    Great video thanks 👍. Have none of these 🤡 clowns on the side of the road ever read the highway code. I was taught to face the oncoming traffic when I was in the scouts at 11 years old.

      The day was fantastic Mike, well apart from falling off about ten minutes before this video started! Oh the embarrassment! Only stopped as I spotted a waterfall through the trees but the hill I was on was so steep that when I held the front brake it could not grip and so ran away backwards, oh what a clot! No damage, picked bike up with a bit of assistance from two men in a car, filmed waterfall, stream, mountains and bike then set off again. It was so steep that the men's car almost burnt out their clutch trying to set off. Thank you for watching Mike.

      @cloudmaker I stopped and gave a couple a lift , one at a time, the woman had blisters from walking up those big hills and couldn't go on ,then got her husband. Nearly came off also 🙌 was scary 😨.

      Hello old Simon, might be a bit bigger than Thorpe Cloud! As for the mention of Skrees or Screes did you know you could spell it either way, we were always taught it was scree with a 'c'. Mind you we are from the poorer, more backward part of Derbyshire! 😂😂😂 Thank you Simon yet another memory of a younger me!

      It was a great road to ride and have wanted to do it for ages, yes I thought the Audi driver was a good start, nearly getting wiped out before I'd started! Also managed to do Kirkstone Pass later on in the afternoon as well. All the best.

    One of my favourite Lakes drives. The camera doesn't do the descent angle any justice. The ascent to the mine is worse! Try Wrynose and Hardknott passes East to West, then back West to East. Hardknott is a very different drive going East. Top film as per usual. PS not sure if Hardknott can be bike ridden safely, the road surface is covered in tarmac ripples. Might need a car trip beforehand to assess the possibility.

    • @cloudmaker
      @cloudmaker  3 месяца назад

      Hello Malcolm, only recently heard of Wrynose but have wanted to do Hardknott for a while, thought I might have got it in this time but will have to wait, for now. Will have to check it out on other's videos if it's questionable, thank you for the heads up and the comment. All the best Malcolm.

    How you keeping mate, I bet it's nice to be on two wheels. what a stunning ride reminds me of the narrow roads around, Beddgelert, Pen-y-Groes, Llanberis around Snowdonia to wards Caernarfon. It's is totally different driving for pleasure than driving for your job. Have a great time enjoy it, catch you soon Take care

    • @cloudmaker
      @cloudmaker  3 месяца назад +1

      Hello Shaun the only one I didn't recognise there was Beddgelert but after looking it up I'm sure I must have passed through there on the bike over the last few years as I've covered most of that area. Mentioning the driving for pleasure, that's one of the things I miss about driving your own lorry as many a time I'd take a route a little off the beaten track, I once told our old weighbridge man that I could pretend to be touring, then it feels less like actual work. Of course these routes got less and less as more and more weight limits have been imposed over the years. I got three things done on this day that I've wanted to do for years; Honister Pass, Threkeld Museum and the Kirkstone Pass. If I can video it properly we made an amazing discovery when looking at photo's of me on Kirkstone Pass as we sat in our living room a day later, hopefully I will be able to show it. All the best Shaun.

    Another nice ride! 👍🏼👍🏼 Looks like a fun piece of road. The surface looked rather variable, from great to "questionable" in patches. That'll keep you on the ball! 🤣🤣
    0:24 AUDIot! Another scurvy, scabrous, corner cutting dog!
    6:23, 6:55, 10:23, 11:10, 13:46 So many running or walking with their backs to the traffic. I'm surprised to see so many doing it on such a narrow road!
    7:16 A BMW driver that actually has spatial awareness! Who'da thunk it! 🤣🤣🤣
    Then there's the typically spatial unaware BMW "driver", in the wife's Skoda, we all know... 🤣🤣
    11:20, 11:43 Then there's these two, looked like they crossed from the track on the right, to the correct side of the road. Followed by a smart jogger. 👍🏼
    12:57 You cant park there, Dave!
    14:55 Dave should have parked in here, on the right... 🤣🤣

      Oh you really were on the ball with all your observation and following comment. Remember the black and white photo of the trucks from the first tarring of the road? I've been sent the full information about the two trucks, the two drivers names, the registration numbers and who they belonged to and what it says on the sides! Also why they were there as it was a still from a promotional film for the company that had done the tarring but they took two brand new trucks up there for the film. Isn't the world a small place full of information, history and memories. All the best Kevin.

      @@cloudmaker Indeed! 👍🏼👍🏼😁 Some of us were lucky to have been born with two eyes that see in colour (also black & white! 🤣) and a head that swivels.
      I can't speak for those that weren't... We all know where they "sit" in the big scheme of things... on someone's dashcam clips for our ridicule! 🤣🤣
      I've got a "thing" for those that choose (poorly!) to walk with their back to the traffic. They're really not switched on.
      I hope you've got an upcoming clip with all that info. That would be very interesting to see! History is a funny thing. If we don't keep passing it on, it's lost forever.

      Sorry to hear you are suffering as an agoraphobic, fortunately I hear there is cure
      just around the corner! 😉😂😂 Yes I think a BMW did do that, must have been a Ford driver who'd borrowed it for a day! Although I actually like being at home I can't do it for long periods as the Wife would end up wrapping a frying pan around my head. I'm trying to think of something to help you and I think that if you also suffer from arachnophobia (fear of spiders) I can cure you. Simply fill your house with spiders the bigger the better and hey presto you'll be outside really quickly! Well I would anyway as I can't stand them. I hope that helps! 😉😁😂🤣 All the best Sarah.
