It is one of the trains that I have read the most, the environment looks very beautiful! I didn't know there was another JR station near the end. Many greetings Andrew!
Good question. Looks like you can pick up tickets at JRwest ticket offices around Osaka/kyoto. Like all trains in Japan, tickets go on sale one month prior. I don't know of any way to reserve tickets abroad. I found this on the website: Tickets can be bought from JR West and Japanese travel agencies beginning at 10 a.m. on the day 1 month prior to your ride date. ※JR West sales are restricted to select stations in the Keihanshin (Kyoto, Osaka, and Kobe) area for tickets after March 1, 2020. 【Sales Locations】 Kyoto Station, Kameoka Station, Nijo Station, Saga-Arashiyama Station, Inari Station, Shin-Osaka Station, Osaka Station, Tsuruhashi Station, Kyobashi Station, Shin-Imamiya Station, JR Namba Station, Tennoji Station, Nara Station, Kansai-airport Station, Sannomiya Station
Genuinely impressed at the information you got for a spontaneous video!
Glad you enjoyed it! I'm glad they maintained the old line for this run! Great thing to do in Kyoto!
It looks like fun! I miss you covering festivals
Still not too many festivals going on yet =/
I did this when I was in Kyoto - great tourist train! Was in the open air car.
Glad you got to jump on it! I dont know how I missed it my first time in Kyoto. I literally learned about the train earlier this day!

can you buy 1 ticket and take the trip to and fro? or need 2 tickets.
You need two tickets to go to and fro. I took this train one way here and then the regular train back to Kyoto.
