If you are taking preparation for govt jobs, then you are gaining knowledge about Hist, Geo, Science, Maths, GI, GK, CA, Language, Polity, Economics, Computer, and so on... Then how did you say it makes students unskilled???? Yeah the competition is high but you can't say they are unskilled...

Doesn't help you in real life or in jobs Maybe writing skills helps but that's a completely different thing Another thing is that govt job preparation doesn't make you a knowledgeable person For example you know certain things about the Indian economy But if someone wants some intense writing on some economic theory They prefer someone having an economics degree Most of the people who are preparing for government jobs just want to pass their exam They don't want to gain knowledge For this they just mugged up things Which is not at all bad if you want to carck the exam and many people cracked it like this as well Some upsc aspirants may have some skills Which you are talking about Another thing the term general awareness means That you are aware of certain things that are happening or happened in the past around you And there are some differences between "awareness" and "deep knowledge" But apart from that aspirants have some serious psychological problems They prepare for govt jobs Failed again,do preparation Failed again ,do preparation and this cycle continues over and over again And it becomes a vicious cycle I have seen many people They are unskilled but their salary expectation is sky high They are in this govt job cycle for 4-5 years But when they got jobs in the private sectors They are not happy with starting salaries like 10-15k Look preparing for govt jobs is not bad But you have limit your time That should be maximum 2 years That after that I will do something else in my life

Dear fellow BA graduates, I initially pursued a BA with dreams of a government job. However, upon completing my degree at Ramjas, I realized it wasn't my path. I ventured into the private sector, starting as a technical sales rep in 2014, working night shifts. Through job switches and skill-building, I became eligible for Dell Technologies in 2016. I excelled, earning promotions and a breakthrough opportunity at Adobe as a program manager. Today, I earn a six-figure monthly salary, surpassing the cost of my entire education from 1st grade to graduation. The key lesson: No matter your field, expect initial struggles. Focus on honing additional skills for continuous growth.
Which skills you acquired over the time which we can learn now before applying for any job? Also, what about those who are not good in sales or doesn't want to do target based work?

The problem is that a lot of BA students aren't even aware that internships are a thing. There is no talk about it in college or among peers. The college needs to make the students aware of when and how can they get internships.

Market is manipulating the students as per their requirements. As I was a Science student in 12th after 12th I have taken the addmission in BSc in Pune's top college which is Fergusson. But while studying in college I get to know that the subject which I was studying was of no use for my life. I have dropped my self. Now I am pursuing my graduation in BA spiritual psychology. Now I am able to understand my self properly after studying this subjects. This course has opened my mind and help me to understand myself ❤.
It's not like you won't use that subject anywhere, you could have done masters from a good uni, and then got a good job, maybe if you like PhD or research, you could have done that too
Luckily 14yrs back I did not face these kind of problems. We had great professors. Our professors (University College, Mangalore) went beyond the syllabus to train us. Yes, some of the students were pursuing BA just for the purpose of piece of degree, not to gain knowledge. Yes they are facing problems even till now.

I have been a bright student throughout and opted for humanities. After graduation, I interned in NGOs, worked part time as a tele-marketter. Then I got a social work degree from TISS and got placement immediately. The issue is in BA you must only go to the best colleges. As to internships, please stop saying a history graduate should do internship in sales. That's a problem of the economy. What is really needed is to create avenues for internship for history graduates to assist historians, museologists, archaeologists, curators, writers; political science students to assist local political parties, campaign agencies etc; geography students to assist geographers, geologists, anthropologists; psychology students to assist psychologist. The problem is that of the economy, not just that of the students.
exactly. we don't have to start giving sales and marketing jobs to humanities students. we just need more humanities jobs. there have to be opportunities for these students to work in the fields that they are actually studying.
you will be surprised to find out the number of unemployed people with a doctorate degree , the reason millions don't focus on study is because they think it is simply too unrewarding.
One of the most important videos made by Mohak. Indian students need better career counselling, psychometric tests to understand their strengths and weaknesses, access to better quality education and upskilling to make India a developed country. Career fairs can be organised by school and college in collaboration with career guidance companies top universities worldwide, top personal branding strategists, top corporate excecutives, government departments and other such experts to provide further career guidance to students for their bright future. In a nutshell, efficient human capital development. Edit: It would also be great of more universities offer integrated and hons degrees as well.
I think the main reason for unemployment is the lack of curiosity, like I was curious about game development from my 10 th I am a bsc graduate and because of my curiosity of game development I taught my self many programming languages, how to use game engine how to do all that stuff needed for game development no one said me to do so and because of my curiosity I am a successful game developer now so I think curiosity is main
More than Curiosity itself, it is actually the lack of Monetization amongst Indian Graduates. "SALES = SUCCESS" "SALES MAKES MONEY" 90% ppl in India cannot "SELL". Often Colleges & Universities don't provide Career planning or Career guidance. More often than not Grads run after few jobs, that too on the basis of simply hearsay, without doing any due diligence themselves.
Bhai curiosity Jaagne k liye jisme curiousity jaagi usse first interaction bhi toh hona chahiye. Yahi sabse badi dikkt yaha. We need to move away from “Sikhaya nahi jata college mein” to “Maine kya sikha college mein beyond my college curriculum which will help me grow in my career.” Not sure if the education system in India is ever gonna change for good. We have to learn things on our own to shape our career.
@@sakshisonawane6626 That’s how education is everywhere outside India. A lot of focus on what students actually learn rather than “ratta maaro”. Plagiarism tests on assignments. Strict word limit on essays. Final year project showcase. Students work really hard for their GPAs. We don’t have good teachers in India, and issue with not having good teachers stems from the very root cause that Indian education system has not evolved with time, schools and colleges are understaffed, teachers are underpaid. Their time is utilised on things like Mid Day Meal Distribution & Election Duty. My mom is a school principal. I have seen her struggle. Coming back to the curriculum. I will cite my own example. I was in CBSE board. I don’t think NCERT did a great job at clarifying concepts. It touches things only on the surface level without going in depth. And like most people, I too come from a really small town. I did not have the access to internet during my school days & I have worked my butt off to move to bigger cities in India to pursue my graduation & masters. Getting a job did not come easy too. I never went home during my studies. I was always interning or freelancing during holidays. Were the professors exceptional in undergrad and postgrad? Nope. We were expected to learn things on our own. They would give us names of books to pick up & read from the library & we had to get back to them on what we understood & learnt. Trust me that has helped me a lot in my journey. I do agree with you on the part that teachers should make learning enjoyable & understandable to each student as per their learning capability. And at the end of the day there are no bad students, only bad teachers. But students should also have a “curious keeda” in them. If teachers are incapable to teach in classroom, can platforms like unacademy or physics wallah be of any help? What about college seniors? Can they help out in understanding a particular subject? I feel there are a lot of solutions to one problem. It’s only about figuring out which route to take.
Absolutely true. I m a student at IIT Roorkee. Everyone knows how much prestigious are IITs I don't need to mention that but the thing is even this situation is same in IIT. This points to another hidden problem in India, lack of awareness and research about job prospects from a degree. We are so frantic about the immediate next step: board exam marks, then entrance exam prep, college admission etc that we don’t think a step beyond. I am certain that if all the BA students in India had gotten good career counselling many would have planned their futures differently. We need to promote future based thinking in India. Right now we grind our students under pressure so much that they don’t have the bandwidth for it

My biggest learning in the job market as a BA English honours, MA English graduate - diversify your skill set. I started as an editor in the publishing industry, worked in a startup where I not only edited books, I learned how to typeset them, give ideas for book cover designs, book titles, generate leads, manage client communications, marketing, etc. In a short span, I became invaluable for my company and eligible for jobs in multiple roles. Then in my next job in the study abroad industry, I not only did well in catering to A grade students, but equally excelled in handling low grade students and helping them gain best admits. What kept me going apart from my capabilities as an editor was my academic background. Humanities provide you critical thinking abilities to survive in jobs that demand creativity. It provides you the ability to ask right questions and influence people with you informed and unique insights. Majorly my students are engineers who have the technical skills to transform the world but lack critical thinking to bring about such changes that can have a profound impact in the world.

Actually problem is that we don't have solid art industry here. 1. Visual Design industry: Just look around the banners once you go out for a while, either they are clichéd or they look so cheap and wrong. Same thing in packaging and digital advertising. Things are so bad that if you really see a good ad, then you know it's directed by Tanmay Bhatt. 2. Exterior and interior: We have lost our glory. And somehow we are trying to copy the west and ending up nowhere. Just look at the Indian cricket stadiums and the colors we choose. Things are truly wrong. You can’t get away such things without the help of expert designers. 3. Art and entertainment: We do have massive art and entertainment industry, but I doubt B.A. courses teach those stuff. There are some courses but not really popular. 4. Animation: Lol. We all know what kind of Animation industry we have here. And in the name of Animation teaching, Arena, MAAC are scamming millions of people. 5. UX: Here companies hire ui and graphic designers for ux stuff. 🙃 Probably only NIFS and some few are good institutions. Otherwise you gotta depend on internet materials, which is even better.
Except art and entertainment all other fields and practicals are already in engineering degrees and courses lol if u want a career in any of this u need coding analytics and mathematics skills which are part of engineering degree ba courses doesn't give u any skills to take career in this industry......
I graduated with BA in 2013. My earlier goal was to get into either Law or Civil Services (I come from a family of Lawyers). Speaking of what I did accomplished, I cleared the Prelims twice but due to different reasons couldn’t cleared the mains both the times. Also, cleared IBPS once but lost interest and didn’t wanted to become a Lawyer since everyone in my family is already one and even they wanted me to be something other than an Advocate even if it’s closer to that. So I did my MBA from Amity University from the money I saved working for 2 years and currently, I am working as Team Lead - HR with one of the largest Real Estate brands in Dubai on a salary I never expected I could make. Having a BA is one of the best decisions I ever took since it made me stronger in multiple disciplines instead of limiting me to just one specialisation.

17:10 Agree! I left/dropped out from Gov engg in 3rd yr (CS Branch- 7cgpa) & went for BA Honours instead, the discipline of BA which engross me completely, the stream in which I get completely immerse & mesmerise about while studying about it! 19:00 Agree! Just like how people are thinking about Entrepreneurship, many people also have degree in 1 field but moving to completely different field, slowly many people are thinking & doing things which they like about or have some passion about! Same way many are thinking about BA degrees too! You just need to look from different pov towards this degrees & they are on par with engg & other degrees! 20:00 Yes this is great initiative! & hope it'll prosper in near future! I mean just think about your school life, there were many of your classmates who used to love different subjects like Geography, History or some might had interest in literature subjects or maybe Biology(zoology, botany i mean) or even Civics maybe! But after 10th very very few follow this subject & build career in it, bcoz of Stupid Follow the Herd Mentality & no Guidance about those fields! & most imp after 12th (or while choosing engg field) *SCOPE KISME HAI?* Seriously? There is scope everywhere, you just need to curious, passionate about the field you are working in, If you love what you are doing you'll find or create your own way than following or walking on way already created by someone else! :-When I was leaving good engg clg & life, everyone thought I'm stupid leaving such good 3yr academic life, parents were upset, relatives/neighbours mocking(or maybe getting happy from inside), but I believed in myself & stepped forward! I went for BA Honours Geography🌏 which I'm fascinated about! (Geology to be precise, in which i'll do masters & might do PhD). In just 1yr everything became normal (except couple of times with neighbours) & I'm happy about my decision & seeing me happy parents are happy! :-See, I might had good career, future & good life in tier 1 with all modern amenities if i had continued my engg. (Yes I liked CS engg, but after Geo🌏😉) but at the end of the day, it's all about satisfaction of work for me! If the field I'm working in fascinate me, even after daily hectic work, if I'm loving my job profile & gives peace of mind at the end of day & excites me for going to work on next day, then I'm happy to work in that field even with _Less Pay_ (Geo is that field for me than CS!) Sounds little filmy, but it's truth for me! 😅 Edit:- And yes now I have clear goal in front of me, what i'm doing right now, what I want to do after that, In which field I want to specialize in, which company or country I want to work in, I have my career path planned & ready to execute! I know, things might not go as planned, but atleast I have my own unpaved road in front of me which I might not had if i had stayed in previous field!
The main reason for opting BA, bsc is financial condition of families. Even I'm a bsc graduate don't know what to do next When I was in school my dream was to do btech but was not able to afford.. let's see what happens next 😊
Maybe try for iit jam the competition is comparatively low Or Cat and equivalent exams, particularly for cat many iims demand diversity, mainly graduates other than btech. So if you're a girl from fields other than btech your chances of selection are high

Please remember there is a difference between advise and warning, fear and interest, need and want. We all have to fight our own battles, be respectful and if possible- helpful. We all shall by God's grace find our destinies.
Why people choose BA : 1. Poverty : especially in villages after school students do labour and other works to earn and support family. 2. Fear of maths and physics ( fear of failure and hard work ) 3. BA is easy and requires less college and class attendance. 4. Provides proper time and environment to prepare for government eaxm. 5. Some students do like History, Geography and Humanities. This is my personal opinion 🙂 If I'm wrong or want to add more points please assist me 🙏🏻 Thank you 🗿
Most of people doesn't want to work hard and took humanity and last me complain karte phirenge job nahi lagi !! UPSE and other Government exams me seats hi kitni hai aur candidate 1 Cr plus hai !!
I am a BA pass out and I am an employee! I would suggest all the fellow BA students to focus on communication English/French, be open to think how you can implement your learnings in the market and try to learn as many computer oriented skills as you can! Students in the field of Economics should focus more on entrepreneurship and computer oriented skills, try to find a problem, then make a solution to that problem and you can capitalise it. The best part about BA is you get so much of spare time to get more skills and hands-on experiences. BA is a sleeping giant.
So true ba toh bas education k liye kro for real purpose of education and work in any field acc. To your interest, explore so many things, work in other fields and making money is not even a primary purpose of education its secondary.
Indians are too much focussed on gettiing derees than learning skills. And when they get degrees they don't want to do blue collar jobs. A car mechanic can earn upto 1 lakh in Bengaluru, but many people want to do 10k white collar bpo jobs than 1lakh blue collar ones.

I am a bio student of class 12th .I got 93 percent in class 10th so everyone was expecting me to choose science stream but I had interest in literature. But I think more than interest what matters for me is to opt the subjects which can give me job . Even now everyone ask me why I didn't take maths .All I want is to get a gov job in my field.Since I am from Jharkhand having a gov job is similar to to see god in real life
And what is There to laugh about It? I have seen students with top ranks taking arts while students with just fine grades take science and they aren't Even Good at It, neither interested. Majority of maths students choose maths due to family pressure and for better career opportunity, not because They are Interested or good at maths Honestly, When I was in 11th, 12th students used to be most relaxed During maths exams while chem was real fear. Its not because they were good in maths, rather because maths paper used to be easiest as compared to other subjects. And its level was quite low, to the extend that I was quite sure that even my friends who took arts can do it after little bit of explanation. Now it can be different for different ppl but maths isn't as hard as ppl present it. Yes, u might not be excellent at it but an average student with little bit of interest in maths or Even just interest in money (thinking that only maths can give good earning) can easily do graduation with maths and it won't be any harder than graduation in arts
A big problem is also that students are largely clueless on what they can pursue, we know just handful of job positions and handful of degrees. Random conversations with some people makes us feel that there's so much to do apart from regular BA/Btech. Firstly we lack the education to take education... And the system and society is in shambles already.
I'm just clearing my 12th.. Sir, do you know what do they even teach in B.A? And, are they're books and syllabus just like in secondary education? Or... Asking as I'm literally clueless and have no one to ask...
@@improvement-qj9oe See for any course there will be a prescribed syllabus. And for something like BA, you'll study english, PolScience, History, and all which haven't changed at all. (You can't have another history, 'jo hua wo hua hi hai') In english you'll have the classical books written by the pioneers of english language like Shakespear. If you want to pursue something, be very particular of what you want to study and why, and how can you proceed in life with that knowledge. (Do you want to be a history expert writing columns based on deep research, or you want to be an author with good command over the language structure. There are numerous possibilities, and BA/Humanities is very flexible. You could study public policy if you are into that, and get employed by think tanks. If you like design then there are various courses on design like aesthetic, architectural, animation, etc; and even product design (the B.Des degrees). You can even study economics, statistics as well (all companies and think tanks need economic perspectives). Management (hotel, hospital etc) is also there. Psychology can be an important field as well, even sports and fitness. All this I said could feel overwhelming, and out of context of BA and the question you asked, but the point is to know that there is a so much to do. Invest good (high) amount of time on what you want to study, so that you don't regret (If you do regret afterwards, keep hope and start afresh, don't care about external people). Also look for all these thing abroad too; India can be limited. Final suggestion is DO NOT study BA simply with the aim of clearing UPSC. Please don't. All the best.
Mohak, a great video again. But, your testimonials are very limited to students of a few popular universities. One of the reasons for the high proportion of BA students is that they are the nearest 'go to government colleges' located around any rural area of India. I have worked in rural areas for a decade- the most common courses are BA + B.Ed. It's not just the enthusiasm for government job, it's more about the combination of available options- BA being a default course for many, awareness being limited to your district colleges, and students from poor families having limited means to access professional courses. A deep-dive in the spatial mapping of BA colleges vis-a-vis colleges offering technical/professional (NOT Vocational) courses could provide you a reason for this.
I scored 94.2 percent in my board exams and then opted for Humanities. I was earlier forced to go to Aakash because like every middle-class Indian parent, mine also wanted to me opt for PCM. But you know, the thing is, this stream is not EASIER as it might seem to others. It's highly comprehensive and bulky plus I have economics and maths to provide a kind of OPTION B SCOPE. Few teachers were like wtf. Plus, CIVIL SERVANTS are supposed to know about our society and history and beliefs not how an engine works. much of the UPSC paper is based on humanities subjects. In fact, humanitarian subjects opposed excessive control of religion over ideas and due to this the scientists were able to circulate their ideas. Humanities wale buddies, you guys can rock. We can be the pillars of a socialist and democratic society. Communication ko develop karne ka scope sabse zyada tumhare paas hai. Love your subjects and be proud:) Edit: RESTART
Well, I got a job while I was in college, i was doing BCA and i had 7 backlogs, I didn't use to go to college much. I got my first job on the basis of my 12th graduation (which wasn't great either i scored like 57% commerce without maths). My first job paid me 15K and later it increased to 25K within 6 months. 10 months after my first job I got a job paying me 40K base, and including incentives and such , on average I'd take home 70- 80K to sometimes 1L. I moved to Canada 8 months ago, I have 2 cars (a new RAV4 Hybrid & a used ford escape) I work only 20 hrs a week, I'm an international student. Yet I'm saving more than what I was earning back home with my highest paying job. I guess you just have to keep hustling and eventually you'll make it. I haven't made it yet but I'm sure much closer than I was in India.

7:23 is the actual mindset of our society and the education system. In 10th if you get 75%+ all over then only you can get science. Commerce is available for 45% & up students. & if you have lower than that you're forced to take arts. (I am talking about WB board & specifically my school) The problem is that school & society won't check in which stream you're good at but your overall marks to judge what stream is good for you.

I am a BA Asst. Proffessor in a UG college. I encourage any BA students watching this video to pursue higher studies (MA/P.hD) and hone their skills in research methodology. For those afraid of maths, you should start focusing on statistics as it is pivotal for research work. Dont fear if you got poor marks in maths in class X, i barely passed with 38% in CBSE class X maths myself. All you need is conceptual knowledge and the rest is done by statistical softwares like SPSS (trust me on this). There is lots of scope if you are patient enough to devote a few more years beyond graduation. If anyone has any question, reply to me in the comments.
@@yashsharma1280 There is sarkari politics and institutional politics. Most institutions indulge in the later, where they only hire people who are the alumnis or teacher's pets. So yeah, like most high level jobs in India, you need connections. But dont just look at professor jobs. There are lots of career opportunities with research skills and experience.
I think we should make all the degree programs to 4yrs (including 6 months mandatory internship). This will enable everyone to learn new skills and gain hands-on experience in working place. Colleges which don't have technical staff could pool students from various colleges and conduct classes or provide online classes.
When I was a student, and this is my honest findings. I could find nobody who was willing to go arts field and specifically, those who took arts took it out of lack of options. (Commerce was the same but at least I could find many many more people who scored pretty good and wanted to opt for commerce. This wasn't the case with arts. None at all. I think Arts and Humanities subjects would thrive after we have built the national to near developed stage. Till then, India (youth of India) will need to take India forward by means of Technology and Science.
As a B. Tech undegrad, I just want to tell that ones doing BA are not failures in life. You need to be on the right track of your dreams after college life. The pain and suffering of every college student that has to go through right from to admission to placement can't be compared by degree. Some get frustrated and some get motivated but end up getting frustrated but guys don't give up. Either be govt jobs or a business or even engineering you can do it all after BA. Unemployed ones too get work to do although menial but doesn't mean they are bad or their life is bad. Quality of education must be the same across all degrees to get decent placement then things like internships and startups will be less required and you'll know enough to pursue your aim in life either by self or the place where you're learning.
It's very difficult for a average BA student to compete with an engineer . Even an average engineer from tier 3 college have better communication skills , analytical skills , problem solving skills than a BA graduate . Most of the successful candidate from UPSC has engineering background . Engineers are stealing the jobs which were earlier meant for BA graduates . Most non tech companies favour BTech over other degrees .
In case you do not get placed in campus recruitment, your first job will always be through reference. Your parents and relatives have to be well connected to get you a job. After that you need to build your own references and connections to climb up the ladder.
Shifa in 4:47 perfectly described it. Students in India are boxed inside their own niches. Their skills don't apply anywhere else. Engineers know only engineering and Psychology students know only psychology. But in real life, skills are multi-disciplinary. For example someone with both engineering and psychology skills will be able to build user interfaces that are appealing to a large audience.
BA especially in Economics, if done from top institutions like SRCC, Hansraj, Hindu, DSE can get you a job from 4lpa to 10lpa on average. It goes as high as 15-20lpa as well, if one is top of thier batch. Students get placed in Finance, Research, Analytics, Consulting. From corporate to think tanks of Govt of India. College also matters a lot. Once can't blame the whole degree itself.
Marketing, journalism, tourism, event management, publishing, administration, operations. Learn a skill like this. Show it to people. Network. You'll find a way. Take one thing at a time.
I almost knew everything mentioned in this video but still THANK YOU, Mohak for making such well researched and insightful videos for the people of this country.
I didn't know any such thing as an internship during my college days. I only came to know about it once my cousin went to study in a private college in Kolkata but by that time I was already done with college and had started preparing for govt. Job exams. There was no discussions about such a thing as skill development or internships and every one( I suppose) was having the perception that placements are only for engineering students. Every one was studying to just get the degree after which they would start applying for govt. Jobs. I suppose not only the colleges but also the schools had to take up the responsibility to counsel students about various career opportunities.
I think passion should not be a sole criteria for selecting a stream, one has to pay the bills at some point of their life. Ofcourse you shouldn't do something that you completely hate but if a job pays the bills even when u ain't passionated abt it, that's not the worst case. One can't follow a passion if the bills start piling up. Students should be taught about financial stability while selecting a stream, specially if we come from middle class bg.
People who study BA generally go into journalism, police 🚓 , law, or diplomacy or research . Few go to study design or even business and very few take up research and 📽️ film.
I really did not expect that someone can put the depressing experience of Indian Youth having BA degree in so elaborated way. I did complete my graduation in BA English Hons and literally whatever I saw today in your video Sir, it shook me from the core. I myself was scared when I opted for Humanities in my grad, though I really liked the subjects and topics we are taught about in BA hons. I was like, how would I compete in this world of huge competition, even for a moderately paying job. And today, even after having one, and that also through a competitive exam (and not becoz of my BA degree) as our college did not have campus recruitment facilities for the grads, still feeling out of the so-called circle. Our system needs to take a bold step for BA candidates. Only opening the universities that provide degree humanities is not at all going to work. A VERY BIG THANKS TO YOU.😊

BA in Economic , English Literature has some value. Also general awareness is very important , many schools expect from sixth grader onwards to read two news paper a day. a under Graduate should read at least three leading news paper and make daily notes, One financial , one local language and one english news paper, also networking at all levels is key, insider information drives you a mile.

Bitter truth is
One of the main reasons of
Unemployment in India is
"Preparing for Govt jobs"
It actually makes students unskilled
If you are taking preparation for govt jobs, then you are gaining knowledge about Hist, Geo, Science, Maths, GI, GK, CA, Language, Polity, Economics, Computer, and so on...
Then how did you say it makes students unskilled???? Yeah the competition is high but you can't say they are unskilled...
@@revealthinking12345 these "when and how babar died?"
Doesn't help you in real life or in jobs
Maybe writing skills helps but that's a completely different thing
Another thing is that govt job preparation doesn't make you a knowledgeable person
For example you know certain things about the Indian economy
But if someone wants some intense writing on some economic theory
They prefer someone having an economics degree
Most of the people who are preparing for government jobs just want to pass their exam
They don't want to gain knowledge
For this they just mugged up things
Which is not at all bad if you want to carck the exam and many people cracked it like this as well
Some upsc aspirants may have some skills
Which you are talking about
Another thing the term general awareness means
That you are aware of certain things that are happening or happened in the past around you
And there are some differences between "awareness" and "deep knowledge"
But apart from that aspirants have some serious psychological problems
They prepare for govt jobs
Failed again,do preparation
Failed again ,do preparation and this cycle continues over and over again
And it becomes a vicious cycle
I have seen many people
They are unskilled but their salary expectation is sky high
They are in this govt job cycle for 4-5 years
But when they got jobs in the private sectors
They are not happy with starting salaries like 10-15k
Look preparing for govt jobs is not bad
But you have limit your time
That should be maximum 2 years
That after that I will do something else in my life

Dear fellow BA graduates,
I initially pursued a BA with dreams of a government job.
Thanks for that

Then I got a social work degree from TISS and got placement immediately. The issue is in BA you must only go to the best colleges. As to internships, please stop saying a history graduate should do internship in sales. That's a problem of the economy. What is really needed is to create avenues for internship for history graduates to assist historians, museologists, archaeologists, curators, writers; political science students to assist local political parties, campaign agencies etc; geography students to assist geographers, geologists, anthropologists; psychology students to assist psychologist. The problem is that of the economy, not just that of the students.

"SALES = SUCCESS"
"SALES MAKES MONEY"
90% ppl in India cannot "SELL". Often Colleges & Universities don't provide Career planning or Career guidance. More often than not Grads run after few jobs, that too on the basis of simply hearsay, without doing any due diligence themselves.

We need to move away from “Sikhaya nahi jata college mein” to “Maine kya sikha college mein beyond my college curriculum which will help me grow in my career.”
Not sure if the education system in India is ever gonna change for good. We have to learn things on our own to shape our career.
College jakar khud hi sikhna hai to, teachers ki kya jarurat
This right here! Even my college doesn't teach anything useful i am learning cad designing from a reputed designing institute

We are so frantic about the immediate next step: board exam marks, then entrance exam prep, college admission etc that we don’t think a step beyond.

Just look around the banners once you go out for a while, either they are clichéd or they look so cheap and wrong.

If the field I'm working in fascinate me, even after daily hectic work, if I'm loving my job profile & gives peace of mind at the end of day & excites me for going to work on next day, then I'm happy to work in that field even with _Less Pay_ (Geo is that field for me than CS!)
Sounds little filmy, but it's truth for me! 😅
Edit:- And yes now I have clear goal in front of me, what i'm doing right now, what I want to do after that, In which field I want to specialize in, which company or country I want to work in, I have my career path planned & ready to execute! I know, things might not go as planned, but atleast I have my own unpaved road in front of me which I might not had if i had stayed in previous field!
Hello
What are u doing at this time

I think a major factor is fuss created by people about Science. The environment created by prejudices is really harmful one and discouraging. Please remember there is a difference between advise and warning, fear and interest, need and want. We all have to fight our own battles, be respectful and if possible- helpful. We all shall by God's grace find our destinies.
Why people choose BA :
1. Poverty : especially in villages after school students do labour and other works to earn and support family.
2. Fear of maths and physics ( fear of failure and hard work )
3. BA is easy and requires less college and class attendance.
4. Provides proper time and environment to prepare for government eaxm.
5. Some students do like History, Geography and Humanities.

Honestly, When I was in 11th, 12th students used to be most relaxed During maths exams while chem was real fear.
Completed my MBA from average college and now making 35k per month and we have so much flexibility in work❤
Mohak, a great video again.
Love your subjects and be proud:)

We are all graduates
We are all adults
We all know plenty of things
We all have our own potential
But why are we still so helpless?😮
We don't have the right guidance
Well, I got a job while I was in college, i was doing BCA and i had 7 backlogs, I didn't use to go to college much. I got my first job on the basis of my 12th graduation (which wasn't great either i scored like 57% commerce without maths).
My first job paid me 15K and later it increased to 25K within 6 months.
10 months after my first job I got a job paying me 40K base, and including incentives and such , on average I'd take home 70- 80K to sometimes 1L.
I moved to Canada 8 months ago,
I have 2 cars (a new RAV4 Hybrid & a used ford escape)
I work only 20 hrs a week, I'm an international student.
Yet I'm saving more than what I was earning back home with my highest paying job.
I guess you just have to keep hustling and eventually you'll make it.
I haven't made it yet but I'm sure much closer than I was in India.

In 10th if you get 75%+ all over then only you can get science.
Commerce is available for 45% & up students.
& if you have lower than that you're forced to take arts. (I am talking about WB board & specifically my school)
The problem is that school & society won't check in which stream you're good at but your overall marks to judge what stream is good for you.

Being a B.A (Hons.) English Language and Literature Graduate It's really difficult to look for a job as 90% of the job is taken by Engineers. It took me 5 years to get a job.. Trust me no BA College has a recruitment team. Or placement cells.

@@mikaell.chuaungo3637na... Ba degree is usless
But I've heared that its too difficult to get a job even after completing PHD. Due to politics many are unable to become Asst. Prof.
Wanted video on this topic for very badly.. thank you mohak ❤🎉
@@debanikgoswami4834BA ones can go for either MA in IR from clgs like symbiosis or DU and get cushy jobs in think tanks
BTech ke baad konsi job le li aapne?
True , environmental factors like family and financial stability much needed ,
Doing MA in Political Science and I still regret why I didn't went for science stream after scoring 434 in 10th. But it's all written in destiny.

Marketing, journalism, tourism, event management, publishing, administration, operations. Learn a skill like this. Show it to people. Network. You'll find a way. Take one thing at a time.
People with literature can only get a job as a teacher in hindi medium schools.
I almost knew everything mentioned in this video but still THANK YOU, Mohak for making such well researched and insightful videos for the people of this country.
But I am happy with what i have taken and i will work so hard in my field and will achieve something big for sure.
Thank you for raising such issues which had been normalized.

BA is not popular it is basic/easiest course to get Bachelor's level degree, which makes people eligibile for Government exams or other competitive exams.
Exactly I think the same way.
@@agrawalrahul1True these degrees in BA like economics and English have good relevance in today's society. It also teachee communication skills. But in History or Political Science it is only mugging up and remembering. So becomes harder for students to think analytically
Your positive dose in your news letter soch vichar was very helpful to keep my mind because we read and watch a lot of negativity around us in today's world where in India Manipur is facing caste clashes and in the world Israel and Palestine war is happening.. so it becomes more important to read some good stuff.
