Love my Lucais!! Best wallet and I have a few of them
Thank you for reviewing this one. I’ve been on the fence and I always trust your reviews.
Just got mine and I love it! 🙌🏽
Wallet isnt bad at all…i just dont like that flap having no secure closure on it….it is a nice wallet…but that flap just insecure isnt doing it for me…Great review chrispy!!!!
One of if not my favorite wallet i own. The first one they sent me had a crack in the leather and customer service was awesome they replaced it right away. Everytime ive needed their help, they've been great. I'm not sure if i like this wallet more than the johnny cash wallet. But both are in the running for my number one. Great review as always 👍🏻
Been eying this wallet for a while. Dropped to $84 and finally ordered it. Can't wait to give it a run.
Where do you see it for $84. Website has it for 115 still.
Love, love, love this wallet. The flap is a non-issue for the reasons stated. I went with the International version so that the bills had no chance of edging out-just an OCD thing. Would totally buy one again. Good customer service interactions and responsive.
I prefer to carry my wallet in front pocket. I'm currently carrying a minimalist wallet from another company. In your opinion would the international version be too bulky for front pocket carry?
@@benben-sl7hi Not at all, I only front-carry.
@Cycle774 thanks for the input! Going to order one soon and this helps me with my decision. Cheers 🍻
Im getting rid of my ridge minimalist wallet and going back to leather. This is one of the top choices along with maybe a last Dutchman I’ve been considering. If you do a giveaway on that Lucais (right hand) or even the wider euro version, please let me enter for a chance at it. Great reviews
Great review and I agree with everything you said. My favorite wallet is the Port from Craft and Lore. The Lucas is a close second.I have four of JJ’s wallets, three Lucas and one Christopher. He also sells one is Shell Cordovan for $500. IMO, his prices are outrageous compared to comparable wallets, but I have several so it wasn’t a deterrent. That being said, I’d never buy one in shell at that price point.
I definitely want one !!!
Bottom line in life you often get what you pay for and all I see here is that this is a beast of a wallet with no real down side except a little expensive. I am sold... I presently use a Duluth Pack leather business card holder that everything falls out of it.. love it though.. :)
I have had no issues with my 3 Lucais wallets, I just wished it was slightly wider by 1/8 to fully accommodate Canadian bills. That would be the biggest change I would make to the wallet. Other than that I love it I own 4 of them. I think the main reason people's cards are falling out from the main slot is because they pack the wallet with 6 or 7 cards, stretch the leather and now it won't grip the cards anymore because the leather is really broken in.
I love mine I have 2 of them
this would be perfect for me if the front had a rivet snap of some sort
I have one and love it but I just wish the leather wasn’t so thick. People complain about the flap is so dumb. I love that there are no snaps or anything. You don’t need it and it look great
In my top 3 wallets. Love this one. Nice review!
The price is an issue. I don't have an issue with the price in a vacuum, but I do when it is compared to others out there that use high quality leather. I had OpenSea make me a custom version of the Houbei that fits Yen better, and even at a slightly elevated price for the customization and more materials used, it was still less than this. I don't think I would pay for this when I can get the same or better quality from other well known makers in the space, who also have excellent customer service.
I’ve been looking at this one for a while……..And I usually get a ton of Christmas money every year,So I may pull the trigger on someone else’s dime😂Glad to see you reviewing it before I make my decision👍🏻
I tried this wallet a while back but it was just way too thick for my liking and I couldn’t get past how it felt in my front pocket. If I was a heavy cash user, I probably would’ve stuck with it though as it’s a very functional design.
So, I just bought the Lucais international version and it was delivered today. Wow! This leather is MUCH thinner and feels more soft than the USD version I had bought a long while back. I am so glad that I gave it another try. I like this one much better than the last one that I had tried. Much better feel in the front pocket!
It looks great, and I may end up dropping 110 on it sometime in the future , but there are just too many other handmade options with great quality for well under that price point. 🤷🏻♂️
Great review though, dude. Thanks!
The cards are poking out from the back/3rd pocket.
Do you prefer this version or the Christopher?
I think I prefer the Christopher if I had to choose
Great wallet review Chris this wallet did intrigue me but $110??? Woah!!! I’ll stick my open sea leather topsider bifold LT even when softie leather goods makes a wallet that is called the Logan wallet ( my first name ) but that’s nowhere’s near as customizable as any of Michael’s offerings over at Open Sea leather
*with
I believe Softie leather goods has shut down sadly
I remember when I went to the ATM to get. Cash out. My debit card was still in the ATM, I opened up my wallet, and my cards dropped down on the floor. That's my only complaint
Oh man, thanks, yo. I tried what you said and pushed one card down in that card slot. I shook it and it didn't go nowhere. I'm back using that wallet now
Nice
Whens the best wallets of 2023 coming out? Id vote the johnny Cash as my number 1 and the lucas as my number two followed by the topsider bifold LT.
I’ll love if you can rate some of my wallets!

Good wallet, but from my experience, their customer service was shit
ya they need work thats for sure.
I've always thought these look a bit crude. I've seen enough in comments on social media to stay away from this one. Lots of small makers out there that understand how customer service is supposed to work. Overpriced too
Isn’t crude part of the aesthetics of leather goods? What alternatives did you like?
@@robertduluth8994 Tauruscamp, Open Sea Leather, Willow Craft Goods, Craft and Lore, Loyal Stricklin, and Ashland Leather are some of the brands that I personally own, multiple in most cases. There's probably a few others floating around here that I'm not thinking of at the moment. The one that I've stuck with for the last 6 months has been the Tauruscamp Grain. I own two of those presently. Fantastic to use day to day, and the ones I'm likely to stick with. A Shell Cordovan Grain is coming at some point for sure! The Open Sea Houbei 2.0 is another favorite. English Tan Dublin and reverse waxed flesh is pretty incredible stuff
You’re high af. Move along
No RFID is a killer in this day and age
I dont like how the front cards turn upside down when you open it. Might fall out.
lol. Why do I even bother demonstrating things in my videos…
Open Sea is better in my book.
Any particular wallet from open sea?
@@ChrispyThings Topsider Bifold is my new favorite. But the leather itself is just unbeatable in all his gear.
I could see all my cards falling out as it’s flipped open. Seems like a poor design. For $110 there’s better wallets out there.
Did you not watch the part where I demonstrated that the cards don’t fall out?
@@ChrispyThings yes, I did. This was a new wallet with limited use. This leather will stretch with time and it will not hold cards like you demonstrated over time. This is the reason I don’t use vertical wallets unless they have a closure of some type. This wallet basically becomes an inverted vertical wallet when unfolded. An accident waiting to happen. It would be a pass for me.
Honestly looks cheap. Buy American!
I buy plenty of American thanks
How much money did he pay you to say all this stuff? Lol.
Absolutely none. Why would you ask that?
I’m passing my experience and info on to you.
