  • Now that your hands are hitting notes you previously thought impossible, let’s up your game and maximize your practice sessions with this superhot FREE Practice Cheat Sheet!
    📙 𝗚𝗲𝘁 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗽𝘆: www.guitarmast...
    If you think your tiny hands are a hindrance and a curse, then think again!
    Because I’ve got the ultimate in quick, quiet hand exercises that’ll have your fretting hand hitting notes you previously thought out of reach.
    And the best part? It’s mostly silent! You can park up on the couch playing this exercise next to your spouse while you both watch Netflix, and they won’t hear a thing!
    The key element to this exercise is adding a new range of motion and elasticity to your fretting hand.
    But we also need to take some of your limiting self beliefs, like “my hands are too small” and “I’ll never reach those notes!” and kick them to the curb, asap.
    I used to have a similar belief when I first started playing guitar. I thought my hands would only play the 4 frets I could reach at the time.
    But I’m telling you, IF you put the work in, you will see massive, life altering results.
    This exercise is simple, fun and guaranteed to get your hands stretching. Play this every day for a few minutes before you kick into your other songs and within a week you’ll notice the difference.
    And all of a sudden, those small hands of yours are hitting frets and easily playing solos you didn’t think possible.
    Enjoy!

    I totally agree with your suggestion about sitting position. I believe every learning guitar player should be taught to hold their guitar (electric or acoustic) in "classical" position while sitting. Not just for finger stretching but also for health reasons; that position puts less strain on your muscles and nerves in your wrist and forearm. They will appreciate that lesson many years later ;)

    It does physically matter if you have a shorter than normal pinky like I do. Mine is approx 10mm shorter than most, including yours. This is about a fret less than you can reach but I'll persist and let you know. Apparantly size does matter 🙂

    • @steve_one
      @steve_one Год назад +11

      @@virid6819 The benefits of having the guitar sit higher on your body is important as your wrist is straighter with your hand to assist the stretches I think. Regardless of pinky size, the straighter wrist will benefit everyone. Thanks for asking 🙂

    I have large enough hands to palm a basketball, but also have other factors against me. As I approach 60, instead of just doing chords like I've done all my live, I've decided to start working on mastering runs up and down the fretboard. Unfortunately, I've had injuries to all my fingers on my left hand with multiple surgeries. This has limited my ability to stretch out across frets, neutralizing the advantage of larger hands. Still, I think doing these stretches will help. It's probably going to take me 10 times longer because of age and injuries, but I'm determined to do lightning fast runs like 1 3 5 across all my strings. Thanks for the exerrcise ideas!

    • @tracymatherson8174
      @tracymatherson8174 Год назад

      Be grateful you have large hands to begin with. I have small child hands and short fingers.
      I’m over 65 and I’ve had a broken finger and arthritis in my hands … …man, trying to get back into guitar after a 40 year hiatus is hard!
      My fingers are so stiff that it’s discouraging.
      But I do remember practice makes perfect.
      Oh how I wish I had those nimble 20 year old fingers again.
      I was studying Blues scales before I had to stop because of a cross-country move all those years ago.
      It’s like you have to develop a whole new mindset with the limitation’s.
      I remind myself of the guitar players with missing fingers.
      Where there’s a will, there’s a way!
      40 years later, it’s like starting over from scratch, only harder.
