"He doesn't tell me what to do."
"He just....told you what to do."
"I know. I let him."
Ego at its peak Lol
Ryan from Office.
Raghunandan Reddy C ‘I want someone to inspire me when I wanna be inspired’
Wu Wei, what do you mean by “ego at its peak”? Sorry, I have Aspergers (a cognitive learning disability on the spectrum of Autism).
@lianasoares8052 Hes basically saying the character has a huge ego because even when he is ordered around, he tells himself and mia that he is being ordered around only because he doesn't mind it. Which is to say, if he didn't wanna do something the band leader asked him to do, he wouldn't do it. This attitude comes from a sense of superiority he feels from being a jazz musician and the others in the band not being as technically trained as he is. He is able to talk like this only because he has a huge ego. Good day!
@varun3253, sorry but that just went over your head. I appreciate your effort but don’t stress out over explaining something to someone like me who has Aspergers (a cognitive learning disability on the spectrum of Autism).
Emma 's funny dancing wasn't even in script she just did spontaneously.
Really? Just makes the scene that much better
Josh Evans Yup, in one interview, the script just describes Mia as "astonishing" in this scene, so Emma had to improvise.
makes sense for anyone who saw her in the lipsynch-battle ^^
That's easy A "pocket full of sunshine" moment right there
Something that isnt in the script doesn't mean that's improvised by the actor, these type of things are mostly directing changes, the director can add or cut lines, movements or even complete scenes and characters from the script
One thing that separates Emma Stone from a lot of actresses is how she can be so naturally funny.
And so down to earth at the same time😍
You guys serious?
She's like a more likeable Jennifer Lawrence.
@egogeo851 Yes, she has great sense of humor.
Except that she's not
"I guess I'll see you in the movies"
it was finally true.
Juan Gómez 💔
Thanks for making me cry
HAHHAHAHAHAHA YOU ARE EVIL
ㅠㅠ
was it?? it could have been dream too
Emma stone was perfect in this movie. No other actress could’ve played the role like her
I think this is why she deserved the oscar
Lady GaGa can do it :-P
@sousavann Nope
@sousavann wow really?
@sousavann are you....serious?..lmao
Ema Watson ?
The moment she started dancing, I knew she had the Oscar in the bag
I knew from the start when they do the highway dancing... Abother day of sun
@dhavalp22 I don't think Emma's character is in the video for Another Day of Sun
I was thinking the same thing, and hoping no one would do a film about the Holocaust or a disabled person.
@dhavalp22 what an amazing scene that was, I was so happy to watch a movie that made me feel like how the old classic musicals did
@dhavalp22 No
I’m absolutely in love with their chemistry. It’s like they’re actually flirting and falling in love and we’re all just third wheeling. Emma’s acting especially stands out so much; she can go from effortlessly dorky and cutesy to tear-jerkingly raw and open.
Same was with crazy, stupid love
Let’s hope for a third film together, maybe another romcom?
@ray.b.75there’s actually already another one, I think it’s a mafia movie
@ray.b.75La La Land was their third movie together. In between of Crazy Stupid Love and La La Land they were in a gangster movie called "Gangster Squad"
just realized that she requested that song to mock him for running away from her on their first meet
Bravoo!!!
Wow.
Also because it's the most boring song for a pianist to plays very repetitive
@alperenfazla4410 Chill out genius..I had never heard the song so realized it late
@mooominpapa haha that's the same reason I thought of 😂
“You’re a barista I can see how you could then look down on me from all the way up there” the shade 😂
hes not wearing his shades when he says that
@ResurrectingHobo are you serious 😂😂
@ResurrectingHobo Thanks Dad
Boomer Detected 🚨
@Josh-fp2qn Yup, cuz he owns his home, which you will NEVER!
It's such a small comedic detail but the small plastic-y sound of him putting on his sunglasses at the end somehow makes the moment so much funnier
Something about that kept nagging at me, like it was different. I guess that's what it was lol
It's the awkward jerk..when he's putting on the sunglass..that makes it more realistic
Ryan did that in Barbie too, over another pair of sunglasses 😂
@xaviconde he wears sunglasses in many movies because his eyes are a bit wonky - it's easier to shoot scenes that way, otherwise they need to use specific angles to hide the fact.
@AmazingDudeBodyidk his eyes look ight
If I found a girl who is ok with being that weird in public I would propose instantly
Income Tax it was not that weird
A lot of girls competing to be the weirdest of the lot really
Sho Nest but it wasn’t that weird! lol
but it wasnt even that weird
@shonest8489 hahahahaha
Ryan Gosling should have got an Oscar for this role. The work he put in is just amazing.
Can't agree less.
Apparently he's great in 'Barbie'.
He deserved it
even though he was great casey affleck was something else in manchester by the sea
Same as always 😂
Their chemistry is so damn good
I was just thinking that. I wish they would make more films together.
@Josh-fp2qnthey’ve been in 3 together!!!
@emoly1117After seeing Crazy Stupid Love I had to see La La Land for them
Ryan gosling is the perfect man.
d cet nah. I am.
defne C Emma is perfect woman.
defne C as a man I agree
By looks and attitude
For you
Emma just killed me in this scene
Same
Mia
I dont understand the whole scene, can you explain me please? I mean, whats the deal with the song she chose and the way they seem at each other, thank you, maybe I just over thinked it so much I don't get it haha
@mariodelgadogt becuase when they first met, he basically ran away, she was coming to compliment him for the song he was playing on the piano and then he bumped into and fleed. So I think she chose that song to mock him
I can't believe they offered Emma Watson this movie. I don't think so she could have pulled this off.
She's not that great an actress so no probs not
May be if she had done this movie..you would be writing...no one could have act like of Emma Watson...she is so perfect here'...who knows? 😂😂😂
They are actors...they can nail anything.
She can't sing so yeah, she would have ruin it...
She's a really bad actress. Like a robot.
Thanks for sharing.
Just the perfect scene. Gosling’s head nods and shakes are so good. And Stone’s dancing and then “myyyyy Lord did you just say a serious musician?!” Always has me cracking up
This movie is perfect
Sandra Sandy Perfect is the best word to describe it! 😀
whatever is shown in this movie, I have lived that in real life
Not the ending. For me, I mean.
@rahulmandal1474 Fascinating story there, Rahul.
@rahulmandal1474 sad
La La Land deserved that Oscar. that‘s all i say.
1:31 That sarky nod and walk off she does after the mockingly over the top dance had me in stitches 😂😂
1:42 "Sometimes I feel I've gotta run away, I've got to get away" is such a tangy splice-in after "I Ran", adding insult to Seb's injured pride...
Songs in order of appearance:
Take on Me
I Ran
Tainted Love
Thanks.
@babyvillalobos4530 I bet you were breastfed to an unusually old age.
Everyone knows. Those three are very popular songs.
@Ray-mw1fx i don't think so
Thanks
"Myyy Lord did you just say serious musician?"
...
"I don't think so"
Funniest part
The only musical I will ever see again n again
Dhananjay Deshmukh First one I’ve liked since that one from ‘39.
West Side Story & Little Shop of Horrors are both pretty fantastic.
Michael J. MacIsaac
West side story is bland asf
The greatest showman is amazing imo
You should see The rocky horror picture show or Hedwig and the angry inch
The disbelief on her face when she realized it is him; and the disbelief on his face that she would mock him by that song and her dance are equally genesis
Me looking at the title “when did they go to Iran?”
おもしろ動画 aged well
La La Land 2 : The Iran Rescue Mission
😹
Am I the only one obsessed with her smile
0:35 one of my favorite double takes on cinema
Whats d take?
You have to love the juxtaposition of Emma and Ryan's expressions in this scene. Emma is drawing so much delight out of the situation while Ryan could not look more annoyed and in pain when trying to pretend to be into the song.
the last line "guess I'll see you in the movies" that became real after all after they broke up
Fates colliding + Mia’s flirt dance is hilarious! 👍🏻
This is an updated version of the scene in Singing In The Rain where Debbie Reynolds talks about being a serious actress and is then revealed to one of the dancing girls at the party.
Or Holiday Inn
"Me? I'm Linda Mason!"
Nice point
I don't remember that scene but good spot!
@lizclegg7556 I guess it's 2 scenes technically. In the car after she picks him up she talks about how she's going to be "real actress on the stage" and they argue because she's looking down on his film career "Farewell Ethel Barrymore, I must tear myself from your side"!
Then in the next scene she pops out of the cake and dances at the party while Don watches and teases her.
“Well, if it isn’t Ethel Barrymore!”
i love the singer. he needs his own film.
Who? Me? Stop! 🤚🏼
Ryan's expressions 👌
1:34 That smile! 😀
0:37 I love his reaction
Emma's acting is amazing here. Kinda gives goosebumps..
Also funny how the singer used to be in a band with Damien Chazelle
He's dressed like Kaneda from AKIRA which is so fking cool considering he was in Drive which was a lot like AKIRA.
i wore a yellow dress like that to my senior prom. i got compliments and it was lovely.
And the dance was improvised by her 😂
Do you think that was hard?
Liz Clegg i doubt you couldve done it half as interesting as hers
This is a gorgeous movie. Definitely deserved the Best Cinematography Oscar.
Gosling's got that natural humor that bleeds through his serious demeanor.
I remember always trying to search for this scene. Funniest scene in the movie. Truly a classic
0:17 Yeah, she's clearly looking at Sebastian like"him again?".
Ryan Gosling will receive an academy award someday. There's something about him that tells.
Emma's adorableness had me in Superbad,
she was born for this
musical.
Franz Khooletz what of it
At 2:22 it is a perfect parallel to a conversation between Don and Kathy in Singin' in the Rain
Savannah Lanz Farewell Ethel Barrymore! I must tear my self from your side!
Why Ryan closes his eyes before putting on the sunglasses ?? That's weird tho Lol
ThereAreOnly TwoGenders as much as I disagree with your comment, it’s funny as hell lol
Its the cutest thing 😍
Probably to not stab himself with the pieces that go behind your ears
I just realised that; that's so funny 😂😂
Think I do that when I put on glasses as well
The perfect, scene.
I swear to gosh, this scene is one of my favorites in all movies. Emma Stone is just perfect.
Her smile and nod right before she walks away is so freaking hysterical. Like, take that Mr. man…..😂😂😂
She never looks like she's over acting though..such a phenomenal actress
I just realised Ken putting on double sunglasses in Barbie is a reference to this La La Land Scene
One of the funniest surprise scenes I've ever seen. Stone is so damn funny lip-syncing. She absolutely wrecked it on Fallon with DJ Khaled.
I loved how she'll totally commit to the moment and can just be silly without remorse.
You can analyze any damn second she is on screen and she has the PERFECT expression on her face and body. She was born to be an actress. Amazing talent
Favorite scene besides the ending
True. That ending was amazing.
"He doesn't tell me what to do" haha gets me everytime
So he walks, he runs, he drives
the fact me and my best friend can recreate this word for word and move for move says a lot about us 😭
The dialogue is so natural in this movie it’s crazy
Emma Stone really fit in this role, She look so much beautiful and gorgeous I prefer her to win Oscar that's sure she already win.
God she’s adorable in this scene!!
1:34 She made me drop my phone 😩❤️
Best scene ever lol. Emma is brilliant.
This is by far my favourite scene in the whole movie 👌
Probably the best scene ever.
"guess i'll see you in movies"
AND HE DID... but never had the chance to say how proud he is :(
this makes me crack each time I watch it. the chemistry and the play
One of my favorite movies ever
Great script in this scene. Very funny how they dish out jibes at each other, but not really offended at the same time.
From the second she started dancing,
Girl,you bagged that oscar
IRAN SO FARAWAY
love that song!
Her smile at the end of song ❤️
The chemistry between them here and in crazy stupid love is something to be admired. Only romcoms that i can actually watch.
Does this count as romcom? Perhaps a bit.
Yeah, I don't usually care for romcoms, but I liked Crazy Stupid Love and I love these two.
The good romcoms are so hard to find. But my first one was The Parent Trap
0:37 I'm watching my house is burn XD
From Stones to Rocks, Ryan Gosling can handle them all
As a pianist, I die a little whenever someone tells me to "tickle the ivories"...
1:33 "I have an Oscar and you don't"
I love Emma Stone. She's a wonderful actress and one of the very nicest celebrities out there.
A great scene in a great movie filled with great scenes!
Gosling's double take was so perfect
I don't ever see myself watching this movie...but that was funny!
That level of chemistry...
Looking up the Israel and Iran conflict and got to this. Still a great scene.
These two are totally credible and make the movie. Lesser actors would have totally ruined it. They save the film and make it special
It’s just tough for star power to automatically make a movie with a capital M these days
The way he twitches his eyes before putting on sunglasses🤣
Honestly wish we just got to see the entire I Ran performance and reactions - I could watch it for hours on loop.
My favourite scene in this movie masterpiece. I love Emma Stone, she is funny and has beautiful smile.
EMMA STONE IS SUPER FUNNY IN THIS SCENE LMAO
We fell in love with Emma Stone
Emma Stone's acting is superb.
I think Ryan’s facial reactions are way funnier than Emma’s dancing in this scene
6 years on, and I still want that dress 💛🌻
I like this version of I ran more than the original. It’s just a bit unfortunate that it’s so short.
Splendid scene of an wonderful movie.. Best movie..
Favourite actor and actress..
She's my fav actress.
S E R I O U S M U S I C I A N
Emma killed this role 👏🏾
Wow Emma, Just wow, that dance those expressions OMG!!!!!!
My friend told me this movie looks like a bag of balloons, which is oddly specific yet perfectly accurate.
