I think its wonderful that these two great female vocalist are going into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame together. I absolutely love both of them...I think it's fitting that they are going in together..cause for both of them it's long over due. I am sure the ever classy Ann Wilson will be thrilled and will acknowledge the great talent of Donna (who is no longer with us). I just couldn't imagine planet earth without either of their incredible voices !
Oh yes I agree, you should see them. They are so awesome, Energetic, ALIVE and Super Fun to watch. The music is just simply, hands down, incredible to say the very least!!! It's all that you would, or could, imagine and so much more!!! I've seen them twice...once in Vegas back in October, 2016 at the House of Blues in Las Vegas, Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino and another earlier time was in September of 2011 at the Gibson Amphitheatre, Universal Studios Hollywood in Los Angeles, California. I had the best time of my LIFE at this concert, however, both concerts were unreal and awesome!!!!
I remember this version from the adult contemporary station I listened to as a teenager but wasn't aware until recently that Donna Summer did it originally. Both versions are excellent, though I do think Donna's is slightly better. I only wish Ann and Donna had the chance to sing it together, that would have been awesome! Both versions deserved much better on the charts than what they achieved. Long live Ann (and Nancy too), and rest in peace, Donna.
Donna Summers version is pop envisioning a dance floor. Hearts version is sultry envisioning standing on a beach at sunset with a man standing behind you kissing your shoulder...... I prefer Hearts version..lol.
Sweet Dreams, Donna Summer. You are missed, and are celebrated. Rest In Peace, Sweet Lady. And Rest In Peace, Robin Gibb. We Shall Still Be Dancin' (yeah!). a contemplative 'ringo (who's workin' my dancin' shoes)
This song 🤩😍 received some air play from some Modern Rock and A. C. (Adult Contemporary) Radio stations.( it was a top 40 hit for Donna Summer). I love both versions. I adore how it ends so abruptly. Adorable. 💟
I can't help it, but I didn't know this was a Donna Summers cover.... I heard this version first. Ann, what a voice. I completely LOVE this version.....
Indeed, a gorgeous cover. One of the few cases that I prefer the cover than the original. The production of the song is a piece of art. Thanks for uploading it.
I am so happy to learn of this Donna Summer cover. I love Ann & Nancy Wilson and this version of "The Woman In Me" is really good. Thank you for posting this.
It'll take a lifetime to sunrise if u won't stay with me tonight, u don't have to tell me anything,- I can she can see everything in my eyes .!!!gorgeous deep sensual loving lyrics inspires me forward not backwards lol keep happy and enjoy heart classic singers
Ann recorded this song because she is a Donna Summer fan, as many female vocalist are ! And she admired her work and in particular this song. Donna was 8 months pregnant when she recorded her version, and found it difficult to sing. Although it doesn't translate to her recording. I think Ann does the song justice, it is a very worthy version of the song. Most, including Ann herself, feel that Donna's recording is the quintessential version.
Wow, I lost my CD, forgot how much I loved this song! I didn't even know it was a cover of Donna Summer's. I don't think I would like Donna's version, cause I love Ann's voice so much, my favorite female singer...thanks for posting this!
Why is it so difficult to find a woman who'll BE this song.....appreciative of her good, hard working man that finds it so easy to express these feelings of desire for her
Actually, it's kinda hard to tell them apart? But, that's because Ann does everything justice simply cuz she CAN! But Donna's quite a Queen as well ;) Luv to luv ya Baby!!!
Dancing close feeling restless It's a slow and sultry night It'll take a lifetime till sunrise if you won't stay with me tonight Feel your breath caress my shoulder as your heart reads my mind You don't have to tell me anything I can see everything in your eyes It's so easy with you I don't need an excuse to be the woman in me It's so hard to believe that I'm feeling so free to be the woman in me Baby there's so much no man has ever touched of the woman in me I might be trembling but I'm not scared Just my desire breaking free I've never had a chance like this before to unlock all the doors to be the woman in me It's so easy with you I don't need an excuse to be the woman in me It's so hard to believe that I'm feeling so free to be the woman in me Baby there's so much no man has even touched of the woman in me Like the dark side of the full moon I've never shown what I'm showing to you It's so easy with you I don't need an excuse to be the woman in me It's so hard to believe that I'm feeling so free to be the woman in me
This was mine and my husband's first dance song at our wedding. So damn sensual. Wanted to drag him off the dance floor and take him right then and there lol.
My opinion: both performances are awesome. Ann Wilson and Donna Summer have incredible voices, unique of their kind. But, the production of the Heart version is much better. I know Summer's version was produced by the king Quincy Jones, but the percussion here is much more sensual.
@babyj1996 After the 1990 BRIGADE tour, Ann & Nancy stayed in Seattle & formed The Lovemongers, their little hootenanny side-band that shied away from most Heart material, and Ann adopted Marie, a baby girl, so now she became a real rock mama. :-) I think Mark was living in Los Angeles. Their relationship was likely over by then. I don't know if he'd left Heart on his own, or if he was not asked to rejoin them, by the time they'd reconvened to do the DWO album. More to come...
I think this song would have done better if released in 1987 when Heart were hitting it big with power ballads. Donna Summers version was actually 10-15 years too early. Obviously some changes would be made to fit the tones but the 90s would of treated Donnas version better. I will say that this has a feel that would fit with Dam I wish I was your lover.
Bassist Schuyler Deale had previously worked w/DWO co-producers John Purdell & Duane Baron on Foreigner's '92 compo, THE VERY BEST...AND BEYOND. They probably asked Deale to provide bass (there's pics of them in the liner notes), while DB sang backup & JP played keyboards. Denny Carmassi played drums on the record, but did not tour with them, so Ann, Nancy & Howard travelled with a different rhythm section for the DWO tour. DWO was also Howard Leese's last studio album w/Heart. LATAH! 'ringo
"Sensual" percussion. Carmassi's good, ain't he? :-) What I love are Nancy's supple & fluid guitar lines. Howard Leese's bass (especially towards the end) is very sexy. Plus I give it up for the beautiful keyboards, played by the late John Trudell (God rest his soul). All that, plus Ann Wilson = GORGEOUS! Don't get me wrong; nobody can touch Quincy Jones as a producer. I like Donna's original, but once I heard Heart's version, the Wilsons immediately won my affection. 'ringo
P. S.: Fun Trivia - Keyboardist/Producer John Purdell (CORRECTION to my above note) ...along with co-producer Duane Baron (who also sang BVocals on DWO) also worked with allbums for Ozzy Osbourne & Foreigner. And Denny Carmassi later went on to play with Foreigner. LATAH AGAIN! 'ringo
@Forestski I took this info directly from the DESIRE WALKS ON liner notes - Acoustic & Electric Guitars, background vocals, bass (The Woman In Me): Howard Leese. 'ringo

Ann's voice is crystal clear and so so strong.
Yes good version of a Donna Summer release .Heart is a great duo and have made many good songs over the years. Like it very much .
Both Heart and Donna Summer are the great singers in decade
I think its wonderful that these two great female vocalist are going into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame together. I absolutely love both of them...I think it's fitting that they are going in together..cause for both of them it's long over due. I am sure the ever classy Ann Wilson will be thrilled and will acknowledge the great talent of Donna (who is no longer with us). I just couldn't imagine planet earth without either of their incredible voices !
Donna Summer recorded it. It was released as a single {💙made the Top 40} and video.
I will have to get a concert ticket to see this fine band
Oh yes I agree, you should see them. They are so awesome, Energetic, ALIVE and Super Fun to watch. The music is just simply, hands down, incredible to say the very least!!! Never even knew abt Donna Summers version but i already grew up with this one and i cant hear any other voice but Ann Wilson.😊
Her voice is unreal.
I remember this version from the adult contemporary station I listened to as a teenager but wasn't aware until recently that Donna Summer did it originally. @@Trixiegirl88 both versions are great!! PERIOD!! An awesome song sung by two great vocalist!!
Powerful soft rock ballad.💟 😻 So sensual, romantic and lovely. 🌹☀️ 🌷. Bravo, bravissimo.
Beautifully sang, enchanting tempo.💚💙⭐🌟
Sweet Dreams, Donna Summer.
You are missed, and are celebrated. Rest In Peace, Sweet Lady.
And Rest In Peace, Robin Gibb. We Shall Still Be Dancin' (yeah!).

This song 🤩😍 received some air play from some Modern Rock and A. C. (Adult Contemporary) Radio stations.( it was a top 40 hit for Donna Summer). I love both versions. I adore how it ends so abruptly. Adorable. 💟
This is such a great song, that it will shine bright by whoever covers it...Simply awesome.
I can't help it, but I didn't know this was a Donna Summers cover.... I heard this version first. Ann, what a voice. I completely LOVE this version.....
I prefer Donna's version but this is one of the better remakes ever! Ann sounds so Chill here.
Indeed, a gorgeous cover. One of the few cases that I prefer the cover than the original. The production of the song is a piece of art. Thanks for uploading it.
They made a good song even better. If there is a better make-out song, I have not heard it.
Brian Engleman it’s Zeppelin song.❤️

Love this version...give me chills everytime ♡
I am so happy to learn of this Donna Summer cover. I love Ann & Nancy Wilson and this version of "The Woman In Me" is really good. Thank you for posting this.
Wow i love their version & Donna Summers - shows truly how a great song can be done with different amazing singers.
Love You Ann and Nancy Wilson my Favorite Group
Desire Walks On is one on my fav Heart albums.
Just listen to Donna's version...it you really give the whole song a chance...it really is better...but this is really a wonderful cover!
It'll take a lifetime to sunrise if u won't stay with me tonight, u don't have to tell me anything,- I can she can see everything in my eyes .!!!gorgeous deep sensual loving lyrics inspires me forward not backwards lol keep happy and enjoy heart classic singers
donna summer does ok in the song but heart really hits the feeling better for me personally
Ann recorded this song because she is a Donna Summer fan, as many female vocalist are ! And she admired her work and in particular this song. The sexiest song by Heart
Beautiful, beautiful song
Ann Wilson is one of my favorite singers - up there with Ronnie James Dio (late), and Rob Halford from Judas Priest,
Wow, I lost my CD, forgot how much I loved this song! I didn't even know it was a cover of Donna Summer's. I don't think I would like Donna's version, cause I love Ann's voice so much, my favorite female singer...thanks for posting this!
I live Ann/❤️ big time!! But have to say Donna’s version is pretty good too!! Goes to show that a song with great lyrics can be sung by all!!!
Why is it so difficult to find a woman who'll BE this song.....appreciative of her good, hard working man that finds it so easy to express these feelings of desire for her
So great!!
Original song is from Donna Summer, she composed. This is a great version too!!! Love both!!!!!
Heard this version before Donna summer's . Loved this as the original. Both versions great though(love Donna summer's music too). 2019 strong 💪
Classic lyrics - great band
Actually, it's kinda hard to tell them apart? But, that's because Ann does everything justice simply cuz she CAN! But Donna's quite a Queen as well ;) Luv to luv ya Baby!!!
This album should've been a bigger hit.
Beautiful showcase of Ann's vocals just not a radio airplay song in 1993.
exquisita version y majestuoso sonido !!!!!!.
Beautiful.
This song is the bomb 💣 🎉😊
Dancing close feeling restless
It's a slow and sultry night
It'll take a lifetime till sunrise if you won't stay with me tonight
Feel your breath caress my shoulder as your heart reads my mind
You don't have to tell me anything
I can see everything in your eyes
It's so easy with you
I don't need an excuse to be the woman in me
It's so hard to believe that I'm feeling so free to be the woman in me
Baby there's so much no man has ever touched of the woman in me
I might be trembling but I'm not scared
Just my desire breaking free
I've never had a chance like this before to unlock all the doors to be the woman in me
It's so easy with you I don't need an excuse to be the woman in me
It's so hard to believe that I'm feeling so free to be the woman in me
Baby there's so much no man has even touched of the woman in me
Like the dark side of the full moon
I've never shown what I'm showing to you
It's so easy with you I don't need an excuse to be the woman in me
It's so hard to believe that I'm feeling so free to be the woman in me
@rebelzgrl
I once heard Donna say she would have loved to be a rock singer as well. I'm sure these two artist greatly admired each other.
Donna actually won a Grammy for Best Rock Vocal (Female) for Hot Stuff.
THE WOMAN IN ME SONG SO GREAT BY HEART !!!
Powerful soft rock balad.
Did not makeup the Hot 100 but it is a magnificent song.
(Donna Summer 's {original} version made the Top40).
better than the original. I like the keyboard sound and the unique voice

One of the few cases that the remake (Heart version) is much better than the original (Donna Summer version).
i have been looking for this song FOREVER ...i need a booty now!!
Due credit to Ms Summer, but I much prefer Ann's voice - it's a force of nature.
