  • David Hancock and his team traveled to the Boundary Bay Central nest to retrieve the remains of precious Bowen, an eaglet who died July 3, 2024, and to clean the nest of old nesting materials and add fresh moss and sticks. The video is a highlight of the nest cleaning and features David, Ryan (cam zoomer), RoseA (topic assistant for the BB forum), AP (ground observer for the nest), and his friend, the climber (who cleaned the nest) plus others on the ground.
Once Bowen's remains were removed by Ryan, David and the climber added fresh moss and more sticks to the nest to make it ready for Mere and Pere's return this next nesting season. Other members of the team got to travel up in the lift to the nest.
It should be mentioned Blue, at 100 days old, fledged August 6, 2024, at 3:47 pm after branching for the first time that morning. Mere left the area on August 6th and Pere was last seen August 7th.

Thank you, Hancock Wildlife Foundation for allowing us the privilege to observe Mere and Pere throughout their nesting season. Join us as we follow this magnificent eagle pair this year. hancockwildlif...
