- (See also VIEWS of VENICE • VIEWS of VENICE ) There's nothing like the Grand Canal. For centuries this has been Venice's central artery and although the palaces lining it have lost much of their lustre this ride remains a unique and unforgettable experience. Come with us as we cruise the entire length of the famous waterway, from Piazzale Roma to San Marco (St Mark's Square) on Vaporetto Line 1 (30 July 2012)
Erratum - The Scalzi Bridge was built in 1934, NOT 1834 as stated at 1.43
A beautiful modern trip, and only in my dreams. However, I can take this trip in my mind while watching this film, and even go back in time to 1900 and take it with my special 1900 man!
The best, most informative tour I've had of the grand canal. thanks
woww... whata beauty.. you are very lucky
Well done cornishpastyman1, it brought back my own fond memories of a truly magnificent place. Thanks.

Eine schwimmende Stadt -
WENDIG in sonnigen Italien.
Es gab schon damals kulturelle
Expansion und durchaus
sehr stark entwickelnde
Wissenschaft, die ermöglicht hat
Projekte in die Tat umzusetzen ,
an die man nicht für möglich gehalten.
WENDIG - ist ein Beispiel dafür.
Die Gondeln Fahrt über Grand Canal
ist ein Muss.
ECCELLENTISSIMO 🇮🇪 SONO IN SECONDAAA QUELLO CHE ABBIAMO VISTO È SPETTACOLARE EEE OK🇮🇪 😮 👍💖 🤩 OOOLLLEEE OK OK.
Thank you for an "intellectual" trip down the Grand Canal. I particularly loved the inclusion of Wagner's home which I visted and highly recommend.
Thanks Cornishpastyman1. Very informative, well put together video, which helps greatly to identify some of the buildings along the Grand Canal. Cheers.
Those letters you put are really distracting the scenic view ..too large on the screen..it is the scene that were very interested..venice is very good enough to mention..disapttd..
Nice video :)
Nice video, Venice is not Italy
Clear, concise, well informed and beautifully shot.Thank you for giving me a good
idea of what to expect as I travel on the vaporetto routes.
As a solo traveller it has given me the confidence I needed to enjoy my trip.
A great insight into the history of the floating city, and a lovely tribute.
Thank you, Very nice video. Luděk
as an Italian that lives close to Venice, I want to say "Bravo..!"...
you did a great job, outstanding...!!
Thank you - very pleasant to watch as i am a wheelchair user I may never get to go
Thanks so much for this video. It makes it clearer about the vaporetto and all the stops.
How much is a one or two day pass on the vaporetto? How late do they run?
hugely helpful -- nicely done!
Hello…. Thank you for sharing this video. I love to wacht this. Can I ask you, what month was this taking ?I am planning to visit Venice by my selv. And how many days have to be there to see all the different places? It’s Seem the weather was good, while you where there.🤗😍🇮🇹😎

@@Cornishpastyman Thank you so much for responding to my msg.
Had you just one day there in Venice?
@@kathlene.arneth6320 No, 2 on either end of a cruise so not quite 2 in reality. For the 4 videos I made we just rushed around like headless chickens. We saw and enjoyed a lot but to 'do' it properly I think you'd need at least 3 and ideally 4 days. But you get what you're given 😃
Yay! All booked! Milan and Venice next month. We are travelling by train. This video is very helpful think you :-)
Thanks. The vap stops very frequently and you just hop on and off. We never seemed to wait more than 5-10 minutes at most. A 24 hour ticket for all the vaporetto routes costs €20, and as a single trip ticket is €7, this is a bargain.
What a beautiful city! And video. Does the boat make "stops" like a bus? I love the baroque architecture. So good to see Enid and James at the end-I hadn't seen pictures of her younger with him, nor any of James. I wouldn't have minded my own private gondola!! Did you see the Peggy Guggenheim collection? For some reason I thought most of that was in NYC. Thanks for making this.
Very special video !!! thanks a lot. I will be there at 18/06/2013. Very helpfull video.Bravo !!!. Greetings from Greece.
Nice video Tony... would you believe we were there just a few weeks before, staying at Lake Garda and returned to Venice for a day trip. hadn't changed much since our last visit 20 odd years ago.. a timeless City. Anyone visiting has to use those water busses.. great fun.

Great and breathless video of a breathtaking City - it all comes flooding back. And a stroke of genius to make it in memory of James and Enid - nice touch.
And greeting from Cornwall - I hope you enjoy Venice as much as I did, and I'm sure you will.
Nicely done quick tour. Thank you
Thanks for the info! I'm planning my trip now;-)
Sound editing very rough ....,. otherwise I liked it.
Agreed. I'd do it properly today but didn't back then !
Beautiful video, very informative and helpful for those of us who are first visitors to this wonderful city.
Have you been to San Zaccaria vaporetto as well? do you have videos ?
Thank you for your kind words. I'm afraid I don't have anything from that other vaporetto but I made 3 more videos from that visit. A link to the first, VIEWS OF VENICE is is this one's description and the links for those about DOGES PALACE and St MARK'S BASILICA can be found in those other descriptions.
Cornishpastyman1 Thank you very much. I'll watch them too !
