I don't think it was too bad. They weren't perema banned, just temp banned. The lack of communication was rather annoying, but maybe there was a reason they had to do it (possibly a legal reason even)
@@Maker0824 nope all comes down to internal policies. Policies like these do show that KI views you as a customer as less valuable then a possible pack being opened from a fraudster that they could catch regardless.
Well... It's definitely bad view. The bad comes from the fact that I wasn't surprised by any part of these events _(the event itself and the ending)_ . Though, it will bring more attention to the issue, and I trust, weirdly, but I trust the devs and the KI team to fix it. They have made the only MMO game I've ever liked, one piece I still play after 12 years, and after all that time, they somewhat started listening to the community and considering making the game free. I can see the best for later, may it take time, but I have all the time in the World.
Why do they have a open gift option if you can be banned for receiving a gift from random people? They have been in business long enough to find a different way to handle this. So unprofessional.
Communication with players regarding problematic matters has been a problem for a very long time, almost since the release of the game. I find it atrocious that this is still happening. I have spent far too much money on this game to be worried about losing my account. I hope some of the more recent problems can help them see that they need to fix the communication issue.
Exactly! The communication issue definitely isn't new and while they have taken a few steps to be more transparent recently, this situation shows they still need to make some changes. At MINIMUM they should have emailed the affected individuals immediately following the ban to tell them what was going on.
I don't know if there are currently ways to temporary ban an account. But I feel that a 72-hour ban would be effective enough when it comes to giving them time for investigation, without causing community-wide panic. Also, just another reason to add 2FA to Wiz.
Definitely. People have been begging for 2FA for so long and it’s a staple in all other modern multiplayer games. I don’t understand why KI won’t invest in it 🙄
I can't say this surprises. I'm not talking about the issue itself, more about the scenario, the fact that we see a problem, lack of communication, and "fix" later on.
Not banning those players cost KI nothing. It doesn't take banning people to figure out who did the charge back. It also costs KI nothing if some of the items are used. Well not nothing but effectively a fraction of a penny. It's a wishlist item after all effectively means the player wasn't going to buy it or wanted a lot of it. More then they were willing to pay at minimum. They can't even pull the trying to avoid the items being distributed nonsense because this game doesn't have trade. Those items can't be funneled anywhere.
Wow they really need to be careful with this. For any ogs who remember the infinite reagent glitch back in azteca, there was some plant that you could collect infinitely and get infinite gold. Long story short is that probably hundreds of people got permanently banned over a glitch that Kingsisle had caused. The main thing was that we had never seen a ban wave like this before. Sure, they were exploiting, but it's extremely harsh considering the circumstances. I remember back then people were really worried about the state of the game and things were looking really grim for a while.
I was banned for being INACTIVE. These bans happen a lot more than others think, I’m going to make a vid about it soon but it’s honestly insane.. even for big names like Goomay they took over a week to do anything. So imagine support for those who have no platform
@@Darth-_-Maul I did but I deleted it. Because I realized I’m 19 and I didn’t wanna cry over a dying game. I don’t even want a negative video about them because I infact want everyone to forget about them
Oh this reminds me of a glitch that happened way back somewhere between 2008-2009. There was apparently a glitch in the crown shop, and the glitch would consist of simply clicking between the gold and crown currency. When you clicked on a mount, it would be in the gold currency, but at the same cost as the crowns. So, to break this down, think of a mount being like.. what, 5k crowns, and in gold it was 600k. This glitch caused mounts to cost 5k gold instead of crowns, and people went wild with it. I don't know how many accounts got banned, but I know a lot of my friends got banned for it. I, however, didn't lose my account, only the mount that I bought.
They just shouldn't ban the gift recipients unless they can prove it is someone's alt that did the chargeback, as well giving warnings before just banning people.
Right? You would think they could trace the IP of where the purchase went and make the malicious gifter pay for it. Why don't they just lock down the items on the gifted person's account so they can't do anything but delete the items or something if they're worried about them using them instead of banning them out of nowhere? O_O
A question I have is if there is really no way for KI to track who has gifted something to another wizard, whether or not it’s a wishlist item. Even if a fraudulent credit card was used, it had to be tied to a wizard’s account, right? So I still don’t understand them banning *all* of the recipients. If I buy something from the crown shop, there’s a record of it. So does someone have a KI/wiz account with a fraudulent credit card associated with it, which they used to buy crown shop items to gift to unsuspecting players, then doing charge backs, but KI cannot tell who was doing the fraudulent purchases and gifting? Sounds like nonsense. Regardless, KI really ought to have communicated better to all the affected players, like you explained.
I'm not saying KI went about this the right way. But the reason they banned recipients of the gifts is: -Fraudulent card is used to by crowns for Wizard A. -Wizard A gifts multiple items to Wizards B & C -Wizard A gets banned for the fraudulent purchase Wizards B & C still have the stolen items. And more likely than not, the owners of A, B, C know each other or thay are alt accounts for the same person.
KI is awful at dealing with issues, on top of creating certain issues that shouldn’t have happened in the first place. I love the game, but KI really makes it hard to keep my love for the game sometimes. There shouldn’t be a fear of someone doing something that you have no control over and you getting banned with ZERO explanation
It totally makes sense to mass ban everyone involved if you can’t locate the culprit. It’s their fault that they surrounded themselves with people capable of committing fraud of this extent. It’s KingsIsle’s fault that they left everyone in the dark for so long.
The problem with the wishlist was not something new tbh. It was there ever since it was introduced and KI refuses to do anything about it except victim blame
KI has been known for being similar to EA when it comes to communications. It's so unprofessional on how they tried to communicate this -- they should of just removed the gifted item and banned the people who used the fraudulent cards to buy crowns.
My main account got banned a couple of moths ago because of some "third party" website. I managed to get it back but when i got it back ONLY my death was on there. With a completely different stitch and all of my mounts gone.
Ive defended this game so much. Ive even been banned - granted i broke terms of service, but it was still utter bullshit. Still took it on the chin - i love wizard101. I dont understand why banning is even a function in games dude. If someones racist/griefing/sexist. Implement an ignore feature (which exists) and leave it be. Unless they're running a highly ilegal TC ring/gltich something. No bans in any game - its that simple I will always return to the game. Always love it, but i finally am breaking away from it like a bad heroin addiction Also what absolute cunts. When i got my account ban they assured me it was 110% irreversible. Man i better not meet a KI employee or sum bads gonna happen
Wizard101 has been going downhill for years, worst customer service and moderation system i’ve ever seen 😂 I can’t understand how people still play this
Wolf StormBlade: DO you know who i am!? My Father is KI and I Have the Power to BAN you! *Purchase $10 crowns on his account. Proceeds to gift your wishlist. NOT on my watch! *Grabs BanHammer * *PERMA IP BAN Wolf * *24 hrs ip ban for Innocent Player who got gifted* KI: My Job is done!
Omg thanks so much zaepha I thought I lost my acc for good. I got gifted the warlock hair, then I thought my game crashed then it said you have been banned.
True! So you also really need to be careful of who your friends are. I think the wishlist being public obviously puts you most at risk though just cuz then literally anyone with bad intentions can mess with you. But you’re not totally safe either way which is scary.
I had it worst on pirate after I beat the game and max out everything I took a break from pirate that was in 2018 then in 2020 I got back on to see new updates and my pirates where gone I wrote kingsisle on facebook and no respond back this time I became a crown player and if it happen again I'm done with pirate.
What are your thoughts on this issue? Should KI have acted differently? Should they remove the wishlist feature? Let me know in the comments!

should go the SWTOR route and offer a small amount of crowns every month for having 2FA attached to your account
I go to sleep and work one shift, and wizard101 broke, riots happened, mass fraud occurred, and then it was all reversed.
Wtf.
Typical day for wiz 😂
I think the real question is why is this a thing that can happen? Why can you be punished for something totally out of your control?

Why don’t they just make a gifting log
