It was fun making but it took all week to edit around work and everything else going on lol😆 Let me know if you have any questions and I'll try to help 👍🇺🇸👊
FMJ can have higher pressure because it's harder than lead and harder to squeeze down the barrel. If it happens to be seated in a way that there is less case capacity than an equal weight projectile, that could also increase pressures. I wasn't at a max load here, and none of them were seated that much deeper than another, so I wasn't too worried about any of that. Thanks.
Great dude, indeed! Thanks for watching👍 I'm just sharing my weekly(ish) tests and range trips, and hopefully helping out a few of you guys along the way. I had a ton of questions when I started out, and not all of them were easy to get answers for.👊🇺🇸
I cast the Lee 358-125-RF bullet and powder coat them for my 38 Spl/357 loads by the thousands. They cast at .359" and I pass them thru a Lee .358" Resize Kit. For 9mm I take that same .359" powder coated bullet and push them thru a Lee .356" Resize Kit. They come out perfectly round and ready to load. I load 5gr of Unique powder or 5.5gr of Power Pistol and they work just great loaded to just under the crimp groove. In my Ruger PCC they will turn up over 1400fps and make a great small game round.
Nice! Try the 125gr at 358 in 9mm. Mine shoot really well and I only size to 358 so I don't have to have two separate piles of the same bullet to keep track of 👌🇺🇸👊
I haven't picked out my first 9mm mold yet, but I'm rootin' for the 358 RF, I like the versatility of using it in .38's as well as 9mm. I guess we'll see.
I’ve already watched this before but I wanted to rewatch to get some more insight on the Lee 125 RF and 124 gr TL. Btw for sizing I’ve tried.356, .357, and .358 and I’ve found.357 works the best for me. Thanks for the info!
I've been slinging the 356-125-2R w/ Red Dot for years. Tried the 356-120-TC and didn't really like it! Just got the 358-105-SWC and size to .356! Awesome plinker and always wanted a semi wadcutter for 9mm! I still need to try 358-125-RF it looks perfect for 9mm & 357sig.
That's awesome, I have been enjoying the 105 swc, too. What kind of Red Dot loads are you using? I have some of that I need to use to. Thanks and happy new year 👍🇺🇲🤘
@DummyRound I use Red Dot for everything except 147gr basically. But 4.0gr with 105, 115 & 125gr lead is perfect! Even 3.5 will cycle all my 9mm's using Lee 356-125-2R
I was running those with 5.3gr if unique, before that I was running them at 5.6 and I maxed out at 5.8, at 1.10ish. the boolits were running around .357 unsized and pc'ed, they worked well at the higher pressures with no leading whatsoever. Now I run them sized to .356 and dropped down to 5.0, I'm low on smol pp but have enough smol rifle to make through a couple of apocalypses, so I wanted more flexibility in being able to run different primers. I haven't chronographed the the srp loads but all functioned flawlessly except the srm primers, where 2 out of 5 needed to be hit twice. Edit: those loads are only safe'ish in my pistol, don't use load data from randos in the comments section
👍 it's funny Alliant's data only has a pissing hot load for +p Gold Dots. I didn't want to go that hot, and Hornady topped out at only 5.0gr max. The 124TLTC worked great last time at 4.9 so I'm hoping these also work just as well. Thanks again for supplying some freedom seeds!
@@DummyRound cci400 and Winchester srp appear good to go, now that was only 10 rounds but I am going to run the 400's snd winny to save my smol pp, I actually stripped the sprue plate screw on that mold so I need to fix it, I'm going to try some NOE hollow points when they become available too

It's a great press and I've had no issues with it. Lots of people take the drive bar out if their Lee turrets so they can turn it either way or like you said, manually advance it and pay more attention. Thanks 🇺🇸👍👊
I've had the Lee TL356-124-2R 2-cavity mold since 2002. It's been my standard cast bullet. Last year I picked up the Lee 358-125-RF 6-cavity mold, and really enjoy the dual use in 38/357 and 9mm. I've shot the 356-124-TC that were given to me, but haven't bought the mold yet. All of them shoot well for me. My 9mm carbine (plus my Henry 357 rifle) really like the 358-125-RF!
So far the 358125s I started with have been great, but I like trying new things and people are kind enough to let me try some of their things. The 124TC shot awesome last time I took it out with Unique. I'll probably end up with all of the molds at some point 😉👊
I have not tried them in a 357 or 38 as they are too small diameter. Maybe a few extra applications of the powder coat could add .001-2" and then try to size 358, or leave as is? I would rather size a larger diameter down than try to grow a smaller bullet.
Great video brother ! Love the humor ! Hope those shoot good for you, i have the lee 124 tc tl mold and had problems with leading using a slight lesser charge of unique.
@@DummyRound that is probably what it was, it was from back in the harbor freight red days, have since switched to eastwood, thanks and have a great weekend!

I agree, there are far better powders for almost any application, especially this one. Unique is very dirty, but I haven't had any issues with leading, so long as I've properly powde coated my boolits. It was also available at the time, so I have a bit of it on hand to use up. Thanks 👍🇺🇲🤠
This is a very good, detailed and comprehensive video, and your sense of humor just adds that little touch that sets your videos apart from average youtube "content" (hopefully the censorship freaks don't cut you from our feed). I quite like the idea of a mold used for both 38/357 and 9mm, how did your RNFP do as for accuracy ? Do you know if there is a mold in this (.358) size in the TC shape ? That would make a nice bullet for a lever gun and revolver/semi-auto combo with 125 to 150gr weight range. Also would test that in Zinc in case of a Lead shortage/ban...
Thanks for the comment. The 358125 are as accurate as I can shoot them in 9mm. If your gun likes, you can even leave them at 358 and not have two different sizes to keep separated. I had one gun that doesn't like the fatter diameter so I keep them divided up as such. As far as a TC style mold, I haven't seen one in 358, but I'm sure it exists somewhere or could be made. I do have a 358-150 Round Nose from Lee. That should be safe in a lever gun and you should be able to get them to run in a 9mm. I usually try to lock the seating stem unless I'm changing bullets frequently. As far as the primers, the Dillon tube holds almost 150, so I was just topping it off to do the 200 total rounds..... maybe.. idk, this video is 2 years old now. It's been a while 🤣
@@DummyRound It's no big deal, it just looked like you put in 100 primers, loaded 50 bullets, and ran out. I was curious if I missed something. I looked into the lipstick bullets, but with all the extra work involved to coat them, and already having 7 lubesizers, I don't think I'll take the plunge. I didn't look yet to see if you followed up with a shooting test. I was interested in your video as I've been trying to find a cast bullet mold that will copy of the Hornady 125 gr HAP bullet which shoots 1" groups at 25 yds in my handgun.

@@DummyRound drop fine, I usually PC then size and up til now, no tumble issues with other cast boolitts so I opened up the sizer a thou so I think wrre gonna be looking good if not I'll try your suggestion of extra coat after sizing 👍👍
I've never bought lead bullets, just made my own. You need to remove any wax or lubes before powder coating, or it won't stick. It would just melt and run off if you tried baking it over a traditional lube👍
If you're trying to coat old bullets, you'll need to wash the old lube off first. People use acetone or diesel or pretty much anything that can remove wax/oil/whatever your lube was. Let em soak and rinse off with water. Make sure it is completely dry and begin PC 🤘
It is powder coating, rather than a traditional lube like wax, alox, or any of the others. You toss them in a plastic container like Tupperware or something similar. The static helps the PC bond to the lead, and once baked at 400 for about 20 minutes, it flows out and covers the surface before hardening into a "jacket". I've loaded up to 2k fps so any pistol rounds and lots of reduced rifle loads are totally fine with no leading in your barrel. 👊🇺🇸👍

Unfortunately I don't get to go to the range every time I load something up, so I often have to do two parts. That said, there is a range report from this video that has the results you're looking for. Thanks for watching, be it in disappointment.
Why do you crimp 9mm bullets? I've been reloading 9mm since the early 90's and I've never put a crimp on them. Look at 9mm factory ammo. They're not crimped either.
Just a light crimp to take out any excess flare. I've never heard of not crimping 9mm. But, if it works for you and you don't need to do it, then keep on keeping on.
Some of their seating dies have a built in crimp, and some have an additional carbide ring at the bottom of the die that will uniform the case before it reaches the seating stem. Maybe?

I was interested in your video as I've been trying to find a cast bullet mold that will copy of the Hornady 125 gr HAP bullet which shoots 1" groups at 25 yds in my handgun.
My favorite from this video is the 125 truncated cone
You did a great job thank you
Thanks brother! 👊🇺🇸👍
We'll maybe when you got your 550 press you should have splurged a little more and got the Dillon tactical flip tray that's how I stay in tactical control with all my primers........ :)~
Actually lol'd at that 😂 I bet the Dillon Flip Tray is awesome... I just have a lot of other things on the list to get before another flippy tray haha. Thanks brother 👍👊🇺🇸
Great video.
Thank you👊🇺🇸👍
What was the app you used for the price break down on the reload costs
Reloading Assistant, it got a visual update since then play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.polycompsol.reloadingassistant
Only use middle finger for stuff that is more important than just primers.
Fair enough 👍🇺🇲
How many rounds have to be reloaded to cover the cost of the press, dies, etc. Are you really saving money?
Like the video I still like using my single stage press
I still quite enjoy my single stage, as well!
I also have 2 of those molds the 124gr. TC and the 124gr RN#2 both for 9mm
Very nice, which do you prefer?
Regarding @20:30, if I miss one my roll around stool will find, crush and ignite it. Followed by my wife yelling "Are you OK?!?"
😳😂
I struggling with the TLTC Lee but I think it's a size issue...TWSS
Are they dropping too small for you? Maybe a second coat of PC to thicken it a bit?
@@DummyRound drop fine, I usually PC then size and up til now, no tumble issues with other cast boolitts so I opened up the sizer a thou so I think wrre gonna be looking good if not I'll try your suggestion of extra coat after sizing 👍👍
@@mckwilly I always do 2 coats, for whatever reason, but the TLTC was smaller than the other two at .3555. They shot fine last time, so who knows!
Adjusting the temperature on your lead pouring pot will affect the drop diameter of your bullets. Somewhere between 700° and 750° should be fine.
Did you lube the brass due to you sizing first?
Generally, for most pistol cases, you do not require lube for sizing. Rifle is a different story, especially bottle necked cartridges.
You ever powder coat lead bullets that you bought with lube in the lube ring? If so, how do you remove the lube and does it work?
I've never bought lead bullets, just made my own. You need to remove any wax or lubes before powder coating, or it won't stick. It would just melt and run off if you tried baking it over a traditional lube👍
@@DummyRound thx!
If you're trying to coat old bullets, you'll need to wash the old lube off first. People use acetone or diesel or pretty much anything that can remove wax/oil/whatever your lube was. Let em soak and rinse off with water. Make sure it is completely dry and begin PC 🤘
@DummyRound
Gonna give 'er a go! Thanks, D.R. 👍🏿
How'd it go?
I keep the flip tray on the desk when I do the wiggle. Took me 25 lost primers to figure it out
I've lost my fair share🤣
So how are you coloring them?
That would be with the magic of powder coating: ruclips.net/video/--oitZlUKW4/видео.html
I almost understand half of it hahahahaha
Gotta start somewhere brother! Let me know if you ever need any help 👊🇺🇸👍
What app or website did you use to find cost per round???
I was using the free version of "Reloading Assistant". It also has tons of load data available offline. Hope that helps, thanks for watching 👍🇺🇸👊
Also, what is the coating on the lead heads?
It is powder coating, rather than a traditional lube like wax, alox, or any of the others. You toss them in a plastic container like Tupperware or something similar. The static helps the PC bond to the lead, and once baked at 400 for about 20 minutes, it flows out and covers the surface before hardening into a "jacket". I've loaded up to 2k fps so any pistol rounds and lots of reduced rifle loads are totally fine with no leading in your barrel. 👊🇺🇸👍
2x is normal listening speed. You’re welcome
Yeah, I watch pretty much everything at 1.5x+. Thanks for watching👍
@@DummyRound some people do require longer absorption times. You do explain every detail which can/does slow the conversation. And having some knowledge as a tinkerer, it will not take as much time to absorb info. Your tech is perfect for me at 1.75-2.0. Great videos
Good points. I appreciate it 👌
Have you tried the .358 as is not sizing to .356 ?
I tried making a dummy round but it wouldn't plunk at .358". They work great in 38spl/357mag, but they were designed for that... thanks for the comment🇺🇸👍👊
Reason I ask is, when I casted and coated then sized to .356 I had a lot of tumbling. Honed out the sizer to .358 and it went away, and quite accurate.
Very interesting. I had pretty good accuracy sized to .356, but have since gotten actual 9mm molds and have been using those for their intended purpose.
What is the price breakdown app that you have? Thanks
Reloading Assistant
@@DummyRound It looks like they haven't updated it in a while. Says it's mot available for my version of android. :(
That sucks. I just got an S23 Ultra and it works. Try this link if it doesn't get blocked play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.polycompsol.reloadingassistant
@@DummyRound Not same comment. "This app isn't available for you device because it was made for an older version of android". I think i'm old running a Note 9. :)
I was on a Note 9 until about a week ago so that's weird as hell
😱 noooo.!!! Not the primers!! 🤦🏻♂️😂
Got em all luckily😉
AHAA! I see you got some of this so called " SMALL PISTOL PRIMERS " very suspicious now days !
I have all the Small PPs.
I spent 30 minutes waiting for the accuracy test. Disappointed ☹️
Unfortunately I don't get to go to the range every time I load something up, so I often have to do two parts. That said, there is a range report from this video that has the results you're looking for. Thanks for watching, be it in disappointment.
Range report ruclips.net/video/55v5BtIciXI/видео.html
Why do you crimp 9mm bullets? I've been reloading 9mm since the early 90's and I've never put a crimp on them. Look at 9mm factory ammo. They're not crimped either.
Just a light crimp to take out any excess flare. I've never heard of not crimping 9mm. But, if it works for you and you don't need to do it, then keep on keeping on.
@@DummyRound maybe my Lee bullet seater applies a crimp. I just dont notice?
Some of their seating dies have a built in crimp, and some have an additional carbide ring at the bottom of the die that will uniform the case before it reaches the seating stem. Maybe?
9 mm rounds should be taper crimped…Not roll crimped. That’s because the cartridge chambers on the case mouth.
Yessir!
Good channel. Do you know this God who you curse who would save your soul if you turn to him. He is love and seeks to save those who are lost in the quicksand of sin (the transgressing of God’s law). No reason to curse God for our human failures. Further, your vid does a good job of reload instruction.
I've never been a particularly religious person, but the older I get, the more I feel that there is something greater than us that is in control. Thanks for watching👍🇺🇲
Where’s the shoot out? Wtf!?
If you watched to the end there was a range report that pops up to click through to, ruclips.net/video/55v5BtIciXI/видео.html
