For my current decon process, I am in the same order except for two steps I think could help you be more efficient during prep for polish. During the iron removal step, spray the IR and clay with that at the same time. Optimum Ferrex and a Clay mitt work very well and can cut that Rinse after IR out. Second step I would recommend would be to dry with the Paint Prep as a drying aid. It can cut out that second set of steps used if you did “Dry-Paint Prep-Dry” down to Dry w/ Paint Prep-Blow crevices and catch drips. But otherwise you guys are very efficient with two people and the current process! Great video.
Good video. Thanks for sharing. I stopped using iron remover and i clay the vehicle with the lubrication from the foam soap. I also only use 1 all purpose cleaner to clean the wheels, tires, door jambs and any stubborn stains on the paint. I use 70% alcohol after i polish not before. I get great results using this method. Sometimes when I wash my truck I completely forget about time. It’s almost as if time is irrelevant and washing, drying and detailing my truck is therapy. Then I get ready to go home and I have 10 missed calls from the wife 😂.
The biggest efficiency I’ve added over time is using a rinseless wash. I rinse, wash with ONR, spray on Optimum Ferrex, and clay with my clay towel. It eliminates so much time spent on rinsing. I also use the Detailer’s Helper Belt so I’m not walking back and forth to get chemicals, brushes, towels, etc.
I guess ive gotta try the clay towel, if im being honest i dont see how this guy does it this fast, any time im claying a car its because its got heavy heavy contamination and the way he goes 1 2 swipes with a clay towel definitely would not work on the cars im doing, i dont even see how it worked on this car. Maybe im over detailed, but either that clay towel is better than clay, or this guy is half assing it
Idk if two people would equal exactly double but definitely would be 1.5-1.75x depending on how efficient one person can be. Either way if you can get the process down to 1.5-2 hours for a wash and prep on a midsize suv that’s pretty good. Add another 30-45 minutes to add a sealant using the cordless buffer and you are in it 2-3 hours for a wash and wax. Charging $240 for a wash/wax can get you $120-80/hr as an individual. Then upsell the interior clean and you are having a very good day
Presoak all 4 Wheels - Wheels ( Sonax Wheel cleaner Plus ) ( Barrel, Spokes, face, Lugnuts/ Top to bottom n then chase it with a MFT towel - Foam the tire, let it dwell and agitate ( Foaming other tires as it dwell ) Foam again and agitate to see if any browning If so repeat until it’s white While it dwells on the second part I am using a spray lubricant to clean the edges of the fender liner - Degreaser on the door Jam & Rinse - Degreaser on the hood/trunk jam & Rinse - Foam The Car - Go around with my detail brush - Two bucket wash method but I will try that towel trick. I’m just going to use a higher gsm towel. - Rinse - Towel Dry - Blow Dry - Chemical decon - Mechanical Decon - Rinse - Towel Dry - Blow Dry - Apply Tire dressing ( gives enough time to dry and apply a second coat for a longer shine ) - IPA wipe down - Sonax ExCut 05-05 for my one step - Inspect the car with Sonax Brilliant Shine Detailer - Remove excess Tire dressing and apply a second coat
i'd say ipa wipedown isn't necessary since you're polishing. That already removes most contaminants especially since you used a claybar and APC/degreaser to strip most waxes at start of the wash. IPA only needed if going to coat paint after compound/polish/wax/seal. Nice process though :)

A IPA wipe down is a prep process and yes, it’s essential before polishing and coating. Essential for polishing because if there is any oil left, you will create hologram due to a machine spinning with cutting product and oil still present on the panel. This will also make the first step process of correction inefficient. IPA wipe down are essential anytime before correction and installing any type of protection that included wax, sealant and ceramic coating.

they are clay mitts get clogged very fast and in the video they barely clean them so they're making more marks and still leaving some contaminants on the paint
I noticed browning on tires, should you wash until browning is gone? Did you wash engine and trunk areas? I'm guessing the APC was your strip washing stage? Mobile detailing is about about speed , not quality, in my opinion. As a non professional, I like to take time and do the job right the first time. In order for the products to last, preparation is key.
If the main focus is getting the car polished and sealed, then I wouldn’t focus much time getting the tires 100%. This is where you set an expectation with the customer before hand in regards to what the goal is and how much time you can spend on the vehicle within budget. You can’t quote $550 for 4 hours and spending 45 minutes on the wheels and tires. If they want the tires perfect then you’d need to charge extra for it.
When I spray my product onto the wheels (SuperClean), it doesn't foam like yours. Are you using a foam sprayer or is that a different product? In general, it seems like my SuperClean diluted 4:1 doesn't foam very much. Sorry for the basic question, I'm just getting started! Your videos have been beyond helpful to me, thank you!

Yes! I typically like to spray any type of lubricant over the area i’ll be claying though. That way, you won’t have to wash, dry, clay, and dry once again. You save time and effort.
Haha. Not new. Been an option for a few short years now. It is absolutely the safest and time efficient way to clay bar a vehicle given there is enough soapthat is infused with lubricants and or waxes not just a ph balanced soap

Efficiency. That one microfiber towel has 8 sides to it. That’s 4 trips saved walking back and forth to the buckets if you use the front and back of your typical mitt.

@@DetailGroove Think about it. Why transfer dirt from the windows to your wash mit and then immediately rub the painted panels? Wash the paint first then you can use the dirty mit to wash the windows. Windows don’t get swirl marks.
@@DetailGroove Because you are just causing more unnecessary damage to the paint. And if you do your wash process this way on this car then you do it the same way to other cars. This customer might as well take it to a car wash. It will be cheaper and the customer will get the same damage. If the customer is paying extra for a quality wash then you should wash it without trying to cause more and more swirl marks. If you’re going to show your wash process on You Tube for everyone to see, then you should wash it the correct way. And every professional detailer knows you do not wash windows first before washing paint with the same mit. Also you must rinse off the first snow foam layer after it dwells before starting a two bucket wash process. I didn’t see you using two buckets in this video. It looks like you used the same wash mit for the whole car without ever rinsing it. If you really wanted to be a quality detailer, then use one mit per panel. Probably go through 12 mits to wash a car.
I use rocks to wash the car and i dry the cars with 400 grit sandpaper. Afterwards. I throw the customers sht around and present them their car with a 7 year old smile on my face

Yes but with some cars, after claying, you pull off a whole other layer of dirt. Rinsing it off helps. To each their own👌🏽

We did an all-in-one step. So it refines the paint a bit and adds a layer of protection

@@DetailGroove Because you are just causing more unnecessary damage to the paint. And if you do your wash process this way on this car then you do it the same way to other cars. This customer might as well take it to a car wash. It will be cheaper and the customer will get the same damage. If the customer is paying extra for a quality wash then you should wash it without trying to cause more and more swirl marks. If you’re going to show your wash process on You Tube for everyone to see, then you should wash it the correct way. And every professional detailer knows you do not wash windows first before washing paint with the same mit. Also you must rinse off the first snow foam layer after it dwells before starting a two bucket wash process. I didn’t see you using two buckets in this video. It looks like you used the same wash mit for the whole car without ever rinsing it. If you really wanted to be a quality detailer, then use one mit per panel. Probably go through 12 mits to wash a car.

@@Kid617 that’s because iron deposits show most on white cars. You can still use it on coloured paint.

I use rocks to wash the car and i dry the cars with 400 grit sandpaper. Afterwards. I throw the customers sht around and present them their car with a 7 year old smile on my face
