- Seminal punk and Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Marky Ramone shows you his secrets to drumming, such as how to set up your kit, how to warm up and pace yourself, and most of all - how to make it look easy. He breaks down every punk beat, groove, and fill for the beginner and pro alike, in a very clear and easily understood way. From stick and grip choice, Marky goes on to cover: differences between rock and punk drumming; fast “punk” eighth notes; beats, fills, and grooves; alternate time signatures; and more!

The title says it all - laying down drumming basics for beginners. To learn and internalize demonstrated elements, techniques, beats and tips beginner will be busy at least for 6 to 12 months, and he would still be a beginner but in an upper range. This is very good, no BS instructional video.
Mark can do all the flashy stuff. But the flashy drummers can’t do what he did with the Ramones. They can not keep up. He is a living legend.
Drummers who can play blast beats can do anything he does
@papai-cf3kw for two hours a night for close on 20 years. Mark was a vital component of an awesome machine that was the Ramones. The greatest live band I ever saw and heard.
I need this when I was teaching myself drums nearly 25 years ago. And Marky's NYC accent is a nice bonus!
With Marky you can't go wrong!
I took up drums again - after 25 years... because of 1 song that Marky played on. I want to do that !!
Just got some drums at 59 and this helped a lot.
God Bless You Marky ❤❤❤
New punk rockers must learn
He is a tremendous in concert. His band is awesome. Sorry Ritchie and CJ, but Marky's X-Mas show is the closest to Ramones perfection.
Richie is a great great drummer but yes I love Markys shows
Wasnt putting anyone down. Just saw Ritchie's band a few months ago. Love Ritchie and CJ. But Marky puts on the best Ramones show
Nice one. Marky dedicating his time to, pass on his knowledge and technique. When I first saw The Ramones, Richie, was on the drums and they were brilliant live. Then, just like that, Marky was back. Then Dee gone and then CJ comes in. Great, tuitional video.
Loved it!
He is a machine
Thanks for sharing this...
excelent..thank you!
The fill at 44:49 is really nice.
Great Marky
Just started learning drums, this is going to help alot.
Mind Blown--that's all I can say----WOW

@@hansapilslecker graciaaaaaaas!!!!!!!!!! amigos
Awesome!!
great drummer, very good hard rock drummer if you listen to Dust(pre-Ramones band)
yes - Dust was way more progressive.
This was way better and more important than all those pretentious tech drummers from those 80s90s videos were didn’t teach you anything they just showed off and talked a lot.remember they used to cost like 60$ too..yeah I fell asleep to thebozzio drum VHS so many times I never got through the whole thing even until today
I have the Bozzio --now I only watch the Marky-io---I am just an 80's chick -so that's what I had.
I remember the cassette tapes for guitar in the 80s😂
Seems easy! But it ain't! Such an underrated drummer!
Yes Sensei
Awsome
I bought this on DVD in 2016 or 2017 when I started playing again as an adult.
You are so a good teacher. I start to follow lessons in drum in 2019 one hour a week. I want to play in your style Punkrock. ( Ramones Style ) Your explenation is so good. Thank you.
UNIQUE
Surprised his wig doesn't slip off playing those 16th notes 🤣
❤marc

Subtitulo in spanish plis
"Dust."
not exactly the Gary Chester vibe but still cool for what it is.
Sottotitoli in italiano per favore
now there italian subtitles too!
A punk rock drummer using trad grip is the best thing ever
I’m pretty sure Marky doesn’t know what he’s talking about. But, with that Queens accent, and that wig...who cares!!! “Because it fills in gaps!!” Legendary...
I'm pretty sure he does. You mean to tell me a man up in age and experienced in the art of drumming doesn't know anything yet? Gtfo.
U don't know what you are talking about. Playing with your fingers is not that easy at all. When talking about the traditional grip with those jazz grooves or the marching band fills. Don't be so ignorant
The wig doesn't even move.
Beacause is not a wig for beginners
@@ledu3142 bingo
That’s a wig?!!?
@@bl00df4rt of course yes
@@brenormuniz lies! It’s all lies!
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
I like playing drums, but I don't like living near drummers.
Wigman sell-out Marky Ramone.. Blaming Richie and CJ they were not around during the early NYC punkscene..
Being not an original Ramone himself, he can only talk about the Blank generation album.. If he can't take people serious because they were not around in the early days, means he can't take most of the Ramones fans serious too.. A lot of us were also not around by then.. I've seen them live like 6 times, and my favourite line-up was with Richie and DeeDee, but CJ did a great job too.. Mark gave us nice video footage, where I thank him for.. But he's not more of a Ramone than Richie or CJ are..
Pretty sure Richie was around
