- There are three main types of work globally:
1. Reproductive work: This includes tasks within the family, such as cooking, cleaning, childcare, and caring for elderly family members.
2. Productive work: This refers to work outside the family that brings in income.
3. Community work: This involves activities within the community that aren't directly related to productive or reproductive tasks.
Housework and caregiving are essential yet often overlooked. Women have traditionally taken on these responsibilities without receiving the recognition, value, respect, or pay they deserve. Despite women performing about 70% of all work worldwide, they receive only around 10% of the world's total economic income. This economic disparity is due to the undervaluation of reproductive work, typically carried out by women, in economic assessments. Today, women work in various roles, but not all are financially independent. In an insightful video, Dr. Mary Matilda sheds light on this inequality and offers suggestions on how to accurately account for women's work. Achieving financial independence contributes to women feeling more secure and respected, regardless of their socio-economic background. This empowerment has positive effects, benefiting not only women but also their families, society, and the country as a whole.

I totally agree with your valuable message. Many years ago when I started working with people from different cultures, it was very hard for me to accept them. One of my Filipino friends told me her mom is helping her with cooking and baby sitting. She gives her mom some payment every week. Once a week her mom goes out for shopping and uses her own money and feels proud. They both are living happily. I started thinking about it and realized that what a great idea. The outcome is good and that’s what we need .❤

വളരെ നല്ലൊരു കാര്യമാണ് ടീച്ചർ പറഞ്ഞത്. ഓരോ കാര്യത്തിനും ഭർത്താവിനോടും മക്കളോടും പൈസ ആവശ്യപ്പെടാൻ കുറച്ചു ബുദ്ധിമുട്ട് തന്നെയാണ്. ഞാനും ജോലിയിൽ നിന്ന് റിട്ടയർ ചെയ്ത ഒരാളാണ്. സ്ത്രീകളോട്, ഇവരാണല്ലോ വീട്ടിലെ കാര്യങ്ങളൊക്കെ ചെയ്യുന്നത് എന്നുള്ള നല്ല പെരുമാറ്റം എങ്കിലും ഉണ്ടായാൽ നന്നായിരുന്നു.

എന്നെ പോലെ കുട്ടി ആയി കഴിയുമ്പോൾ job നിർത്തുന്ന പലരുടെയും അവസ്ഥ.സ്വന്തമായി പണം ചിലവാക്കികൊണ്ടിരുന്ന ഒരാൾ പെട്ടന്നു മറ്റൊരാളെ depend ചെയേണ്ടിവരുമ്പോൾ ഉണ്ടാകുന്ന ബുദ്ധിമുട്ട് വളരെ വലുതാണ്.. കണ്ടറിഞ്ഞു ചെയ്യും എന്ന് കരുതി ആദ്യമൊക്കെ. പിന്നെ പരിഭവം കാണിച്ചു, പിന്നെ പറഞ്ഞിട്ടേ കാര്യമുള്ളൂ എന്നു മനസിലാക്കിയപോ ചോദിച്ചു തുടങ്ങി. പുറമെ നോക്കുമ്പോൾ അവർ നമുക്ക് എല്ലാം ചെയ്തു തരുന്നുണ്ട് എന്നു തോന്നും. എന്നാലും ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്ന സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യം അത്രക് കിട്ടില്ല. പിന്നെ വീട്ടിലെ കാര്യങ്ങൾ പെണ്ണുങ്ങളുടെ മാത്രം കുത്തകയാണെന്നു ചിന്തിക്കുന്ന ഭർത്താക്കന്മാരാണ് വലിയ പരാജയം. അവരുടെ റീലാക്സിയേഷൻ time ആണ് വീട്ടിൽ എത്തി കഴിഞ്ഞാൽ. എന്നിട്ട് ഒരു ഡയലോഗ്, നിനക്കെപ്പോഴും പണിയോട് പണി..ഇപ്പോ ഞാനും മാറി തുടങ്ങി... അതിനു കാരണമായതു ടീച്ചറുടെ വാക്കുകളും പ്രചോതനവുമാണ്.. മാറി ചിന്തിച്ചു തുടങ്ങിയപോ മാറ്റങ്ങൾ കണ്ടു തുടങ്ങി 😂🤭😊 thankyou so much mam...

Teacher I am malayalee by birth but living in tamilnadu for 40 years.your subject very true,more than salary ,little appreciation .for house wife needed. Second thing I want to tell that in tamilnadu the govt giving ladies 1000 rs ,90 percent of ladies getting this money,by 15 th ,after we get a whatsup call from govt that to spent this money for useful things.also no town bus travel free for ladies. എന്റെ hus ,father in law ക്കു തന്നെ ആണ് ചെലവ് നുള്ള പണം അയച്ചു കൊടുക്കുന്നത്. കിട്ടാവുന്നതിൽ വെച്ചു ഏറ്റവും low cost items വാങ്ങി വീട്ടിലെ കാര്യം നടത്തും. മരുമകൾക്ക് നല്ല food പോലും ഇല്ല. എന്നാൽ മോള് വന്നാൽ rich ഫുഡ്. നമ്മൾ ആവശ്യത്തിനു അയാളോട് ഇരക്കണം. ഇപ്പൊ അയാള് rich ആയി. പണത്തിന്റെ അഹന്തയും.aanmakkal ആവശ്യത്തിനു മാത്രം പണം അച്ഛനമ്മമാർക്ക് കൊടുക്കുക.
മാഡം പറഞ്ഞത് ശരിയാണ്. ഒരിക്കൽ ഒരു വീട്ടിൽ ചെന്നപ്പോൾ അവിടെ house driver നെ കൂടാതെ നാല് ജോലിക്കാർ. ഒരാൾ കുട്ടികളെ നോക്കാൻ, മറ്റൊരാൾ ക്ലീനിങ് ന്, വേറൊരാൾ കുക്കിംഗ്‌ ന്, ഇനിയുമുള്ള ഒരാൾ വാഷിംഗ്‌ ന് (തുണികൾ കഴുകുക, ഉണക്കി മടക്കി അലമാരയിൽ വെക്കുക ). ഒരാൾക്ക് 1700 റിയാൽ വീതം സാലറി. അന്ന് ആ വീട്ടിൽ നിന്നും ഇറങ്ങുമ്പോൾ ഞാൻ എന്നോട് തന്നെ പറഞ്ഞു "അമ്പട ഞാനേ"
