Good choice. There are a lot of interesting things going on in these tunes in terms of waveform manipulation. Also, I never made it off the first stage so it’s good to finally hear what the rest of the game sounded like.
Poor Dunn. Such great tunes and the only ones people heard after loading were: First stage, tunnels, game over. A lot to learn in difficulty balancing, back then. 😄
The trick were to remember where the needed items in the tunnel are and then run quickly to them as possible. If i remember correctly there have been 3 or 4 spots where you could find them. The labyrinth itself never changed.
This was a VERY interesting video, a wonderful demonstration! I've never seen like this. Now I can understand some expert tricks of the good old SID chip and the genial programmers of this. I admire the main title music, 0:00, that is number one of all C64 tracks, a thrilling delectation. I've found the composer: Naoki Kodaka. (Update: WRONG)
There were tons of Vietnam movies before "Platoon". Albeit Platoon being a well made movie Oliver Stone is a sad idiot. There are reasons why he is widely known as Putin boot-licker, and of course he's an anti-Semite.

One of the most underrated C64 tunes. What a fantastic memory.
That and last ninja rule over all others
It really fits the game too feels like like the movie
One of the best C64 music ever made! Fantastic!
One of the most amazing C64 soundtracks ever written. Awesome :)
Instruments that start with a blast of triangle before switching to saw/square are all like "PNAR PNA-PNA-PNAAAARRR"
The soundtrack of my childhood.
I used to load up the music file for platoon just to listen to the main theme.
That part at 5:16 is amazing. This sounds so good.
> entering the combat zone

Same here!! 30 years later and I still haven’t! Just constantly getting blammed by those bloody tripwires!!!
07:18 Heavenly music!
Got introduced to Dunn by the iconic RoboCop game title, the man is legendary in my eyes
And again: thank you very much vor oscolliscoping the whole soundtrack of this great war game for the C64!

I remember one time I got through the tunnels with no clue how. I died soon after as the next level confused the heck out of me

Cracked game with infinite lives saw me to the end.

The composer is actually Jonathan Dunn, and Kodaka covered it for the NES port of this game.
@@acrouzet Thank you, I misunderstood the info seen on the NES version. Then the real composer to be celebrated is Jonathan Dunn, I will remember him.
How has this have so little likes. Badass music.
This is the soundtrack to my wasted youth
"The first real casualty of war is innocence. The first real movie about the war in Vietnam is Platoon."
Rambo 1
Deer hunter?
Johnny got his gun (1971)

@@LarsTragel-zh7ei That.. was a lot
Liked Jonathan Dunn's SID music. It was more clipped and introverted than Galway's. Had a nice clarity to it.
Commando? Check.
Tetris? Check.
Platoon? Check.
Now, if only someone could do Zig Zag, that would make my day...
The first casualty of war is innocence.
fantastic!
11:02 this sound reminds me of old Duracell Coppertop commercials
Great soundtrack.. I remember the game as quite scary.. In the same genre : Could you do "Lost Patrol" (ingame) ?
First song is ironically a banger.
Tune around 16:00 sound like the bass is rushing.
can u do Jammer - Shodan

not just horrible music but also horrible sound design
Says the dude with the opinion literally NOBODY asked for.
This music was literally made on a computer from 1982, what more did you expect?
...and a horrible posting as well!
