You can't create stars and expect they will last more than 15 mins Greats like Redding, Gaye, Franklin, etc made it b/c they were that good that they couldn't be denied. People are so desperate to find the next great one that they overrate every singer that can sorta carry a tune. Instead of force feeding greatness go back to the old ways and the cream will rise to the top.

Considering the Idols have about 1:30 to put on the best performance they can, Taylor did the most with what time he had. And he planned it that way.
