The 1st gears ratio is good for approx. 100 km/h at 8500 RPM. At start there is so much power that the wheels spin free until after about 2 seconds the car has accelerated to actually 100 km/h, then wheels get grip and the driver switches to 2 gear. Only from now on the speedo shows actual car speed, from what I see there might even still some spin up to 150 km/h in 2nd gear.
I am guessing, that they loose something 0,3 to half a second or so with this. So the golf may even be faster with a modern launch control. Which the supercars actually have.

Sie sagen ein Motorrad hat keine Chance gegen den Golf bei 0-100 aber die H2R dürfte doch nah dran sein oder ? Was ist denn ihrer Erfahrung nach die Zeit eines Motorrads in der Beschleunigung auf 100 ?
Laut Quelle beschleunigt die H2R in 3 Sekunden von 0-100, vorausgesetzt man kriegt nen guten Start hin.

Der Golf fährt in der Regel immer um die 2s, beste 0-100 hatte ich 2,1s und aktuell in diesem Video sind es 2,5s, also eher einer der schlechteren Starts.

Horse power comes from the reaction of gasoline and oxygen(air) , also known as burning or oxidation, in the form of explosions that move the insides of the engines. That reaction is sparked by the sparks from the spark plugs. So the more of these two(air, gas) you suck inside of an engine the more power(explosions) you get. So you get a big fan (turbo, turbine) that sucks a lot of air, and you get a fuel pump that sucks a lotta gas, and you make sure that the engine is fortified to withstand the explosions. Optionally other fuels than gas can be used, like nitrous or methanol.
but why dont they use this in stock cars and make them very lightweight compared to heavy v12s or w16s
@@yourick1953 they might try. Mercedes has a 2.0 that puts out like 360 horses (a45 amg) , and a lot of manufacturers are downsizing engines in their most powerful cars. But these cars have to last hundreds of thousand of km and a small engine has limits of durability when it has hundreds of horses, let alone one thousand. Formula 1 cars at one point had 1.5 engines with 1000 horses (bmw at least) but I think they had to rebuild the engine like every few races or something like that.

Lifelong VAG fan one of the best vids I have seen. Mad respect for Boba and whole team! I myself only have 2006 Ibiza FR with Apr Stage2 and Milltek turboback exchaust and even with that it is almost priceless to see those big BMW:s and Mercs having zero change going from 60-140km/h. I do not want to put anyone in danger so I do those small sprints. Alone motorway it still goes 250km/h and would go faster but the limiter comes but very scary speed even with 2 lanes they look very very tight. But Golf destroying any supercar in the world I absolutely love it and you people who design and tune these fucking monsters MAD RESPECT!

The power to weight ratio of the Golf is quite insane. 1233 HP to 1180 kg = 1.045 HP/kg
No wonder it goes like the wind. In comparison, a Bugatti Chiron has a power to weight ratio of 0.741 HP/kg
The Koenigsegg One:1 also has a power to weight ratio of 1:1, so they should be about the same, but the speedometer is probably inaccurate
Oh also don’t forget that the Koenigsegg should have less drag so it should be faster. Another important factor is wheelspin
@@brq44 Biggest difference and huge decider here is that the golf is on semislicks. That One:1 might have a slightly lower power to weight but it has a physical advantage in every department.

The Mk2 can't run over 400 but still to reach the 400 you need time and a huge field, if racing on the streets the mk2 definitely wins.

I love how all people say 0-100 in 0.1 sec. Dude, the speedometer doesnt measure your airspeed, nor your GPS speed, it measures the speed of wheels, thats why it jumped. Also why would he then cruise at 100km/h for 2 seconds if he was setting his best time? Makes no sense like most of the comments section

Would like to know how reliable the 1233hp golf is? How many pulls can you go without it breaking? Its fun to go fast and cheap but if the engine needs a rebuild every month I think the supercar owners dont have the time to be in a garage 24/7.

It is still a proof of concept. 2.0l @ extreme boost cannot be reliable and nobody would be expecting that.
Is is not about building the better car but it's more about to see what can be achieved on small form factor engines.
American drag racers have to repair the clutch after every run. However they are faster than anything else.
do you know the BMW M12/13 turbo 1500cc 4-cylinder turbocharged Formula One engine from the 1980 years, this little bänger made 1500 HP running 82 psi boost in qualification "3-5 Laps" and run ~900 HP in the Race...it's not a proof of concept, It is tradition
Hello there, a car like this Golf is not a "FAST" car and let me explain. This car can go fast for a period of time, it's limited because of temperatures.
While any car like the BMW M5 can travel with 250 km/h without any limitations for hours this golf can't. Setups like this one are for street or drag races and for FUN!
It's not for traveling fast. Supercars are made so you can go full throttle for hours and have 0 damage.
Any tuned car with same horsepower as a supercar is faster than the supercar.
Anyone who has an extreme setup for his car can relate to my sayings.
Because supercars are made to travel fast,safe and relaxing.

Ich finde es auf jeden Fall gut das du das Auto in Ehre gehalten hast und es nicht an enem Baum oder so klebt. Mein T4 VR6 Business, schluckt eigentlich nur, da nur 140PS, aber ich liebe ihn enfach. ^^

its not made for unbelievable highspeed...the most important point for the tuners was the accleration i think :)
