Here’s our review of Cozy Grove I was really keen to get some decent time on this one - what are your thoughts on it - oh and the spelling error on Cozy/Cosy was TOTALLY intentional on the video (runs away and hides in shame ha!) Cheers guys, Mark.
So glad you reviewed this, it was worth it in my eyes for under £10 , I'm a budget eshopper I saw this n thought don't starve art style with a animal crossing type carefree playstyle
Overall the game is relaxing, it has multiple songs that changes when one song ends, the character’s movement is cute, and the art style is so classy. However compared to some other sim games like Animal Crossing, there are stuff I dislike in Cozy Grove: 1. You can’t give your player a name. 2. Really cringey sounds when scrolling though the menu. 3. You have to use two buttons to use a fishing rod. ZR to throw and A to reel in. And those sequences are hard to remember. Whereas in Animal Crossing, those actions are done with A. 4. To cancel a throw, you have to lower the throwing power then press ZR which costs a few seconds. 5. You cannot sit on furniture and place objects on top of tables. (I know this isn’t Animal Crossing but it’ll be nice to have that ability in this game as well). 6. Really soft dialogue sounds from NPCs or maybe the volume in the options wasn’t loud enough. 7. You cannot eat the cooked dishes or fruits/vegetables you’ve harvested. 8. In this game 1 brown coin is 1. 1 silver coin is 100. It’ll takes a lot to get your savings up to 1,000. In Animal Crossing 1 coin is 100 bells. And you can spend on items quickly. 9. I can easily forget that Y opens up your pack and X shows your quests. 10. When selecting multiple items, you have to press X to select more than one and Y to immediately sell/donate/store the item which I find confusing. In Animal Crossing, to sell/discard an item, I can just use A to select multiple items. EDIT: 11. It’s really complicated to catch bugs. You cannot move with the net equipped. And all the bugs are timid and easily run away from you. 12. You can name your pets but you have to select the pre-made names instead of using a keyboard to type a name of your own. 13. The rocks where the iron ores are mined are hard to find since it blends into the land in both the lit and unlit sections and worse yet, there’s a quest that needs them. (Thank God an update solved this but doesn’t always work most of the time) 14. The cooking update just came out in Animal Crossing and the cooking time is very reliable and fast. Cooking in this game though, I have to wait FIVE MINUTES for my dish to finish. Why? 15. The machete, shovel and pickaxe breaks after several uses. In order to mend it, you have to let the durability reach 0 and then gather several materials to fix them. Whereas in Animal Crossing when tools break, you have the option to buy another from the store.
As someone who has played it for a few days, I really like this game. It seems a little repetitive but I think that the system of limiting the amount of time you can spend on the game per day really helps prevent the gameplay from getting stale. Performance isn't amazing but it's decent. I think a few more updates would really make this game great.
The game is better when played a little each day as intended. I am enjoying the pace and the connection to real world time. The fetch quests get you moving around the island to discover new things and it is a different kind of hidden object game. I find Cozy Grove to be relaxing and recomend for anybody trying to escape the stress of life for a mere hour a day. The game is like a cross between Animal Crossing, Spiritfarer, and A Short Hike. It may not appeal to everyone, but I sure like it.
I pre-ordered this! I play this game before bed, and honestly I have adjusted my dates multiple times. I'm on day 22 now. Unlocked a bunch of npcs. *Spoiler alert, I guess?* You also get to unlock a dowsing rod (for unlocking more memories), a pickaxe for mining, a machete, a bakery for more cooking, etc. Also the story gets a bit dark the more you play. Regarding the comment about stardew valley-esque stuff, aside from fishing, you can take care of birds that will give you essences for crafting, plant trees and flowers. Also, do you know you can cook by your fire? Pro tip: burn your mushrooms and root crops and sell to kit (a.k.a redd look-a-like lol) you can earn easy money from it. My main issue is controls, like when you have multiple furnitures side by side and trees, it's a bit hard to harvest said trees. Even if i'm already facing the tree, I still end up accessing a nearby furniture. Also, I get really bad dips when the game is autosaving. The game obviously stutters. Not sure if it's because of the number of npcs I have, the number of furniture strewn about or how I play the game (cause I time travel a.k.a adjust my dates often) Sorry about the long comment. I just love this game even with the issues. ❤️
Got this on release day and it’s been a blast so far! I haven’t played in a few days because of work but I’ll definitely be back on tonight. Looking forward to it!
This art style and music is incredibly relaxing. I had 0 interest when I opened this vid and am now waiting to see what it’s shortcomings are to see if it’s yet another game to pick up
Hi, simply wanted to say I love your channel and the way you ranked the different characteristics for each of your games ! For both this game and my time at Portia you convinced me to buy them with the quality of the content you offer. I’ll definitely keep watching your videos ! Thank you !
Wishlist for now. This looks so beautiful and I love those relaxing Sim games for sure. With a bit more content and refinement this could easily compete with things like littlewood, animal crossing, and Graveyard Keeper. I think it will need something extremely substantial to catch up to Stardew Valley though.
As someone who only can play in smaller sessions, and that loves games like Srardew Valley and Spiritfarer (I thought it sounds a lot like it), I think I might get this one!
I feel you have definite done this title justice with your review. When it comes to this type of game, I gravitate more towards the Survivalist or something with a horror/nightmare side to it to make things interesting. For those that are interested, I think they will find the price point very appealing.
I know this is a Nintendo switch channel but I just got this game yesterday for PlayStation 4 and I absolutely love it I'm almost completely blind so I'm not good at playing anymore handheld systems anymore like Gameboys and such like that so the switch wouldn't be a good option for me but I'm thoroughly enjoying it on PlayStation 4 and I probably played a little bit too much of it last night considering I have to go see the family for the holidays today now I'm super tired LOL, thanks so much for the review!
Spiritfarer is a masterpiece and deserves more attention. I bought it full price and would pay one more time. It just perfectly suits my needs. I hope you enjoy the game as well. It's so cozy and mature.
I love this game so much. It gives me the same cozy feeling I had playing AC fanatically for couple of months although it is less complex than AC. At first I was kinda disappointed that it requires looking for items hidden behind bushes every single day. But then I just changed my mindset and started to treat the hidden items quests as a major part of the game :) I started to enjoy it. Having said that I mostly play on iPhone because of the nature of the game. It is perfect mobile game when you approach it correctly - log in daily for an hour or so. Because of that I am on a verge if I want to buy it on Switch. Without changing console clock the game will be frustrating.
I had never heard of this game but the insanely cute art style drew me in. I love animal crossing and stardew valley so this game was easy to pick up. Its relaxed and very charming :)
I'm really enjoying Cozy Grove, it's really calming and therapeutic and I look forward to playing it each day. I agree with you on performance. I'm actually on the Cozy Grove discord and I believe I read that they're trying to fix the performance issues but it takes a little longer to get to switch. I'm still super enjoying despite the performance. Sophie :)
I got this game on a whim because I needed something to cheer me up and it definitely fit that purpose. It's so relaxing. There's a weird issue where sometimes the characters will switch from speaking German to English (my Switch is set to German), but it doesn't bother me too much. All in all, I can't wait to go back every day.
In many ways, this game was better than animal crossing. You don’t have to worry about missing items, as it’s based on completed tasks/days actually played. The pacing is 98% perfect. When you get closer to the end of the game, you’ve mainly collected all of your items so it may start to feel stale. The main issue I have is the lagging
this game is so nice, it's just delightful i'm bummed that the daily quest limit seems fairly small but at the same time that keeps things from getting tedious i suppose i just adore the aesthetic and vibe of this game soooo much, it's just NICE
I actually bought this yesterday along with signs of the Sojourner and Dicey Dungeons. That art style was too much to resist this. It's a comfort game so I don't mind these minor flaws.
great review! ive been going back and forth about getting this game because currently im really into stardew valley and i was wondering if another life sim type game is something i really want to do, but i like that it doesnt let you play too long! and on the other hand, i couldnt play animal crossing for more than a month because it was too unstructured for me so this really seems like a great medium! keep up the great work!
I am so happy I found this game, I play it every night before sleep for several weeks now and it is ✨ perfect ✨ for this "getting ready to sleep" gameplay!
I like how things get more color after some time. It sets a nice tone to progress. But what I don't like is that 30-60 minutes a day of gameplay. I have a tendency to hyperfixate or, that, I usually sit for 2-3 hours before moving on. Well now I know this title isn't for me. Thanks guys!
I agree with all that was said. I love the game, but sometimes it feels like playing a mobile game. On my 4th day it was impossible to do any quest because of the game mechanics. I needed to upgrade the shop, the shop closed due to upgrade, I couldn't buy the right ingredient so I couldn't cook the food for the quest and I couldn't cook any other food because I didn't finish the quest and I couldn't cook the quest food for another bear. Now you all know more than you expected. Enjoy the game!
I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t disappointed to hear about the performance and controls issues. I can see how the price is still right and makes the game still worth the purchase but I’m not sure it should contribute to the backlog or take time away from other games that are already there. Hopefully they continue to improve it because it is very nice to look at.
Spot on review. I've played it since launch, and quite enjoying it in bursts, but performance and the controls lets it down quite a bit (I've been stuck behind things I can't see far too many times), as well as a bit too many "fetch this" tasks. It looks absolutely marvellous though, and it's got charm in spades.
Really love the art and music in this game. The lower price doesn't hurt too!! Unfortunately I don't like having to go into games every day as it starts feeling like a chore, so this will be a pass for me.
Thanks for this. I pre-ordered this one, stuck with it for a few days, then kinda gave up. The daily hard limit on what I could do just... didn't work for me. That said, your review giving me some idea of what lies ahead has encouraged me to perhaps give it another go. If I can adjust my mindset/expectations for this game towards something I play for just a few minutes once a day, I could see myself getting attached over the long haul - maybe. Here's hoping, anyway. Thanks again!
I'm only a few days in but really enjoying it. Love the music but wish there were a few more songs. Handheld is definitely the preferred way to play with the touchscreen making it much easier to control. Performance is a bit iffy but fine. I like the daily approach as well. Think I'm going to enjoy this one
Got this for $1 after seeing it on sale in Argentina region today .💕 I played AC before and this game looks the same but different . Lovin this game so far , helps me heal my burnout from playing AC for a long time . 😅❤️🇵🇭
Many thanks for this review. I would have gone with this... especially for a tenner. But my gameplay schedule is a few hours at a time 2 -3 times a week due to work and my childrdn. Because of the time cap this isn't for me, on the days i can play uninterrupted, I prefer to spend those 3 hours on one game to make the most of my time.
It’s definitely a cross between spirit fairer and animal crossing. (Howels moving Castle lol) and because it’s not an original idea they have to fill it with Go Get This…. So it’s repetitive after a while. I give it 6/10 - the story of characters is cute tho.
Only played for 2-3 hours a day for the last 3 days since purchasing so far but I am finding it more interesting and much less frustrating than Animal Crossing. Instant chat with characters makes for much more streamlined interactions than AC along with the crafting, vendoring and collection (AC museum) much quicker too. There is a slowly unfolding story to be unlocked by doing your daily tasks for the resident Spirits on the island which I'm guessing will be a little like Spiritfarer. Also the fishing is much easier and more interesting to do with aiming and adjusting power allowing you to drop lures right on top of you target and the fish go for your lure quicker and will bite within 4 nudges. The different furniture and pet types having their own preferences which makes you think about what combinations will give the maximum "happiness" which then gives you more rewards. The placement system could be better by letting you actually hold and move an item before placing but after a few goes you get used to how you need to position yourself first. Given what I've said above and the fact this game is a quarter of Animal Crossing's price I would recommend this as the better game. The only things AC does this doesn't is have the the high volume of novelty decorations and customisable clothes and housing as well as the ability to visit your friends Islands.
I love Animal Crossing and this looks super cute I’m thinking about getting this :) I think that I could really get into this game :) great review thank you :)
Great review. The art style is lovely but I don’t like the idea of being limited on what you can do in a day. I haven’t even time travelled in Animal Crossing. 😂 Cheers!
Just gonna put this one on my wishlist and wait for a sale, I'm not really into real time gaming but it looks and feels like don't starve and love that game on mobile and ps4.
Limiting progression is an absolute no go for me. I have learned from many games that you don't mess with your device's clock as you can corrupt other games/files all at once
I bought it on release date and I quite like it. Having a stressfull day job this game is a great break. What i dislike though is that you have wait to gather some materials. And the waiting would not be the worst part, but so there is a part on my island that isn't coloured for days😒
Agreed. I binge games and have a job/schedule that includes very little routine. I think that’s part of why I don’t really like animal crossing all that much.
Littlewood might be for you then. It's been a blast for me. The time goes by off of you completing tasks or doing things in general, filling up a bar like xp. It's only $15 too.
@@daniellebackus819 Haha heck yea. That game is addicting. It takes some hints from stardew definitely. Imo its an easier stardew with a mix of forager.
Ahh dang I was pretty interested in this one as the Don't Starve vibes drew my attention but as someone who likes to press on and get a lot done in a single game session the "Come back tomorrow!" game mechanic kills it for me. Welp back to cowering around a fire and whacking scary shadow hands for me!
I pre-purchased the game and have not been disappointed. I don't time travel, and I have no problem with delayed gratification. It's refreshing to have limits to what you can do in a day, so you don't feel guilty or like you're missing something if you don't keep playing for hours. I love the pastel shades of the world/island. The softness just adds to the cozy and comfortable feeling of the game. The music may be repetitive, but when I'm focused on a task, it doesn't really bother me. In fact, there are times when the tune changes over to the main tune and I suddenly realize that I had been listening to something different. I guess that means that it does fade into the background after a while, which is where it should be. This game may not be for everyone, but it fits nicely into my own personal niche of casual gameplay.
I was staring at the time until you said it was real time. I didn't think the game was going to be like Animal Crossing, I was thinking more of Don't Starve. I do love Animal Crossing but I'm not sure if I could add another real-time game for now.
damn you did such a good review on this game today came across seeing it and your video still has me stuck should I or should I not 😭😭😭😭😭 it’s the graphics and things I love but my responsibility level to daily play the game within those amount of hours idk
I played for about 10 hours on PC and you are right about the game lacking variety. The music and visuals are the best part. This game is sort of a knock-off Animal Crossing but doesn't do anything better. It is fun if you like that game, but I don't think Cozy Grove is that great. It is worth buying for the price though.
was thinking about picking this up, but after watching your review i’m definitely gonna hold off, if i get that itch i’ll just sink some more hours into animal crossing. doesn’t really look like there’s a lot of content here, and the “ghosts” look mostly like bears. might pick it up later on but for now, it’s a pass. in the us eshop, it’s $13.46, so around $15 with tax, and that’s on sale. if it were $10 i might pick it up but for now, it’s a pass. thanks for the review! beautiful job. ALSO! turns out it’s also on apple arcade, which is becoming a more and more attractive deal at $5 a month for a catalog of 100+ games. so i guess i’ll check it out on ios :)
The art is phenomenal except that the character eyes bug me for some reason. Seems like a great little enjoyable chore game though. Great coverage as always!
There were issues? I've been playing since launch and have yet to run into any issues except for the text of one quest! Mine hasn't patched yet so I suppose I should check for an update. I really like games I can dip in and out of for short sessions. This is basically the opposite of my most disliked game ever: Monster hunter. :P For the low stress crowd this is lovely.
Not to sure how I feel about the limited things to do per day aspect. On one hand it kinda takes away from it. Similar games such as ACNH while they do somewhat have a “limited things to do per day” there is no cap to it, the player decided when they want to stop playing. On the other hand it would be great if say you’re playing thru another game and just want a break from it for a while, you could just hop onto here for 30ish minutes. The art style is cute still so might check it out
Thanks for posting this. In my view, it's a nice little game but finding resources is a bit fiddly with the graphics (i.e they aren't easy to find). Personally I find the gameplay a bit too short with the typical idea being that you play an hour a day. Yes you can spend extra time decorating and things but it's not really a game you can put hours into. Now Deiland is out on Switch, I'm actually dumped this game for Deiland instead.
Here’s our review of Cozy Grove I was really keen to get some decent time on this one - what are your thoughts on it - oh and the spelling error on Cozy/Cosy was TOTALLY intentional on the video (runs away and hides in shame ha!) Cheers guys, Mark.

As someone who has played it for a few days, I really like this game. It seems a little repetitive but I think that the system of limiting the amount of time you can spend on the game per day really helps prevent the gameplay from getting stale. Performance isn't amazing but it's decent. I think a few more updates would really make this game great.
I agree it has a charm of its own which is tough to get these days with games. Mark
Do I need another game to add on my backlogs? Let's find out!
Absolutely love this game. It's relaxed pace, limited daily play and great music is a great way to finish the day.
You guys always put out top-quality reviews. I appreciate that you try to stay unbiased and objective in these videos.
Cheers mate - always! Mark
I've been hesitating on Cozy Grove for a little now, and at least now I know that it probably isn't for me. 😕 Thanks guys!
Cheers Stephen - that’s exactly the purpose of these - give you the info you need. Cheers for watching. Mark

Dicey dungeons gaped my attention and I played it for hours😁
@@denycast Awesome value there, simple to learn difficult to master type of game. The amount of different play styles is amazing.

As a person who have a very busy schedule, this game is perfect for me. Cute and Slow pace
Unfortunately I don't like having to go into games every day as it starts feeling like a chore, so this will be a pass for me.
dont let that make u pass up this game you can time travel and keep playing thats what I've been doing
honestly your losing out
I have a feeling I'm going to play this for the simple fact alone that I need my own personal calcifer in my life
is just relaxing and so good, and the art style just beautiful
Looks gorgeous- I hope they keep patching the performance, but at the early release discount I’m willing to dive in now
I think I'll wishlist this one and see if a deeper discount comes down the line. Looks interesting, but not something I need right now.
Been debating whether to get this or not. I'll watch the review to help me decide. Thanks! ☺️
Enjoy! Mark
Think I'll pick this one up! Thanks Switch Up!
Just bought this off the eshop. Can’t wait to get in and Check it out
Love the review! BTW your voice sounds like the one from the SATORI Channel, just my two cents..
I really enjoy this game, but the on screen UI fading in and out EVERY time I move is really distracting me.
Great review. The art style is lovely but I don’t like the idea of being limited on what you can do in a day. I haven’t even time travelled in Animal Crossing. 😂 Cheers!
thanks for the review, gonna wait to buy it until they fix the pop-ins
I love your videos mate, keep up the great work!
Thanks Patrick - we appreciate it! Mark
Tried it on Apple Arcade and couldn’t get into it. Thanks for the video to see if it got any better.
Thank you for this review. It made me feel right before buying.
Best switch reviews mate!
Just gonna put this one on my wishlist and wait for a sale, I'm not really into real time gaming but it looks and feels like don't starve and love that game on mobile and ps4.
You don't have to throw stuff you want to place. X will drop it and you can adjust it there.
Limiting progression is an absolute no go for me. I have learned from many games that you don't mess with your device's clock as you can corrupt other games/files all at once
are there any other "cozy" games like this im looking for a game like this and moonlighter if that makes sense. any recommendations?
I’m. So excited about this one!!
I bought it on release date and I quite like it. Having a stressfull day job this game is a great break.
What i dislike though is that you have wait to gather some materials.
And the waiting would not be the worst part, but so there is a part on my island that isn't coloured for days😒
Farm and harvest kind of games are not my style, but the art of this one is really beautifull
Apparently this is getting a physical copy.
I want to want this game, but I just can’t get back into a real time game again.
@@JetpacksWasYes2 I’ve already got over 40 hours in it lol. It’s my GOTY as far as switch releases.
@@JetpacksWasYes2 yeah, that one looks awesome once I get burned out on round 3 of stardew valley
Welp back to cowering around a fire and whacking scary shadow hands for me!
your honestly losing out
Oh damn I wasn't interested in this until I saw the review. I love delayed gratification "come back tomorrow" type games 😅
I think I might pick this up.
Ugh I don't have time for this but yet I can't resist.
Not a big deal, but at the end of the video where you say "i give value 16/20" the number shown on screen is actually 15. 😁
Nice review! I'm new to this Nintendo Switch can you recommend jrpg, open world games that is free?
I subscribed by the way
AYE EARLY! I WAS WAITIN ON THIS
I pre-purchased the game and have not been disappointed.
I thought it's like "Don't Starve", but it looks like much easier. Just the fetch quests seem a bit boring.
Definitely boring.
This looks delightful!
Sometimes when you click on things it sounds like a toddler coughing.
😂 how bizarre
damn you did such a good review on this game today came across seeing it
and your video still has me stuck
should I or should I not 😭😭😭😭😭 it’s the graphics and things I love
but my responsibility level to daily
play the game within those amount of hours idk
I played for about 10 hours on PC and you are right about the game lacking variety. The music and visuals are the best part. This game is sort of a knock-off Animal Crossing but doesn't do anything better. It is fun if you like that game, but I don't think Cozy Grove is that great. It is worth buying for the price though.
There is sale on Eshop Argentina i bought for 50 cents 😬
was thinking about picking this up, but after watching your review i’m definitely gonna hold off, if i get that itch i’ll just sink some more hours into animal crossing. doesn’t really look like there’s a lot of content here, and the “ghosts” look mostly like bears. might pick it up later on but for now, it’s a pass. in the us eshop, it’s $13.46, so around $15 with tax, and that’s on sale. if it were $10 i might pick it up but for now, it’s a pass. thanks for the review! beautiful job.
ALSO! turns out it’s also on apple arcade, which is becoming a more and more attractive deal at $5 a month for a catalog of 100+ games. so i guess i’ll check it out on ios :)
Im super late to this but this seems like a game ill love plus its on sale with the dlc for $12 usd
The art is phenomenal except that the character eyes bug me for some reason. Seems like a great little enjoyable chore game though.
Great coverage as always!
Sounds like the soundtrack is based on proteus
Looks nice, but this pop-in... I think I'll wait few months and see if is better then before buying.
Is it Flamey or Calcifer from Howl’s Moving Castle? Couldn’t tell a difference myself.
😂
Will prolly check it out these types of games intrigue me
Hmm. Different. Idk if I'll jump in, but cool to see games like this exist and are trying new ideas
This is not for me but I’m sure some will enjoy it. Thanks for the vid guys
Literally the moment I saw the game I also thought it's a mix between don't starve and animal crossing 😅
The art style is cute still so might check it out
Funny how the character just runs backwards most of the time.
