If you like that you should check out the piece that Ludwig wrote for the heist episode from Mandalorian season 1. The way he stretches time to create tension is really subtle and very cool
You should definitely check out the band Mammal Hands. They are super good at making odd time signatures feel super smooth. Id recommend their songs Quiet Fire, Kandaiki and Versus Shapes, those are some of my favourites. But honestly, all of their songs are superb.
Ahhh man... This channel is great. Really, I haven't experienced this content genre (rhythm oriented breakdown) and content quality since I joined RUclips 13 years ago... (Where were you?! :D) All that epic music references. Keep up the good work man! BTW I've been a fan of Distorted Harmony before I've discovered this channel and you literally have to do a BREAKDOWN OF NATURAL SELECTION!!1!!1 I would be interested in the process of making/composing/learning such great and complex songs straight from the author.
Shit, I spent two days wondering why there was a video about Black Panther and Tenet in my recommended videos, eventually to see it was from you. The Tenet soundrack seems amazing! You've done some Hip Hop already on the channel. In case you want to come back to Hip Hop with some odd time signatures or "odd feel" I definitely recommend you to check beats made by El-P, he has done some in 7/4, other songs sound very "weird" (Raspberry Fields by Cannibal Ox, or Deep Space 9mm) probably something you'd find interesting ;) Keep up the amazing work man!
TFW you gotta instantly leave a video because it reminded you you haven't listened to a Textures song for eight years. EDIT: And I'm back. Millstone would make a great topic to cover in a video. So many juicy weird grooves in that song.
I expect meshuggah using talking drums in their next album. That would be killer. Also, “Wakada” kinda reminds me of the ending half of the theme to ghost in the shell (1995) where there’s a drum solo with African percussion (there is some of that in the background of the full song too, it’s just buried by the Taiko and Choir).
Maybe he's been listening to meshuggah too much 😂😂😂😂😂!!!! INTENSE VIDEO Though!!!! Gonna watch these movies again with a different kind of attention now Thanks Yogev 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
If you’re looking for other non-metal pieces with great rhythms, I’d love to see some Manu Delago analyzed at some point. I’ve spent months trying to understand what happen in my head when I’m listening to this 😅 Many rhythms puzzles, but the first 2 that comes to my mind are Zeitgeber and Chimp Rave (Wandering Around would be next, such an awesome piece too) Zeitgeber: ruclips.net/video/bdpyfD0r43Y/видео.html Chimp Rave: ruclips.net/video/8cHJ8QMduuk/видео.html Wandering Around: ruclips.net/video/dz4BFphfZhw/видео.html A Yogev’s eye on this to make these complex things as easy to understand as they are enjoyable would be a Godsend.
My brain never thought about non-band music for suggestions! "Dancing Mad" composed by Nabuo Uematsu from Final Fantasy 6. Though, I can tell you that if you do Dancing Mad, you'll get flooded by requests to do One Winged Angel from Final Fantasy 7 right after
@YogevGabay Check out the main theme/title song for Dario Argento's "Tenebre" by Goblin. It sounds to me like it's just in 4/4, however it has a really odd guitar melody over it that is a pattern in 5, and I think it would be really cool for you to do a video on.
Awesome Video! I peasonally love both soundtracks so much. For the understanding of the Tenet plot I can recommend the video "CinemaWins" made. Also keep up the good work! :)
The composer's surname is pronounced 'year-uns-son' (year like in yearning, uns like in unstable). Pro tip: Use google translate to check for pronounciations, it's very quick! Thanks for another cool vid. I love metal too but the genre would quickly stale if it never gained influence from others. E.g. a cool example of metal + film score music is Earthside.
@@S3lvah no doubt about that, as an American I always thought it was “gore-an-son” until I met some Swedish girls online and they told me how to properly say it lol
@@KM-tv5km Swedish pronounciation is quite unique, and it's particularly misleading for English speakers since they're related (Germanic) languages and the spelling is surprisingly intelligible. Then there's the Å, Ä and Ö letters which are entirely different vowel sounds* from A and O, while people are probably used to similar "accent marks" only imparting a slight change and so read them as A/O. * Ä is between phonetic A and E, like the 'a' in 'cat' Ö is between phonetic O and E, like the vowel in British-pronounced 'heard' or 'burn'
Man.... if you want not metal music, to diversify your content, pleaaaase do an entire month for KOENJI HYAKKEI. (what do you say about a KoenJUNE??? ah ah) They are really not metal and so originally polyrhythmic. There is nothing even similar to them. And I will really love to see your analysis of their structures because they are huge and extremely complex. PS: nothing against metal, anyway, I am really enjoying the mayshuggah content.
The Song Freeport of Tenet is also full of Hertas. Ludwig Must be a huge Meshuggah fan I guess 😅
He is, he’s said it many times
He has Its signature Thordendal Signature guitar!!
"Maybe he was listening to Meshuggah too much" - Ludwig literally has Fredrik Thordendal's signature guitar behind him in the linked video.
Oh hell yes, let's have metalheads write all film scores from now on.
Already has .....LUC LEMAY....Battle of Chamdo!!!...check It out...
Ludwig Göransson said he grew up in the Sweedish metal scene, before he went on to score films.
It all makes sense.
There is no such thing as "listening to Meshuggah too much"
Tried it for decades, with no success
11:50 There's also the chant in The Dark Knight Rises which is in 5

have you heard the vocal rendition by Dave Simonich? ♥
