Y'all are harsh... besides he had much stronger performances than this one, but this is the week he had to change the song last minute because they weren't gonna allow him to sing his original choice. I like him. He's underrated.

His worse performance he could easily have left that night if those two girls wasn’t still in he probably got the sympathy vote through that night he seemed very sad and defeated as if he was going to get eliminated yet ended up winning the whole show. People forget that year was the most watched in American idol history I also think Elliot fans voted for him over kathrine once he came 3rd if it was between him and Elliot maybe Elliot would have won instead.

He’s a clown. Daughtry should’ve won. Case closed. As for his performance I wouldn’t say atrocious but pretty forgettable and average. Its a better performance than usual cuz at least he wasn’t a drunk dad hopping around the stage.
Worst American Idol Winner in the history of the show. I get people hated McPhee, but she was 10x more talented than this guy. Daughter might have won, but even he didn’t have the range of McPhee.
I liked both Chris Daughtry and Taylor Hicks. I loved their songwriting and bought multiple albums by both of them. I also love their new songs from the past few years. Years after this, Taylor performed an original indie song that he wrote/co-wrote on American Idol and got a standing ovation from all of the judges. Including Simon Cowell. Taylor was shocked and thrilled that Simon gave him a standing ovation. I wish I could remember the title of that song that he performed that night so I could watch the video of it again.

Taylor Hicks wasn’t the best choice of an Idol winner, that was not a good song choice for him! It was just utterly atrocious!

@sboudreaux27 I thought Elliot was one of the strongest of the season. But didn't have as big of a fanbase as Taylor.
Daughtry had off nights and he went to the bottom a couple of times. Taylor Hicks didn't have awesome moments but he has never been in the bottom.
