Feathery Wings. Absolutely. That song literally saved my life. It came on pandora right as I was about to... do something I wouldn't be able to regret. That song means a lot to me.
Voltaire you are an inspiration to me. No really. When I decided to enter a short story competition, it was your music that made all the difference. I didn't have any idea what to write. They wanted entries under 1500 words, much shorter than I was used to using to make anything good. Then The Night came on and I suddenly had my story. That was a year ago and I still think that tiny piece is one of the best things I've ever written. Thank you for that. I need a guitar now. Love this song.
I would dearly love to learn Anniversary and possibly play it for someone if I ever get married. Also, Feathery Wings is one of my absolute favorites of yours that makes me tear up every time I hear or sing it.
I would LOVE to see you break down "Happy Song" or maybe "The Man Upstairs", "All The Way Down" would be another great one! Honestly though, I just can't wait until the next one, whatever it is.
I got here from "The Dirtiest Song That Ain't", where I was happy to find that in reply to one of the comments you have posted the chords. And I would very much like to learn "The Dirtiest Song That Ain't". I am having some difficulty working out how the chords change there. And an argument for doing it is - it uses the same chords, so whoever learned Ravens Land will already know the chords ; )
I WOULD say 'The Night' although you seem to be going in order of easyness, and you teaching us any songs is way better than none, so keep doing what'cha do.
Yay, a second video! I have a habit of trying to guess the chords in songs and I thought something was wrong with my ears because I could only make out two different chords in "Ex-Lover's Lover" and three in "Raven's Land"...
Well, my friend, Josh Calderon, just sent me this link knowing I play guitar. What an absolutely lovely video and so nice to see Mr. Voltaire in a casual setting. Somehow, I've gone all these years never playing a B7, so happy to have this one to play with now. Ravens Land practice commencing now! Thank you!
Most of the songs off of "Almost Human" were fantastic. "The Night" is probably my favorite song, although "Feathery Wings" is also wonderful. I'd love to see how those two are played! And thank you for starting with "Ex-Lover's Lover"!
@serifinaxxx Voltaire said (i think in a different video) that he can't exactly read or write music. He's just a God on the guitar and knows how to build an entire empire on the air he breathes
どもありがとうございます!Ringo no Uta would be really amazing to learn and hear your story with it, as I am learning Japanese and am a huge fan of yours. I love how you are so personable to your audience. あまえはほんとに凄いですよ!
It would be great if you teach how to play the song "Day of The Dead", it's awesome! Well, your songs in general are awesome, but that one was one of my first ones that I listened from you (with When You're Evil") :3
Mr. Voltaire if possible could you show us members of the world how to play either Innocent or The Night. The guitarwork on both of these songs sound amazing and I have spent many an hour listening to them and the rest of your music. Thank you for considering my request. Also, I'm curious if you have any ideas on what songs you plan to use for the next friday the 13th AQW release? Thank you in advance for any response
Your music is an inspiration to me and i can play half the songs on riding a black unicorn and a couple on devils bris but i am wondering in your next guitar lesson could you teach BRAINS! ?
dear voltaire, since i began listening to tour music i fell in love with crusade's guitar. can you please, by the horrorness of curiosity, tell the world how to play it? :D
I would love to see you do The Last Word or Almost Human. By the way, technically if you play Em, Am etc. shapes a whole step down, they are Dm, Gm etc. Keep up these vids!
@theworldisugly1331 In a perfect world, I could sit and talk at great length with you and everyone else individually, however that would be counter productive because then I CERTAINLY would not have the kind of time I invest into making the music, films, books, toys, etc.. that people want to talk to me about! lol! And so we have public forums where one person's question, when answered, sate the curiosity of many. I'm afraid that short of talking to me at a show, that will have to do for now.
Thanks Voltaire!!!! Your really awesome!!! I still remember the time my auntie and I met you in Montreal!! Your very inspirational and can you please teach us how to play Cannibal Buffet??? Or Wake the Dead (Oh Lord)???
I'm slowly learning how to use my guitar with your videos better than hours and hundreds of dollars wasted on a teacher who just talked. Thanks Voltaire!!
One of your most beautiful, bittersweet songs. 🥺🤍 If you ever wish to show us another tutorial, I'd love to see Someone Like You & Leaves in the Stream 💕
Haha I agree on 3:08 xD btw love the Silence Of The Lambs reference xD oh and I would definitely love a how to play of either When You're Evil orrr The Chosen :) definitely two of my favorites
@Kukkii1337 oh, I still can't get the hang of it either. Course, I'm on an electric. I just meant that the instructions were easy to understand. I really am rather rubbish, but at least I get the idea pretty easily.
I listen to your music way too much. Whenever a snippet of instrumental pops into a vid I start to sing along. i.e. singing Vampire Club to the instrumental for your teaser vid for "The Lair of Voltaire", and having to pause this vid because I ended up singing ...About a Girl when it popped up in the intermission =P Hard at work mastering this and Ex Lovers Lover now.
I may not be musically talented to any degree, but I'm finding these videos very fun to watch. Suggestion for the next song to break down: "Brains" Because that was the first song I ever heard from you without even knowing it. Yes. From the Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy when I was younger. (I miss that show.)
Brains! It's just the style of the song I want to hear for the rest of my life; and it was the song that got me hooked onto you in Oman, in the Middle East! (Thank you Cartoon Network for guiding me to a kickass musician and professor of stop-motion animation!)
I've been trying to tab out Headless Waltz violin parts for guitar... It's an awesome song, I wanted to do a rock cover of it with my band :D I figured out its in D Harmonic Minor and the main violin riff, but I just can't figure out what the violins are playing when Voltaire starts singing. It is very difficult XD
Oh Goody, another episode of everybody's favorite show. HOW TO PLAY [Voltaire]. And you're wearing the famous sweater. I saw this video and when i came to, i was sitting back at my computer with my guitar in my lap. How do you do it? You should play SNAKES next At this point Voltaire, you should probably just go through the "Devil's Bris" album first, and then move onto another album, tackle that, then rinse and repeat.
Only to illegal file sharers who get their music from locker sites where shitty people upload an artists work (depriving that artist of the means to feed his family from the work he's done) and sometimes don't even know the name of the artist or the name of the song. Get your music from official sources and you will actually know what you're getting (and you'll be supporting the artists you claim to love). ; )
I agree with the person who asked for Innocent. So many of us can relate to it and have found it encouraging and/or comforting. Your tutorials are great! :D And if I see you at a convention, can I hug you? XD
@VoltaireMusicPage Hey man, Pandora categorizes your music ( many of them, including Ravens Land) as having "Punk Roots." I just thought this might be something you'd like to know since I can't really hear any Punk Roots in this album :P
I wish I had half the musical talent you do, regrettably, what I can do doesn't extend to writing anything remotely good. I would love to learn "Riding a Black Unicorn" by the way.
Feathery Wings. Absolutely. That song literally saved my life. It came on pandora right as I was about to... do something I wouldn't be able to regret. That song means a lot to me.
So i was practicing the Em Am B7 transitions just now...and I think I've accidentally stumbled upon the opening few chords of "Smooth Criminal"...o.O
Voltaire you are an inspiration to me. No really. When I decided to enter a short story competition, it was your music that made all the difference. I didn't have any idea what to write. "waltz with me, you skinny bitch" i completely lost my shit xD
I would LOVE to see you break down "Happy Song" or maybe "The Man Upstairs", "All The Way Down" would be another great one!
Honestly though, I just can't wait until the next one, whatever it is.

I still really like it when someone can appreciate a good sweater
@VoltaireMusicPage i forgot how much i loved this song. hauntingly beautiful
I WOULD say 'The Night' although you seem to be going in order of easyness, and you teaching us any songs is way better than none, so keep doing what'cha do.

@ilovekiba818 You can see my wife on a brief little video we made wishing everyone a Happy Halloween on the Lair of Voltaire
These videos are pretty darn awesome. Not only are they easy to understand for people who suck at guitar (me), they're pretty humorous.
I've really been wanting to learn how to play "the man upstairs." It's probably my favorite song of yours because of the guitar work.
For the next song, I vote WHERE'S THE GIRL or THE CHOSEN. Two personal favorites of mine, and songs I have never seen played live.
I would definitely love to hear how to play Out Of Reach, it's a big favorite of mine :)
Feathery Wings! That has some gorgeous guitar bits in it.
It would be great if you teach how to play the song "Day of The Dead", it's awesome! Well, your songs in general are awesome, but that one was one of my first ones that I listened from you (with When You're Evil") :3
I'd love either Riding a Black Unicorn or Goodnight Demonslayer please!
I'd LOVE to learn Goodnight Demonslayer!

I love your guitar lessons. You make it easy to understand and easy to follow. I can't wait for the next "How to play".

I would really love to learn Crusade. That has always been my favorite
I covered this in school, much praise!
I love this series
Your music is an inspiration to me and i can play half the songs on riding a black unicorn and a couple on devils bris but i am wondering in your next guitar lesson could you teach BRAINS! ?
dear voltaire, since i began listening to tour music i fell in love with crusade's guitar.
can you please, by the horrorness of curiosity, tell the world how to play it? :D
@VoltaireMusicPage yes, B7 is very melancholic chord, doesn't matter how you tune your guitar -nod-
Please, play "When You're Evil" in the next video! It's your 3rd song I ever listened to, and I just love it!
Thanks for the tutorial. Keep 'em coming. Also, I really like your curtains.
Great lesson! LOL at the chord fingering diagrams and "explanations".
Beautiful voice I can't believe I'm just now finding this
This video that is...

@theworldisugly1331 In a perfect world, I could sit and talk at great length with you and everyone else individually, however that would be counter productive because then I CERTAINLY would not have the kind of time I invest into making the music, films, books, toys, etc.. that people want to talk to me about! lol! Thanks Voltaire!!!! Your really awesome!!! I still remember the time my auntie and I met you in Montreal!! Your very inspirational and can you please teach us how to play Cannibal Buffet??? Or Wake the Dead (Oh Lord)???
The Man Upstairs. :D I can't find any videos of you playing it live to see the hand positions and try to learn it that way.
I'm slowly learning how to use my guitar with your videos better than hours and hundreds of dollars wasted on a teacher who just talked. Thanks Voltaire!!
@tazzramizz That is correct!
One of your most beautiful, bittersweet songs. 🥺🤍
If you ever wish to show us another tutorial, I'd love to see Someone Like You & Leaves in the Stream 💕
i love this man
Haha I agree on 3:08 xD btw love the Silence Of The Lambs reference xD oh and I would definitely love a how to play of either When You're Evil orrr The Chosen :) definitely two of my favorites
@Kukkii1337 I don't know what that is. I don't have a song by that title.
Would you be willing to make a How -To video for "The Night"? That one had really good rhythms in it.
Good night demonslayer is a must. Really.
Once again, I am suggesting "The Chosen" from the Devil's Bris album.
Ooh! Just thought of another one! What about "Vampire Club"?
@Kukkii1337 oh, I still can't get the hang of it either. Course, I'm on an electric. I just meant that the instructions were easy to understand. I really am rather rubbish, but at least I get the idea pretty easily.

The cutaways are killing me XD
Also the fact that nobody has chosen any of your songs have been used in dance shows is criminal
I'm a big fan your awesome I've added your music to many of my video go on be cool....
Do "The Chosen." It's such an interesting song. I'd like to hear what you have to say about it, as well as find out how to play it.
I may not be musically talented to any degree, but I'm finding these videos very fun to watch.
Suggestion for the next song to break down: "Brains"
Because that was the first song I ever heard from you without even knowing it. Yes. From the Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy when I was younger. (I miss that show.)
Trying to think of a track I'd love to see and it's too hard to decide! aha I'd love to see feathery wings or almost human though :D
Brains! It's just the style of the song I want to hear for the rest of my life; and it was the song that got me hooked onto you in Oman, in the Middle East!
(Thank you Cartoon Network for guiding me to a kickass musician and professor of stop-motion animation!)

@serifinaxxx Sorry, I have no sheet music.
@vintage1351 Really? That's really to the first part. It's obvious that he's a God on the guitar. Thank you.
I would love to learn how to play Dunce x
I'd like to learn "headless waltz"
Good Night Demonslayer PLEASE!
Only to illegal file sharers who get their music from locker sites where shitty people upload an artists work (depriving that artist of the means to feed his family from the work he's done) and sometimes don't even know the name of the artist or the name of the song. Guitar is not a dominant feature in the song, true. But if you listen, you do hear an acoustic in the background.
You make me want to buy a guitar.... what model is that one again?
Can u plz do Innocent Anniversary or Feathery wings
I wouldn't mind learning mechanical girl. Pretty nice steam punk song and awesome music to listen to while playing aqw XD
Feathery wings would be great, or wall of pride!
I agree with the person who asked for Innocent.
So many of us can relate to it and have found it encouraging and/or comforting.
Your tutorials are great! :D
And if I see you at a convention, can I hug you? XD
Also, I love your hat, your facial hair, and your epicness....

Were dis you get the sweater. I've been trying to look for something like it.. I love that sweater!!!!!!
You should teach us how to play Snakes.

The Beast of Pirate's Bay.
There's a lot of songs I want to know how to play, gut the principals are Goodnight Demonslayer and Land of the Dead.
