I had forgotten all about Cactus Flower. It was a fairly common, late-sixties film at a time when movies were opening windows to let fresh air into moral issues. Many men were already crushing on Goldie via Laugh-in, so her casting as the Walter Mathau dentist character's tantalization was perfect.

I was a little girl and my father was abuser. His was cruel. He had violent outbursts and kept shouting at me and trying to convince me that I was nothing. But I don't belive him, becаuse everytime, when he were saying me something like this, in my mind i was remembering this song: "You don't know me / You don't know me!" This song was my mental defance of his evil words. This song for me is postulate and hymn of freedom and the desire to decide for myrself, what kind of person I should be and how to live my own life, whatever he sad about me. THANK YOU to the authors and this great actress for this song, it saved my soul! “You don’t know me,” but I KNOW myself!
My mother was like that too, minus the violence, but a lot of yelling and to this day, she is a control freak. For me, this is one of those songs that I keep in a playlist that is meant to lift my spirits
I have three sisters, but could never choose who I wanted to play most in our driveway practices & performances. I was the only one who liked turtle necks and men's trench coats (I liked Vogue in the 90's & my sister's were more into Hilary Duff *who could blame them, Cadette Kelly was the tits*), so I ended up playing Diane Keaton a lot even though half red hair. My older sister had short hair and used sun in (of course lmao) and she liked Bette's skirt. My younger sister was my mom's mini me & therefore loved Goldie Hawn. God these are such good memories. Especially the time we did the whole thing in our Christmas roller blades (minus the chair part). *and yes we used all of my mother's white clothes, but once it had started it was too late*
I was probably 12 when this movie came out on VHS and let me tell you I must have watched this movie 100 times. I'm pretty sure I could still recite every line of this movie.
I don't care how many i watch this movie, it send chills down my back because it delivers one powerful message to all us women that we count. Bette Midler, Goldie Hawn and Diane Keaton are just so awesome together.
Absolutely, but the words hit home, not due to the feminist times but logic proved each girl must learn to be responsible for herself not cling to a man for survival. To be strong learn to educate yourself and then work to save yourself and earn a living to survive in this crazy world.
A fabulous version of this song!! Bette has the voice and Diane is really good, but I can’t take my eyes off of Goldie- elegant moves and great rhythm !!
I believe Goldie started out as a dancer if I remember correctly. I’m old enough to remember her on Laugh In in the ‘60s. A standout in an exceptional cast of performers
I genuinely love this version on the song, I can't put my finger on it, but just the chemistry between these three ladies and their dancing like they don't give a shit anymore and walking away like they've been liberated and I just love it. I've probably seen this movie, but I don't really remember it other than this song. 🙈 Will have to watch it again.
When this song first came out young women were expected to get married, stay home, have a few kids, and worship their husbands... this song was revolutionary and Leslie Gore was a true heroine for having the nerve to release it. There was tremendous backlash against it... I was in high school in Ohio at the time and I knew a dozen girls whose parents forbade them to listen to it - they did anyway - and , for some of them at least, it had a profound effect on their lives.

This is one of my favorite movies. Casting for this movie was absolutely brilliant. I watched this every chance I got as a little girl in the 90's. I was far too young to understand the dark emotions behind the suicide of a friend, divorce, or building a business but I always just really loved the friendship between the Goldie's, Bette's, and Diane's characters. Every time they shared the scene they were either a lot of fun or really compassionate. And I *loved* the musical bit at the end and would get up and dance and sing around the living room with them. lol
I am a Brit, and I remember this film being on the tv, and we recorded it on our vhs (remember those). My husband loved this film and we played the song ending over and over, dancing the moves. The 1990s music owes its very existence to the 1950s and 1960s and 1970s - those are the "roots" music decades. R.I.P. Icon Lesley Gore. Cheers, DAVEDJ ~
I absolutely love this clip of this song! As well as these three super talented stars! Dianne, Bette, and Goldie are fantastic! I always thought there should have been a sequel where the ladies either find love again, or huge success around the globe. Couldn't you just see them trekking from one place to another! The comedy writes itself!!
The First Wives' Club (if I recall correctly the title of this awesome movie in English) is just amazing. The first time I watched it I was laughing, I was yelling at the TV, I was crying and was smiling like a crazy person when they started to sing. Such great talents; probably one of the best endings ever.
I'm here because I guess I lucked out 54 years ago married to a man who didn't say I had to do his bidding! At nearly 72 I've had a blast travel places most only dream of, owned my own business, an did things because of that business that was definitely on my bucket list. Point is find the right man he doesn't own you, he adores you, loves you, n you walk thru life with places to go and things to do sometimes together n sometimes alone. But he always near if needed, that's love at its best . ❤️
Every time I see this scene I always have such a bitter sweet feeling towards this movie 🤣😩💔❤️ my bitter ass needed a second one!! Actually is that possible!? Can we get a sequel!? I would love that!!
Goldie Hawn, Cher, Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Julie Walters, Cate Blanchette and Angelina Jolie are my favourite actresses of all time especially Goldie and Meryl x
Estelle Collins Even though she's a newer actress, I would add Jennifer Lawrence to that list. Time will be VERY kind to her career. She has the looks sure, but she undoubtedly has the talent to be added to that list.
I was about nine when I saw the movie for the first time. Today a friend showed me a new version of the song but for me this is the best version. Great and funny movie, legendary actresses...a perfect ending scene.

I love this movie. LOVE it. Also this song, and Lesley Gore was indeed courageous to sing it. It absolutely defied social convention at that time. I didn't know until I saw this that Goldie Hawn could sing. Love Bette, and Diane Keaton's voice isn't terrible!

I know this might be offensive to some but this is the best version of this song. Probably because this is where I first heard it and fell in love with it but I must not be alone With 7.5m views! So inspirational with the movie. Especially since I'm a divorced woman now lol

Girl, I used to blast this in my room. Me and my mom loved this movie!!!
Me too, gave me goosebumps.
Walking into work, where you about to put in your two week notice; YOU DON'T OWWWWN ME.
Oh Hell Yeah Melissa!! Except I didn't give notice! Sucks to be them!!!!!
I gin put this in my registration letter
I love how you can see each woman's individual personalities and styles shine through. Goldie Hawn LMAO,
Three iconic women! This is such a funny, cute & liberating scene. I bet they had a BLAST filming it. These women r hysterical & really just incredible in every role they have taken on, so to see them together in 1 movie is such a treat!!
Simple music can make you sing simple hug can make you feel better simple things can make you happy, i hope my simple Hello brings smile to your face!..
I seriously had the best childhood ever mannn there will never be another era like the 90s !!!
Jay Briggs lmao y’all 90s babies think all the great things ended as soon when it became 2000💀💀
Jay Briggs seriously! I was just going through a couple of 80s movies I watched as a kid in the 90s, this was one of them, beaches was another I came across today. And honestly they both brought me so far back!! I can only hope my kids will get that feeling one day with movies I watch with them
The 1990s music owes its very existence to the 1950s and 1960s and 1970s - those are the "roots" music decades. R.I.P. Icon Lesley Gore. Cheers, DAVEDJ ~
90s was the best decade to grow up tbh
I miss the 80s and 90s
I absolutely love this clip of this song! As well as these three super talented stars! Dianne, Bette, and Goldie are fantastic! I always thought there should have been a sequel where the ladies either find love again, or huge success around the globe. Couldn't you just see them trekking from one place to another! The comedy writes itself!!
Yea, wish there had bn a sequel, too. Wld've bn fabulous,.....kind of like Sex and the City.
This movie opened my young eyes to a lot of different issues and I will be forever grateful for it.
Supesfan88 thank you, next
Supesfan88 same
I love all three of these ladies! They are all uniquely talented. Such a pleasure to watch. Timeless…
Goosebumps every time from these stellar, timeless ladies. Get it GOLDIE!!! ❤️
Goldie Hawn is everything
and she passed it to kate hudson :)
They rule!
Bette rules!
Let's be honest - all three of them rule! :)
ok, but Bette is the Voice!
THANKS Lesley, you'll be missed, but never forgotten.
I absolutely love this song and these three singing it.
The First Wives' Club (if I recall correctly the title of this awesome movie in English) is just amazing. The first time I watched it I was laughing, I was yelling at the TV, I was crying and was smiling like a crazy person when they started to sing. Such great talents; probably one of the best endings ever.
Three woman all resonating at the very highest vibration known, The creators deserve their share in this gorgeous presentation.
I want to see this movie again!!! Forgot how much I love these beautiful ladies!!
Thank for your show❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Gawd. They are all so damn beautiful in 3 totally different ways.
This will ALWAYS be one of my favorite movies and scenes. Such absolute ICONS ❤️❤️❤️
What a knock-out trio. Great performance!!🤗👽💥💫💥💫
Always got sad at the end of this movie as a kid. I wanted to sashay my ass down that road with them and see where the hell they went.
They went to freedom!!!!
Shanté you stay Lance Lansdale sashay away
Me Too!😢🤣
Every time I see this scene I always have such a bitter sweet feeling towards this movie 🤣😩💔❤️ my bitter ass needed a second one!! Actually is that possible!? Can we get a sequel!? I would love that!!
Tman we are in the age of revivals anything is possible
The joy of understanding Freedom and living it. Yes!!!
One of the best movie endings ever! Always puts a smile on my face!

Movie is great 👍
Goldie Hawn is a classic beauty, as well as being very talented!
Goldie is my absolute favourite!!!
William S Mine too!
Goldie Hawn, Cher, Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Julie Walters, Cate Blanchette and Angelina Jolie are my favourite actresses of all time especially Goldie and Meryl x
Estelle Collins
Even though she's a newer actress, I would add Jennifer Lawrence to that list. Time will be VERY kind to her career. She has the looks sure, but she undoubtedly has the talent to be added to that list.
Goldie dancing to We are Family in Private Benjamin!
I was about nine when I saw the movie for the first time.
Today a friend showed me a new version of the song but for me this is the best version.
Great and funny movie, legendary actresses...a perfect ending scene.
You have great taste!!
yes!!
Kevin H. Pilgrim what's the name of the movie?
nils lucas The new version is from Suicide Squad.
Kevin H. Pilgrim honestly same

I can't get my eyes off Goldie Hawn when she's dancing 😍😍😍 So beautiful!!!
Goldie is beautiful and very sexy too, she always was and always will be.
Thao Nguyen she looked like she was having WAY too much fun with this scene lmao
Me to, love Goldies moves.. 💖🍀🇮🇪
I love this movie. LOVE it. Also this song, and Lesley Gore was indeed courageous to sing it. It absolutely defied social convention at that time. I didn't know until I saw this that Goldie Hawn could sing. Love Bette, and Diane Keaton's voice isn't terrible!
We are human,we believe and are alive we Owe it to ourselves
Beautiful performances buy the three superstars of yesterday this is what's missing in today's performances showmanship at its best thank you first wives club Diane Goldie bette
Omg can’t count how many times I’ve watched this version a day. Literally addicted to it
My mother raised me with this movie❤️ My first lessons of women empowerment I got from these 3 ladies❤️
One of THE best scenes....oh for Goldie Hawns figure, Bette Midlers voice and Diane K
3eatons talent....
Jane Byrne
.
I know this might be offensive to some but this is the best version of this song. Probably because this is where I first heard it and fell in love with it but I must not be alone With 7.5m views! So inspirational with the movie. Especially since I'm a divorced woman now lol
Elizabeth Calloway I was around when Leslie Gore released rhis and this is my favorite!!!
Elizabeth Calloway
Elizabeth Calloway the first version I heard was as part of Dirty Dancing soundtrack, but this version performed by such talented actresses is unforgetable
Definitely.
It’s the best for me because it actually relates to the song ( my opinion tho)
Three drop dead gorgeous ladies,❤️❤️❤️. Cheers from Michael. Australia
im a man but this empowers my inner woman lol
Edit 3 years later: I've never had this many likes before! 😮 but I'm more happy about the comments and how it made people laugh and smile. Warms my heart. And made my day
Carlos Wildermann Hahahaha. I was thinking exactly the same. If I ever have a daughter this is gonna be a movie I’ll show her.

I used rewind the hell out of my VHS as a kid during this scene. One my fav movies period! Perfect cast. Also, Goldie low key served VOCALS & LOOKS!
The caliber of these women. How much they made me laugh in my youth and still do. Love them. ☺😍🤩

I loved the movie. And I love how this song is sung by these three great ladies! ❤️❤️❤️
Great scene. These three women are wonderful singers and have such great chemistry.
Loved this film and what a perfect ending with this song, love it💖🍀🇮🇪
I remember Goldie on Laugh In as a dumb blonde. She's come along way. Diane in the God father. Plus outlandish Bette with her great singing turns into a movie star. Cool movie and all three woman are great women in their own way.
HOOOOOW .. the best memories are always beautiful, I think their love and ambition is the support of their own way which have turned into a Star Cinema,
Abdelwahed Zaidi
I did not say she was stupid. I said she played a dumb blonde on Laugh In and has come a long way from that role.
They are full of life, like the Angels, even more full of light,. This is an error that referra more, my apologies,,, especially with these great Star
Abdelwahed Zaidi
