Yeah, what's the difference between that and sunglasses? I'll sacrifice mine instead of wearing giant, dark shades that obscure half my face.
Wow that is really cool! I wear contacts everyday but idk of my dark brown eyes will start to look pitch black that could really scare some people lol
I think it would look pretty cool.
Oh, it's all the rage. Regular contacts are sooo last year. Everyone's doing it. 😁👍 lol
👍
Cant wait to start wearing these! I got Lasik done 8 years ago and my vision has started deteriorating over the last 6 months or so to the point where eye drops don't seem to fix my vision anymore like they used too. I have life time warranty with my Lasik but honestly the dry eye it caused me was not worth the surgery at all and my optometrist said that that the dry eye would only get worse among other things if I were to get the surgery again. So I think I'm going back to wearing contacts.
Being someone with blue eyes I cannot wait to experience the outdoors with these bad boys!
OMG I've been wanting one of these for a long time
Yeah, did you see what he looked liked with just one?
I wanna look at a girl and I want my look to say, "I wanna eat you, and your soul"
I want to try them but they aren't made for astigmatisms. Hopefully they will make a version for it someday soon.
16Haverson same
Omg 😳 really this sucks! Because my eyes are so sensitive and now I use contacts with sun glasses ugh
I just got devastated
OMG, your eyes are stunning!!! 0_0
👍👍
You seem animated in a very good way in this video handsome man. :) Awesome eye technology.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video.
His positive attitude really intimidates me.
Regina Bedgood
Exactly....I don’t think they were made to be an alternative to shades though.
Are you pretty into halloween too?
Doctor Eye Health not as much as my post made it seem! that fact that it would just be everyday life is what makes it cooler
OMGGGFF I TWEETED YEARS AGO ABOUT WHY THERE WERENT ANY TRANSITION CONTACTS OMGGGG IM EXCITEDDD
👍👍💯
I’ve been wearing contacts for 30 years since I was ten. This is a literal childhood dream come true.
OMG I need these!
On one eye my iris is damaged due to a car accident, the pupil can't contract so I have a lot of sunglasses but none completly covers the light from the sides.
I always thought that this invention would be amazing, AND NOW THEY ARE REAL?! ♥
Sorry to hear about your Iris. Everything else Ok?
@@DoctorEyeHealth yeah, just some scars but everything's fine. :) I'm so happy about these lenses coming out.
Veryy good question
I’ve worn transition glasses for years, having my eyes exposed to sunlight without them is quite intense and blinding.
For some reason, it reminds me of the X-Chrom lens. But less demonic, since it covers your iris completely.
😎
We get them at my clinic April 1st and I can't wait!
SO EXCITED!
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR SOMETHING LIKE THIS FOR YEARS!!!!
I just got my first pair of glasses with transitions. Would love these. Thanks for sharing this.
happy to help!
I had no idea these were coming out! Oasys has been my brand for... well, since they came out as an advancement on the Acuvue2. Suuuuuuper excited to try them out because I hate wearing glasses/sunglasses, but living in AZ the sun makes an appearance far more often than not. Thank you for making this video or I would have been clueless.
So happy to help! I should have a full review with all the specs out in about a week.
This is super cool! Is it the first of its kind?
Yes! Brand new tech for a contact lens. Super exciting. Do you wear contacts?
Yes. I wear acuvue oasis with hydraluxe. I have crazy dry eyes
@@elliepark7712 Is the dry eye being managed okay?
@@elliepark7712 unfortunately, as you know I'm sure, contacts just tend to soak up moisture. Do you anything for the dryness?
Omg i finally got them! I really dont know if you remember my comment from 5 months ago on this exact video and my reply from 2 months ago saying i tried contact lenses at 11 yrs old 6 yrs ago well i am finally back to them with transition, i got them today (Monday 19 august 2019) and today wasn’t that much of a sunny day and there were clouds so i dont think i fully experienced the darkened “mode” yeah. It’s funny i cant wait to wake up tomorrow to put them back on and try to go in the sun more haha. Thanks to you i discovered those and now i have them. Yay 😁
P.S. oh and i just remembered, i have a question... are they available for astigmatism or will it even be? Thank you. :)
Hey Thanks for the follow up!!!! Great to hear you got the lenses and I hope they turn out fantastic! Unfortunately, they are not available in astigmatism at this time, and I dont know if they ever will be. Probably not for a few years anyway.
Are you still wearing these? Loving them or no?
Nina Cardoza yes i love them, I recommend them absolutely! In my case they’re a little drying for my eyes though. So I remove them when it gets dark outside or like at 8pm, and I put my glasses back on haha
@@gl-jp8up thank you
they looked purple for a min there and WOOOOOWW
I agree! I thought they were purple too
Transition contacts wow I never thought I’d see the day where these actually became real. Whoooooa
Would love to hear your opinion on laser eye surgery!
YES! I hope to have a series out on LASIK and other surgical procedures. Trying to coordinate with the LASER center is sometimes difficult.
drives into long tunnel and realizes I can't just take these off
Cool , can't wait I have very selective eyes to light , and I hate sunglasses.... how much are they going to run $?
About double of standard Acuvue Oasys...so roughly 350 for a year supply.
@@DoctorEyeHealth do I have to buy them at my optometrist?
@@jamesmorales710 You can always choose where you buy them, however often times your eye clinic will have special rebates to get you a better deal and you will be supporting a local business.
I've worn Acuvue Oasys for presbyopia for years. They're the only ones I'll use. This is interesting for sure!
👍
That would have helped me sooo much. I suffered terrible sensitivity to light for 15 years forcing me to wear black sunglasses at night which creeped people around me really out. Even regular stops by police because I looked obscure.
With me it depended on switching meds to dexamfetamine. Apparently dopamine agonists can really help 🤷🏻♀️ These lenses are a lifesaver to many hyper sensitive people
Do you know if they'll release these for astigmatism? I want them sooo bad.
Not yet. Probably have to wait 1-2 years for astigmatism. How bad is your astigmatism?
@@DoctorEyeHealth I really don't know. I haven't been to an eye doc for two or three years. I was really hoping these would be useful for me right away.
Jesus, i have no vision issues, but I had to watch this video just to see your gorgeousness. Damn.
Frederico Schmaltz, you’re gorgeous too
Frederico Schmaltz hey papa bonamana
LMAO
💯
I forgot to mention. The transitions lenses are a bit of a problem here in Vegas when driving. They darken up a lot from rhe sun but then I can barely see the gauges or not at all sometimes. Can't move them away because I can't see at all then. Frustrating!
Thats interesting. I have not been to Vegas yet. I can tell you that wearing these lenses while driving is actually pretty cool. They don't stay super dark but they do remain slightly opaque... and headlights dont seem as bright.
I needed these for highschool cheerleading during bright sunny games!
Personally this would be convenient for me because of work that I’m frequently in and outdoors. I just recently started wearing contacts. I’d definitely get these.
Try them out!
All glasses and contacts will be obsolete soon.... why?
On January 1st , everyone in the world will see 2020 !!!
Humor
😂🤣
I thought because of the free laser correction...
I see what u did there 👍
Hey 2020 sucks
This comment didn't age well. 2020 is dark, my man
Very interesting. When they transition, do they provide any UV protection like sunglasses?
Yes! 99%
I think they’re neat it’s definitely a step forward in contacts
For sure. We havent had a new tech like this in contacts for a long, long time
I have migraines and I can’t wait to try these out!! Sunglasses can be to heavy for my face and cause headaches so these will make such a difference
I feel like I spoke these into existence. I struggle with seeing well but it’s because of my alopecia and how light affects my eyes. These would be perfect for my naked eyes lml.
OH MY I NEED THIS
I'm so photosensitive I hope this works
I sure hope they help you! Im usually super sensitive too. Do you know why your so photosensitive?
Did anyone else’s eyes start to water when he put the lenses in?
Do you have ommetaphobia?
Are you always blinking this much?
Honestly, they should market it like crazy anywhere it snows. Sounds great for working on the computer while facing a window.
God I wish they made these for people with astigmatism. I could seriously use these. I have grey eyes and they're SUPER light sensitive. These would be a godsend
