When I was little watching this movie, always thought this song was super boring. Now that I’m older, I’ve come to the realization that this is actually the BEST song from the whole musical. Argue with a wall!
People thought so little of rizzo because she was promiscuous. But this song showed how strong she really was. In a time where men took advantage of women’s vulnerability she exercised her strength And power as a women and never relinquished her vulnerability to someone who was unworthy.
I love how it changes as she goes through the song. Especially when she gets to "I could hurt someone like me." Just the way she scrunches herself up thinking about how she hurt Kenickie. Just everything. Also we can't ignore how beautifully she rocks that purple top. 💜
I just love she told the story on this. The misunderstood female. No one sings it as well infact if anything they all make the mistake of oversinging it. Listen carefully she's talking not falsettoing it
There are worse things I could do, Than go with a boy or two. Even though the neighborhood thinks I'm trashy, And no good, I suppose it could be true, But there are worse things I could do. I could flirt with all the guys, Smile at them and bat my eyes. Press against them when we dance, Make them think they stand a chance, Then refuse to see it through. That's a thing I'd never do. I could stay home every night, Wait around for Mr. Right. Take cold showers every day, And throw my life away, On a dream that won't come true. I could hurt someone like me, Out of spite or jealousy. I dont steal and I dont lie, But I can feel and I can cry. A fact I'll bet you never knew. But to cry in front of you, That's the worst thing I could do. I love this song. Thanks a lot, eneskeskin1907!!
Now i'm 58 years old ... but i remember when i hear this song for the first time (i was 14 yo) and i fall in love with this music and also with Stockard. (Excuse my bad english, i'm French) ❤🇫🇷
I have sung this song many times in karaoke, changing the song's genders. And no, I never came even close to sounding as good as Stockard, but I just love this song.
If we are so evil, than why do I cry every-time I hear this song? Not only was she very beautiful, this song is one of the top three on the soundtrack (in my opinion). She really does look like Elizabeth Taylor...
Like most boys in those days, I was in love with Olivia and was gutted when I found out she was 30! But I loved Rizzo as well. Just too young at the time to fully understand her. Although I had an idea.
I loved this movie and I always thought Ms Channing was the best actor in it. Every movie I ever seen her in her character was fully fleshed out, believable, and real. Greatly underrated.
I worked on an adolescent psych ward in the 80s. Once the nurses were all excited cuz they found these words written out by a teen and assumed authorship. I had to burst the bubble..."It's from Grease".
Now THAT is funny! Due to a lack of musical and cultural reference, they diagnosed something as unusual that wasn't. I hope that doesn't take more fateful forms.
This is very difficult to pitch correctly. It has very large leaps and odd intervals. Stockyard Channing is an excellent singer. She also has the best bit in ‘ Summer Nights’ where the music has two extra beats ie a bar of six rather than four where she sings,” It sounds like a drag!” Brilliant!
Could be sisters although Elizabeth is obviously the more attractive. But she was one of the worlds most beautiful women in her day. Stockard was still very attractive. She had that 'something'. A bit of innocence despite the portrayal of Rizzo who on the surface was a bit of a floozy.
When stockard Channing hits the part where she says I don't steal and I don't lie, she sounds like Ethel merman singing. LOL it always cracked me up but otherwise she does a fantastic job
I could hurt someone like me Out of spite or jealousy I don't steal and I don't lie But I can feel and I can cry A fact I'll bet you never knew But to cry in front of you That's the worst thing I could do

I fully understand what you're saying about people gossiping. I told my son something that he held onto for a long time. The difference between a lady and a whore are boys who talk about things they have absolutely no knowledge of. But with just one sentence they can ruin a lady whether it's true or not.
Channing does a great version but she doesn't attempt to rhyme neighborhood good at the end of trashy and no good. She rolls hood right into the word thinks. The original and other stage versions stop after hood for a moment to make it rhyme with good in rhythm. Also, she's not a great singer but a good one, but that's what makes her version so believable. As well, she's an actress, she brings and authenticity to the visual aspect of it.
I must be odd, because this is my absolutely favourite song of the whole movie. The tune and lyrics are so good.
It IS the best song
You are correct. Stockard's interpretation is so perfect as well.

Agreed! Best song!
It is the best song

She's so beautiful. And that voice. Muah.
Absolutely the best song in the whole musical. Always loved Rizzo.
Just a masterpiece of a song that has many elements.
What a voice! Such a beautiful song! I could listen to Ms Channing sing this all day!
For me, Stockard gave the stand-out performance of that movie. It had heart which the movie needed in a secondary character.
Frankly, she gave stand-out performances in every movie she was!!!!!
I agree. Hard to believe if it wasn’t for her, this song probably would of been cut!

I love this
❤️❤️
She looks really beautiful in this role. She sings well and gives a great deal to the movie.
Rizzo is the bomb
I LOVE THIS TRAXXXX BY RIZZO BY STOCKARD CHANNING - ICONIC FROM THE MOVIE GREASE ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Still pulls at the heart strings after 40 odd years. Amazing performance.
I loved this song the most on Grease soundtrack.
NOT ONLY IS THIS SONG LEGENDARY AND EPIC BUT THE BODY LANGUAGE IN WHICH STOCKARD SOLD IT WAS AS WELL💯

My heart belongs to Rizzo, inlove since way back then
There are worse things I could do,
Than go with a boy or two.
Even though the neighborhood thinks I'm trashy,
And no good,
I suppose it could be true,
But there are worse things I could do.
I could flirt with all the guys,

Make them think they stand a chance,
Then refuse to see it through.
That's a thing I'd never do.
I could stay home every night,
Wait around for Mr. Right.
Take cold showers every day,
And throw my life away,
On a dream that won't come true.
I could hurt someone like me,
Out of spite or jealousy.
I dont steal and I dont lie,
But I can feel and I can cry.
A fact I'll bet you never knew.
But to cry in front of you,
That's the worst thing I could do.

I was a spotty teenager in 1978 with a crush on Stockard Channing after watching Grease, but I had no idea that she was 33 years old at the time

I have a copy of this movie in my collection. This is a big song in America.
Sublime!
I Wonder If i am.the only one who think that she looks like the late actress Elizabeth Taylor?
A bit
Could be sisters although Elizabeth is obviously the more attractive. But she was one of the worlds most beautiful women in her day. Stockard was still very attractive. She had that 'something'. A bit of innocence despite the portrayal of Rizzo who on the surface was a bit of a floozy.

This is her karma for making fun of Sandy.

What joke? Until the truth came out she was talked about and made fun of.
Yeap now she suffering silently for Nicky while he's with other girls and doing his thing..
