    how much time does it take to reach to 15psi 121 C? mine is taking a lot of time

    • @AussieMushroomSupplies
      @AussieMushroomSupplies  9 месяцев назад

      It all depends how much material is in there and how powerful your element is
      Around an hour to start building steam is normal
      Then close after your 15min vent
      Then around 15-20min to build pressure to 15psi
      This Is a good speed so you know everything has heated up evenly :)
      Slower is a little better so everything gets a chance to heat up 😊👌🏻

      @@AussieMushroomSupplies thank u I lost 45 grain bags outta 92 like fast lol black mold Trech even had pink mold. After watching this video I’m pretty I drop ball on cooking and I over filled my bags so the volume was probably to high for the 23q presto I use.

    Tons of inconsistent information.

      How so? We are talking about 2 different sterilizing units there

    • @michaelkassenoff9902
      @michaelkassenoff9902 9 месяцев назад +2

      It's not the 2 different pressure cookers. It's the "run on information". You said sterilization takes 15 min at 121c. Then you show a graph showing you cooked a bag at the sterile temp/psi for 35 min, which successfully sterilized your media. Then just seconds later you say you need about 90/120 min respectively to sterilize grain/sawdust. That conflicts with the graph you just showed. There's also no validation of where those numbers come from, how much media you are working with in your bag/jar and the quantity of bags/jars you are sterilizing at a given time. There's no way it would take 90min to sterilize one 32oz jar; I know I ended up with burned up grain. I see those numbers, 90/120min, everywhere without any validation or context. Seems clear that those are not correct in the least. It actually seems far more correct to base sterilization time on bag vs jar, quantity of media type, quantity of total jars/gags being sterilized in a single load, and the thickness from outside wall to center of your media container. So in other words, the 90/120min is arbitrarily chosen nonsense. There clear variables to evaluate and some basic equation to figure out proper time to sterilize.

      Want to add some real information. I figured I'd just get autoclave tape and test psi/time myself. 7 3lb bags, popcorn/brown rice, 75%(or so) hydrated, in a 23qt presto... First run, 60min, everything fully sanatized at 15-16.5psi. I placed autoclave indicator tape right in the middle of the 3lb bags.
      Second run, in progress as I write this. I'm running it 15-16.5psi/30min. 3 3lb bags.
      Ill write an update once complete.

      @michaelkassenoff9902 9 месяцев назад +1

      Extra clarity... Process... After I load the pressure canner and ensure there's plenty of water so it doesn't dry up, I set the stove to high. As soon as I hear the Purge port releasing pressure and the lock engages I put the weight on let it build to 6/7psi then pull the weight and urge back down to 2/3psi. I find this helps it build steam and therefore heat fast. I'll repeat this a few times till I see good steam flowing out during the Purge. Then it's time to leave the weight on. I also add 2 quarters tk the top of the weight right in the center. This is perfect to maintain at 16psi at low heat. So when it reaches 16/17psi turn my stove all the way down to low. I found the perfect position on my stove, seems this is just something u gotta get a feel for in ur stove.

      Update on the second run. Specs: 3x bags, 3lb each, 50/50 popcorn/brown rice (about 75% hydrated), autoclave indicator tape in the center of the bags, 16.5psi/30min - 100% sanatized.
