Definitely the most efficient and safe way to wash/clay/wax your vehicle. I've used this method professionally for a few months on many vehicles without a single scratch. It's so easy, and so amazing! Thanks guys!
Is any polishing required? I don't have a machine polisher
Walter White is really taking this car wash business serious.

Mr Heisenberg 🤣
Not even close
I love these videos with Levi & Yvan, like a dynamic double act. Really helpful, great
Levi is the best. Other RUclipsrs in this industry obsess over their six-figure Porches and Beamers while Levi-who teaches them how it’s all done-is putting a junkyard hood on his pickup. Thanks for keeping it in the real world, Levi!
JR Harris so true, Levi is justifiably proud of his Elantra and truck. His resources go into his family, not showing off to the world. You can have as much fun in a Ford as a Ferrari, you can have as much pride in a Silverado as a Silver Cloud.
yvan lacroix - Profound and poetic!
@@logopneumatika Thanks JR!! Yeah, I'm a cheap date! But Yvan is spot on, I work for my family to make them comfortable.
Levi Gates - Just keep being you!
No trees around that junkyard hood (that the clay mitt didnt remove) that hood hadent been there long.
Love Optimum products and Mr. Lacroix presentations. Great stuff!
Will be doing this process tomorrow morning....can't wait!
If Ivan is in, im
Watching the vid.. great to see you Ivan🤙🏽
The clip around the 1:03 mark really shows how much weight Yvan has lost. Well done sir!
2of2DCH thank you, weight loss is a side effect of being healthy.
@@LacroixCruiser Congrats Yvan! Best from France ❤️
Wadester P. Coletrain No, it is only temporary...
Yvan Lacroix side effect of being ill as well
@@jezzie1965 Yvan does not look ill to me. Quite the opposite. Keep up the hard work, Yvan. The Battle of the Bulge is not easy. Congrats!
I started using ONR about a month ago to start practicing for when I have to shut off my hose. I figured if it didn't work out I could still go back and wash using traditional methods. I have been quite impressed with the ease of use and using the wax how it leaves a nice shine and slickness to the paint. Now does it get into all the nooks and spaces that a hose or power washer would? No. Does it add scratches to the finish? I think it isn't any more harmful than using a micro fiber wash mitt as long as you follow the proper technique. I use a light colored micro fiber towel so I can see how much dirt I'm picking up. Using a 16x16 inch towel I get 8 sides and if my car is dirty it takes 2 towels.
To summarize I think this is a very good product that has plenty of uses, but won't completely replace the traditional wash method. I like it and will use it throughout the winter months with confidence that I'm still keeping my car clean.
B Stewart ExecutiveCarCare The Big Red Sponge is actually much safer, look at for example Apex videos which shows how bad the microfibre ones release the dirt in comparison with BRS.
Now that was one dirty hood, glad Levi is still planning to do more magic. Speaking of magic, ONR is proving itself on my test car. Gotta trust the man, Yvan, who keeps washing cars 🚗 in a bow tie.
thomkirby thank you, and trust me the bow tie is much better for the eyes than a speedo...
yvan lacroix oh please then do keep the bow tie! You have lost lots of weight and should be proud of that accomplishment, no speedo please.
@@LacroixCruiser lol
What blend of microfiber is Yvan’s bow tie?
The master at work Yvan is the best!
Mr. ONR. "I like the stuff" 🤣
*🌅Brilliant🌞we appreciate your share🗺& Time showing us😇More ways of Becoming Better👍🏾*
Impressive demonstration, and product.
Love your stuff!! It's working great for me
Two of the nicest guys in detailing!
Great job on the weight loss Yvan!
It really is that easy!
Do you have to use the ONR or can you use the spray wax as a lubricant for the clay mitt?
I just picked up one of these clay towels. Im pretty excited to try it out, I just hope its not too fine to be able to clay my wifes daily and still benfit from it being faster.
Anthony Zupanek chemical guys has a nice medium grade clay mitt it’s perfect
Great video
That hood has to be the best I’ve ever seen in a junk yard.
Bro that’s so dope .. I’m excited to get the products and used these method
Thanks for an informative video. I like the amount of detail that you go into, it is however spoilt to a small extent by the background music that can at times be intrusive especially at the point where you demonstrate the credit card trick on the surface. I am now going to go and buy a clay mitt to use with my ONR (fantastic product) Keep the videos coming guys👍
More interior stuff plz
Love Yvan, he gave me the confidence to give ONR a try and it really has saved me all much time and money. Levi, (love you too) Does the rag company have approved distributors in the UK?
boof gaming Clean and Shiny
If I keep an regular clay mitt clean, could I still use it with ONR?
I would be very interested in how you can do a full process of ceramic coating. Can you use onr and wash-decontaminate then compound+polish followed by ceramic coating? Just with onr and your solutions without having to use a pressure washer
The Optimum website says, "Do not soak in liquid." when referring to the Ultra Clay Towel and Mitt. In this video they are clearly soaking in the ONR bucket. The website also says, " Do not squeeze or wring out." but Yvan squeezes it out over the bucket shortly after 2:20. Are the instructions correct?
Yvan did that because he wasn't actually using it on the car. He was just using it to show it to the audience....and he didn't want it just dripping all over the place....and it was a very light wring
Yes the instructions are correct they are just using them wrong, in the long run, the towel and mitt has less life
Can these product be use on ceramics coated cars? I hate to ruin shine and coating after spending all that money on my vette. I have been using car pro reload and echo h2o for protection of coating.
How many cars can be cleaned with one 5 gallon bucket of ONR and BRS before it has to be changed? ( the ONR) Thank you!
Does this clay towel need to be “prepped on glass” like other clay towels?
The new ultra clay rag is the only OPT product ive ever been disappointed with. I can work a panels for as long as i like and the clay doesnt seem to ever remove any contamination. Its not sticky at all, like other clay rags ive used before.
Whats a reasonable timeframe and price for a service like this and, say, an interior vacuum?
I normally do a quick wash to take the dirt off, follow up with a foam application with a clay mit, dry the car and then wax it. I’m mobile so to me that’s the quickest and best way to wash, clay, wax when you’re on the go.
Question could l just spray the wax on the towel/mitt or only just one spray on panel?
215DETAILING 215DETAILING it’s best to spray on the panels and spread from there.
Does washing car with ONR remove old detail spray sealants or spray waxes previously used on car?? Or any quick detailers for that matter??
M S no, Optimum No Rinse(ONR) removes dirt, not protection.
So are these discontinued? Still use mine, but cannot find them anywhere anymore when it comes time to replace it
Why are you using a terry towel instead of a microfiber towel to wipe and dry? Doesn't the terry towel leave scratches on the surface?
Watching this guy remove dirt is tough. At this rate he'll be done next month detailing a half a hood
I’ve yet to find a clay towel, mitt, sponge that doesn’t marr paint!
Do you have a kit that includes the essentials for a newbie?
@Yvan Lacroix, i was wondering, there a specific way to clean the clay mitt? i will be using it on occasion and not in a shop environment. Do we just rinse the mittbwith water after the car is done, wring it out and let air dry? thank you!
Mike Spina Let it soak in a bucket of ONR diluted at the standard dilution of 256:1. Refresh the ONR every few months if you wash your car every few weeks.
No paint correction(compound/polish) on a junkyard hood?
Has something happened to the Optimum Clay Mitt and Clay Towel? They seem to have disappeared from the Optimum and Rag Company websites.
For a typical exterior detail does this method replace the need for a power buffer?
Bernie Haraldson no
At 0:21 he has that look of" "Put some respek on my name."
Ivan is immortal
blaspHEMI 11 far from it, I’m just old.
I use the double twister with P& S Bead Maker as a drying agent
Try do this in Malaysia with our nasty weather you will get tons of watermark and our UV ray is crazy the clear coat will be damage very badly and good luck doing it without polish
Question, when, in this process would you apply iron remover?
Use the iron remover as your clay lubricant instead of the car wax. Rinse off the iron remover then clean the surface with ONR again then wax and/or seal as desired.
Is it possible to use the Optimum Spray Wax after washing with Optimum no Rinse Wash and Wax? Someone tested it?
Is the ultra clay mitt no longer made?
Levi, I’ve been on the fence about the clay mitt... the more I see it used the more I think I need to get out of my old ways/ old school thinking. Does this completely replace using clay bars?
This is like a more soft claybar so you will need clay on some bad cases
Aaron Corley yes the clay mitt replaces a clay bar. Much faster and more efficient. I have a medium and a fine grade clay mitt from chemical guys that works great. I use ONR as my lubricant after I wash and decontaminate the car. So easy. Then I just run the clay mitt on a grit guard at the bottom of a bucket of clean water and wring out then start the next section
@@briandraper7630 I tried them, I perfer my clay
This is for Mr. Gates or Mr. Lacroix. I have seen this process done many times and it sounds great. BUT, in the event there is road film on the panel (Very likely because driving through the rain happens often) what is the proper process? The car wax would just mix with the slurry of road film on the panel. What I personally do is spray a degreaser on the panel before using the ONR. Would you use power clean?
302QuestSwap “Road Film” for the most part is an urban legend invented to sell you more products. Unless you only wash your vehicle once per year you have nothing to fear. TRC can link to a car Levi and I washed with Optimum No Rinse(ONR) that had not been washed in over a year. With that said if you wish to prewash with Optimum Power Clean please feel free to do so.
302QuestSwap here is the link
ruclips.net/video/Eq59Uer17tg/видео.html
I respect your opinion and stance on numerous things. Road film is something that always made sense to me because all of the oils and fluids on the road get sprayed on your vehicle and typically aren’t water soluble which is why I didn’t think ONR (or even soap and water) would remove it from the surface.
Simply try a section of the vehicle with Optimum No Rinse(ONR), if you feel it isn’t clean enough then by all means get out your IK foamer and have some fun with Optimum Power Clean at 5/1. That said you will be surprised what Optimum No Rinse(ONR) can and will dissolve. The best area you can use to test is your windows, it’s very easy to see if there are any film after cleaning.
Yvan Lacroix hmmm FIRST time hearing this.
Could I do a wash clay wax and finish with bead maker? Or do I need something else between wax and bead maker? Thanks!
good question
ketonement if you feel the need yes
If only stores near me carried this products. I would be buying them. But nobody seems to carry here in phoenix arizona.
jose quiroz Amazon
How often should you do this on a Gloss Coated vehicle?
Stephen Bissett once a year
Where are the links to purchase the clay towel
HI ! My question is : microfiber towel leaves scratches ? 😢
Bad quality and/or improperly-used ones certainly can 👍
HI
The best ever is to use Bilt Hamber clay fr the UK they have their own clay mine! avail in S, M, H grades it is so pure they say and it is TRUE! you can use just plain water for lube ! ! try it let me know what you think? and update your video with w/an addendum ? thx Jack
How do you clean the contamination that's left behind in the clay towel?
Nooby Vapor Rinse it in the ONR bucket
Your link for the ultra ultra clay mitt leads to the ultra clay bar
Levi so one spray of that wax for the whole panel
When would you use ONR wash and wax?
anw0625 When you are in a hurry or lazy. :)
Actual cleaning starts at 7:15
Is this better than the clay?
ainda nao consigo entender como passar uma esponja em cima de um carro sujo vai limpar e nao arranhar o carro.....queria muito experimentar mas tenho medo dos riscos na pintura...
What camera was used at 1:14?
I know they say a clay towel is better. You notice the surface was not completely cleaned? The dirt and Contaminates we're not completely removed completely? That is because it takes a lot of scrubing on the surface with a clay towel. A clay bar is a lot faster and better for the paint. I use a clay bar if I want to to do things right.
Will this clay cloth/mit swirl and mar up my paint?
Not if it’s used properly
Do you have to break in mitt on Window as well?
Yes
background music is not necessary
@@theragcompany And now will buy clay towel instead of clay bar in the future. ;)
I use a leaf blower to dry my car few towels for touch up
It would be neat to see a GoPro on the bottom of the bucket to show how the dirt is settling
So I don’t need a polisher if I’m planning on clay barring my car?
Not if you use the right products properly
All that is needed to keep clay towel clean, dip it in the bucket after each panel. Boom, done lol.
Can I use Optimum Car Wax as a drying aid weekly or should I use Optimum Quick Detailer as a maintenance wash drying aid. I already have wax on my car and like the water beading performance of my wax. However it’s nice to add a bit of pop when you’re doing your weekly wash. What do you think?
Just standard ONR dilution? Not clay bar dilution?
Standard is fine

What ONR bucket mean?
@@theragcompany Thank you!
What's the O&R they mentioned?
It’s ONR which is an abbreviation for Optimum No Rinse
Ok good podac. Ea my job car polishing. Bahrain.
You were using circle movement, I didn't think you should do that?
Craig Heywood you can use the shape you wish, lines, circles, tri-angles, octagons, your choice
12:53 why you didn't flip the card!!!!!!
Can you wipe down with ONR before applying a coating?
Qwik SS yes, but once the panel is dried after cleaning with ONR use paint prep to ensure a clean, residue free surface.
Qwik SS yes, but preferably you will also use Optimum Paint Prep
I think Maguiar's products do the same. Less $$$ too!
You can tell the hood it's been wax and shine before he uses the red sponge.
i'll wear my working uniform plus apron sometimes dust mask added no suits or bow ties.
Question. I usually just use ONR as a pre soak but I've seen you guys mention and use Power Clean as a pre soak. My question is if I pre soak with Power clean can I go straight to using ONR? Or does Power Clean need to be rinsed off with a hose? Also will Power clean strip sealant/waxes? Thanks
B Fielder go straight to onr they are compatible with each other
Optimum Power Clean will weaken, and or strip most waxes and sealants. It’s best to rinse off the Optimum Power Clean before using Optimum No Rinse(ONR) to wash.
A Optimum Power Clean pre-soak is not required before every wash, only if you’re planning on polishing the vehicle, or if you’re doing a chemical decontamination.
@@LacroixCruiser Ok thanks. Do you guys carry a product that I can use to pre soak a panel (not just ONR) that doesn't need to be rinsed off? Something that I can pre soak with for 10 seconds or so and then immediately go to my ONR wash. In the winter time I don't really have access to a hose or pressure washer.
B Fielder , yes, Opti-Clean.
@@LacroixCruiser Hmm idk. I don't really feel like Opti Clean would be worth paying for if just using it as a pre soak. Why use Opti Clean when I can just use ONR? Isn't Opti Clean basically just a waterless wash?
To each their own but I’m not a fan I want to see foam and suds and I want to see the gunk on my clay bar
And what is O&R???
It’s ONR it stands for Optimum No Rinse
3:05, well why haven't you made it white then, to see dirt better?
ABoyNamedAsTy unfortunately this is as light a colour as possible.
His 1 x spray really means 2 x sprays or am I seeing things!
You're seeing things 👀
Bright Yellow, white, bright green, any bright color, not dark blue if you want customer to see dirt. But I hear the pitch.
I don't think it's meant to show customers, but instead to help you see the buildup as you're working. It's a much better product overall when used as directed.
“Mr ONR” didn’t age well 😆
