By not sending them email about banning them is plain wrong. I do believe that you need to come up with way to prevent fraudulent credit cards from making purchases in the first place. A lot of other MMORPG sites have things in place to prevent stuff like this from happening.
Yes I'm posting this again. I did post this on twitter. This makes my blood boiler. This could be prevented from happening in the first place.
When on average your game servers have maybe 100 people tops. Banning players might not be a good idea
to be fair they have like 20 different servers each with at least 100 people so, it’s not really a dead game tbh
@@Innxcently Each realm, I read somewhere, is 1000 people to fill to maximum, there's never been an exact figure from KI if I recall correctly, but my estimate is 1000 - 1500. Meaning that on peak days / hours wiz can have up to 5 thousand players at once (3 full realms which I normally see on weekends). If you include the other realms, could be close to 7 - 8k at any one time during peak hours. Wiz isn't dead I feel like it's been growing lately too.

At this point, they need to improve everything if they want the game to flourish. Banning their already dwindling playerbase is a dreadful move.
I think the person who used the credit card that is fraud should be the one banned not the person who accepted the gift cause they didn’t know. if wizards take the gift away wizards should send them a email and tell the person why they took the gift away not just banned them cause they just accepted it

@Joseph cuz some people are gifting so many stuff from the crown shop to random players then they charged back to KI to get the money back and then for those innocent players who receive the gifts are punished KI automatically ban them sadly but idk why are banning those that are offline for years... make no sense.. 🤦🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️

Now that’s where it doesn’t make sense. unless multiple people did chargebacks at the same or wiz is barely breaking down on accounts who received fraudulent gifts, cause 2 weeks ago I got 2 mounts from a low level in the commons and I’m assuming that person did a chargeback
yeah the gift box really needs to be revamped / modernized because i dont play a lot recently but i claim things like holiday codes and i have bundle gear in there since im not max level on any of my wizards and i dont want to claim the gear unless i wanna stitch it or actually use it
They should make gifting and in-game feature so that you can only gift after owning the crowns for 7+ days

The reason these accounts got banned is because someone can make a alternate account on wizard101, use a fake, fraudulent or stolen credit card to purchase crowns on that account, then gift their main account thousands of crowns worth of items. KI needed to make sure these accounts didn't belong to the fraudster.
The easiest ways to deal with this would be:
> Setting a maximum amount of gifting per day (such as 5k crowns), and once they hit that they can't gift anymore items.
> Once a credit card is added to an account, and crowns are brought, that account can not gift anyone for 2 - 3 months after the first purchase of crowns (then after that 3 months you can gift as much as you like). This means, if the card is stolen, the owners of the card can charge back and KI will be alerted and the only account banned would be the one in question.
> They could also ask for ID to verify the Card holder with the account holder, however this is a bit inefficient.

DUDE no joke about a decade ago I had spent $100 of my mother's card. At the time I had bought myself a bunch of stuff on my own account. When my brother found out, he threatened to tell on me unless I shared crowns - opening some packs for him blabla - so I did, and he got a lot of good crowns stiches, spells, mounts, pets, etc. Fast forward a couple of days and my ma finds out, asks who spent it and no one knows, and I tried to log and realized my account was banned under fraudulent purchase (or suspended, I can't really remember). FAST FORWARD today and my brother's account still works with all the crowns items. Never got reprimanded.
He jokes sometimes that I should've dumped more on him and that "I should've listened more" lol. I should have.

Damn so I got gifted a gift on a game that I haven’t played in years and banned for it. That’s unfortunate
1. Suspend the receiving players gifting for 1 month
2. Give a warning message that they were gifted fraudulent items; report suspicious gifting; etc.
3. After 3 strikes of receiving fraudulent items, receiver is banned
4. 2 strikes for any fraud gifting totalling over $30
5. Strikes reset yearly
And the sender is banned. Obviously. It's not totally foolproof but it definitely makes credit fraud way harder to exploit.
Why punish the receiving player and not track the gifters? That would punish streamers heavily cause they get gifted so much they could never know who it was.
@@beaniebaby7725 because this can easily be abused. If you're getting tons of gifts, just don't accept them for a week. Taking the "play dumb" approach is just going to get us back to more bans.

They should of told us what was going on cause at first thought I got hacked then to not know for 20 hours sucked
I got banned from my account along time ago when I was young for using too many visa gift cards I owned on those bundles and stuff and didn't pay them 40$ just to get it unbanned
I've always given gifts to new players and my friends on their Birthday.
How about do nothing unless you prove they did something. Does that not make sense especially in a game without trade. Like really how dumb of a response.
Wizard101 doesn’t know what they doing now, I been playing for years and they muted me for 10 years and I wasted money money on them you think I can play like that

This sounds like it's because you could gift something to your INNOCENT MAIN account via an alt account, and charge back the card. The process goes like this.
"buy" a card or item you want to have on your main wizard.
Gift that card/item to your main wizard
Charge back the purchase.
Suddenly, your new alt gets banned for charging back, but your main wizard is scot-free
This ban wave banned those 'scot-free' wizards, plus innocent ones that got caught in the cross-fire.

Because they have no way of knowing if the person who received the gift was co-operating with the person who gifted them then did a chargeback or used a fraudulent credit card. I still don't think they should be banned; I think the items/crowns should just be deleted from their account.
@@Zuexis1 I agree, but KI are saying they can't because some items are one time use. IMO that just brings up another issue - if the value of items that have been used up and have NOTHING to show for it is so high KI can't accept it, then there is something wrong with how much wizards can spend without anything to show for it. If there is nothing to show for the money it shouldn't be such a big deal KI's solution is banning everyone. I highly doubt a scammer would commit a serious crime to gift themselves items to use up super fast and have nothing to show for it. They might not even gift themselves at all if their motive is to destroy the game/reputation of KI...

Noo cancelling IPS could end up banning families that play together. I play with my sister, each have a different account, just ban those cards from the payment options
I think they should just ip ban whoever does this thing and return everything that didn't already get redeemed. If a person redeemed it just take the L and move on

yup i got banned and they wont unban me since i dont have the og email, account from 2009 ive spent about 600 plus on the account pretty sad
@Setsuna I’m trying to submit another ticket maybe it was just the person I got being too strict, two other friends, that also got banned were Unbanned after emailing and they only gave out the username. It’s a pretty difficult situation, originally the account was a friends from elementary school that he gave to me, then it was added to a parent account with all of those controls so it’s pretty hard, because none of those emails are active or really known anymore. I tried to explain it to them in the past, but without having someone to really talk to you, there’s no way for them to understand I just get the most generic uncaring response saying they can’t. I just buy prepaid cards for bundles and memberships.
@@johnsilver228 dont tell them that you originally got the account from someone else, because then they truly won't unban you under the "account sharing" reason. it sucks but thats how they'll treat it

@@TheFemSniper It’s annoying I’ve played so many mmos I came back to this just because of the nostalgia and their team is just so out of touch with the player base. It’s something to expect from a foreign company but they’re legit based in Texas..
Maybe they should make some sort of gifting area in wizard city and it would have the 2 people go and the one would gift and the other would receive but it should be logged in some sort of system so it can be tracked. 🤦♂️

I just want yall to know something else. Through an old interaction ive had where i was banned. They outright told me they cannot recover banned account.(clearly lied, seeing as accounts were unbanned)
