Not much good footage on the bike at all. This is way better already than some Indian guy I've seen review the bike. Best one I've seen was in French. But yeah the footage is bad in general much less professional reviews.
If this is to be considered a superbike review by a newbie, then fine, but this cannot possibly be a serious test. Though the lady can shift gears, she is quite far from being an experienced rider. It looks as though she has just taken a quick track lesson and got the RC8 out for a spin. I've ridden an RC8 for more than 2 years now, on track, off track. One of the easiest and most comfortable supersports out there. I love chicks on sportbikes, but let's get competent ones.
LOL. I laugh at the couch potatoes who criticize her. Anyone who does trackdays regularly, and I do, would never criticize anyone for getting on the track and giving it a try. Bottom line, she did it right, got out there, had fun, was safe, did a quality review of real world riding, and kept it on two wheels. I see many so called (in their heads anyway) street racers bin it every weekend. I agree about the seat, it's a track seat, try 300 miles on it, no way. Sportbikes aren't tourers.
@StigRossi I wear sunglasses under my clear visor every day- on and off the track. I will also be wearing my sunglasses under my clear visor on July 7th when I wring the RC8R's neck at Mid-Ohio during KTM's Race Orange track day. Don't hate! LOL

Eh. I don't see it the same way when you're paid to ride motorcycles and paid to be on the track. Anyone else is investing a whole lot of their own money and trying to do the best they can. This lady has all the resources in the world, just no heart though. That's fine though, I think she's a journalist first and a rider second. She said the RC8R is terrible on the street. Cop out ass statement posted on every sportbike. Yeah sure whatever they aren't BMW GS's but people ride them on the street and they're streetbikes, so tell us how the V-2's torquey nature makes it a breeze to ride around in traffic, and how while aggressive it really isn't the most uncomfortable superbike, especially for taller people though you can't fault her for not noticing that. But those handlebars are very wide, excellent for track and street. The worst thing about it for street riding, considering I daily one, is the fact it's a KTM haha. It ain't no Japanese bike and it'll want to be pampered, where I could get a Honda, bin it twice, and spit in the oil fill and run it on that and she'll be aite.
@StigRossi I only ride one track day a year, bro. It would be impractical for me OR any motojournalist to invest in a dark visor. In your defense, it would be easy to assume that any moto reporter could have gotten the proper gear just by asking for it. For ME, a dark visor would be an impractical investment as 99% of my riding is on the street where dark visors are illegal when the sun goes down.
Any woman that can fit in that leather suit and can finish a lap on RC8-R has earned the right to B.S. with me. I can listen all day.LOL. I'll watch this again with the sound on.
@strnoob100 No way it does 300km/h and 0-100 in under 2 seconds. Whether or not it's the best bike ever I can't tell, I've never ridden it. So maybe you were right about that. :)
@SlayerofFiction I would agree with you if she pretended to be a racer. She is just a girl on a bike that would be enough for most mortals. For that she gets thumbs up from me (more than thumbs actually).
@FOSH5OKT Her body position thru most of the corners is in need of severe improvement, her line through the corkscrew is really really weird, I could go on, but I won't. Nothing sexist. My advanced biking instructor was female, and she is a better rider than me, but this woman, I'm sorry, just isn't, and most importantly, doesn't really review the bike properly. her comments abt comfort could be said of ANY sportsbike, & she didn't mention the gearbox
Who wears SUNGLASSES at the track?! On the street it still looks naff but is acceptable considering nighttime. Judging from her body posn, she rides worse than me and Im quite crap on the track anyway. LA Times please replace her, but in the interim spend the $40 for a dark visor please!
i was so looking forward to seeing this but i am bitterly disappointed because this chick just ruined it for me beeeeeeeg time. Awesome bike but kuk presenter!!!
I don't care she's a woman. I know plenty of women who are capable of riding and appreciating a bike like this. I don't even care if a woman is faster then me and overtakes me on the track (it happens) but I do mind if this bike is evaluated by a sore-ass person incapable of riding and appreciating it.
Review is poor and lacks depth. I just want to say this has nothing to do with gender, but can't the LA Times get a more capable rider for the review???
Thanks! Please keep the motorcycle videos coming LATimes! (And bring back the regular print column!)
Good review and I can't wait to try it both on the track and street.
This is a bike to be reviewed by a racer, canyon carver, or trackday enthusiast. Not by a timid street commuter.
Not much good footage on the bike at all.

Beautiful bike, absolutly awesome!

@djmerchant but why tho? Why not a dark visor?

You hang off the bike better than I corner my Vespa. I have a lot to learn to ride my Multistrada 620 with more confidence!
Don't learn from the wrong person, but I'm glad you want to learn

@TheSkullknight12
It is 175HP so it is Yam,Suz,Hon,Kaw comparable but it's European so it's more expensive

WTF? Look at the Tyre, even if in the circuit it isn't closed.. there are 1-2 centimeters.. -.-

Agreed 150%. And my advanced motorcycle teacher was Female so I've got no issues with them, just crap ones
Slap my mamma, getting mine next week.... :)

Kool bike but they need to get someone that actually knows how to ride a sport bike for stuff like this.
I love her!
OMG
why would you test drive this and not ride it to the redline ?? your soft

stick to washing, cleaning & cooking luv.
Why review this bike if you admit your self its to much, give it to a real motorcyclist to review
@ttraynor1 - Exactly.....now we know it's not a bike for chicks....as if we wouldn't have known that before
A large bike?? eh, not really...
i was so looking forward to seeing this but i am bitterly disappointed because this chick just ruined it for me beeeeeeeg time. Awesome bike but kuk presenter!!!
WOOOAH! 6 GEARS?! LOL, it's a bike ffs.
Crooked mouth on that dude

useless info
looks ugly and no chance vs. a gsxr 1k or a kawa zx10 but the kawa is also ugly :D
What a waste, why put a bird on a bike who is so negative, stick to shopping..
can we get a review from a man,,,, im not sexist but this is lame
