    I watched both your videos back to back, the printer setup and this.
    I'm EXHAUSTED!!!
    And I'm also envious, but in a good way. I've been sending out my prints for years so I can appreciate everything you've gone through.
    I love your work ethic and determination to do it right. Ever print you send out the door to a first time customer is "you".
    There's the old saying and I'm sure you've heard it and it's absolutely true.
    ...You never get a second chance to make a first impression...", so that first impression had better be the best.
    Great work and great videos. Judging by your attitude, you're the right person for the job!!!
    Much success and Thanks for sharing 👍😉

    Your work is truly amazing! You are a very talented young woman. I would go with the thinner quick-drying canvas. It's still a high-quality medium. Also bearing in mind most prints will be viewed behind glass from ten feet away. I think both prints are of equal quality.

    Hey, I bought the canon pro 4000 last year when I was in vegas, covid brought my ass back to Canada BUT I did want to share that I tried almost EVERY paper out there and the best results I had was from Red River Paper, the prices are really good but the quality blows away any of the Epson or other "printer" brand papers. They also are made in USA which means it is duty free!! So while I havent yet ordered paper to be shipped here and dealt with border issues I think for the $100 you should do yourself a favour and try out a roll (oh btw I personally use Polar Matte 60lb I thought matte would be boring but the colours were so good on it that it became my fave paper instantly) anyway great vids sorry about the unsolicited advice lol.

      I personally prefer matte finishes on all art because you don't get light glare when looking at them on the wall or photographing images in a room setting. I really appreciate you sharing this info on matte paper. Thank you!

    Your videos are awesome! I'd suggest a rotary cutter. I sew and paint and use it for both. If you get a good one it will definetly slice thru canvas. You will also need a cutting mat and a straight edge.

    • @Mfalconer
      @Mfalconer  4 года назад +5

      Thanks! And yes! I found a rotary cutter that rolls on it's own rail and surface. I just bought it so can't wait to show y'all in the next video!

  • @owleyes71
    @owleyes71 3 года назад +1

    You need a rotary trimmer/rolling trimmer for canvas. The action of the lever style with canvas not only doesn't cut well but often pulls at the print which means your trims aren't going to be straight. Also - dude....those prints look amazing!!! I want that printer hahaha one day! I wouldn't mind the cure time, just make sure you mention that in your listings and I think people would be totally okay with it.

    I bought a Canon Pro2000 about a year ago. I print on Canvas almost exclusively. I had technical issues with the first machine and had to return it. It made me printerless for 6 extra weeks. However, since I got it going, I am very happy with it. Seems to be reliable. That is my biggest hope. I want it to be problem free for the first 4 years..or at least 3. We shall see...

    I don't know this will help but it might work !if you didn't returned the cutter yet, Try it with paper masking tape!, cover with a masking tape on the cutting line (where you want to cut), so basically the blade is cutting the paper tape and canvas together. It worked with some other materials

    This was awesome! 😊 You are really inspiring. Im learning that nothing is a fail, just a lesson learned. This was one of the best insider tips I've seen. Beautiful. I think the Epson showed slightly brighter/richer in color on camera, but the Premier paper is definitely a close contender. You will still sell prints with Premier. Great quality art makes it worth it!

    I saw another artist that prints on Canvas and recommended the Rotatrim Professional series, because it slices across with a wheel like a quilters cutting rotary tool, that way it doesn't crunch it. Just repeating because I haven't done it myself, but fyi! hope it helps, love your videos and art, thank you for sharing:)

    I know it has been a long time since you uploaded this video, but did you tried the cutter again? When I used cutters (and it was to cut metal), I learned that I had to force it in my direction, and not just push down. That way the blade goes really close to the base and it makes the cut. If it leaves a small gap, it didn't cut properly.

    Good choice of media for your art!
    Few tips to you’re workflow.
    - don’t touch the paper with you’re bare hands, oil on you’re hands decrease the lifespan.
    - leave the printer on, the printer knows how long it is not in use.
    - use the ICC profiles from the manufacturer, for best result.
    - set-up the media according to the manufacturer advice.
    - use a roll-cutter for best results

    Word of advice, the more you use your printer the longer the printhead will last. Letting the printer sit will allow ink to dry in the print nozzles thus shortening the life of the printhead.

    Just a recommendation: test with a smaller size (non-roll) ... like the one you did your first printhead calibrations on. Some companies offer sample kits with many different paper types, and some are even labeled on the back so you can easily identify the ones you like, and you won't be stuck with yards of print media you don't want to use.

    Great insight Melissa, and brill that you have found a quality paper to use for your art work going forward. Would be great if you could include the details of the products you try/use with links in the video description (if possible). Would you mind, sharing with me the product details of the Premier Art canvas paper you use here as I'd like to give it whirl also? When you send these out in a shipping tube, do you know if the canvas falls on itself and potentially crease or is it strong and rigid enough to withstand that? Congrats on your continued success! To me the epson canvas the colours were more saturated and the overall image looked sharper than the premier canvas. Personally 48hrs is nothing, i would just state in your terms that printing/ packaging is 3 days before the print is actually shipped. If i was buying a print from someone i would expect a minimum of 7 days for it to arrive anyway.
