You're right, I absolutely understand what you're saying about Hank. He's so complex but you can clearly see how much he loves Hope and how the loss of his wife affected him.

It's the flipside of the same coin. Hank wants Scott to don the suit because he wants to protect Hope from the same fate as her mom. For Scott, it's a redemption story. The more he does in the name of Pym/Ant Man, the more he'll get to be w/ his daughter.

What I appreciate in this movie is that it didn’t treat Scott’s ex wife in the jealous evil ex trope, nor did it treat the new husband as the evil mean stepfather. The mom cares about Scott and obviously wants the best for Cassie, she is reasonable and logical and supportive. And the stepfather genuinely loves Cassie and will risk everything to protect her and he’s not trying to push Scott out of Cassie’s life. This is more of the healthy blended family relationships that we need to see more of in media.

I have to say that was one of the biggest pleasant surprises of this movie. The way they portrayed a healthy family dynamic when it would have been SO easy to follow the tropes.

Antman is Marvel’s nice uncle who makes jokes in inappropriate moments. I really like him.

In the comic books Hank Pym was the original yellow jacket and he took up that identity after he dropped the Ant-Man persona when he took a more villainous role in the comic books. Hank beat and nearly killed his wife with ants. I think a similar thing happened in the MCU but instead of that happening because he was a horrible person it happened due to his exposure to the PYM particles which effected his brain chemistry just like their effect on Darren cross. There's no chance of that happening now to Scott Lane because of Hank Pym developing a specialized helmet to protecting him or whoever wears the Ant-Man suit.

that "you need to know when to not use humor" is my problem with the newer marvel movies :/ after end game some of the movies just want to be funny instead of actually good! but don't worry, civil war knows it's place.

Great reaction as always! Don't worry about being confused by what's happening in the end-credits scene, it's literally a scene taken from the middle of the next movie, Civil War, so it will make more sense when watched in context.

The focus on both father daughter relationships were the highlights of the movie. And the choice they made to keep Hope and Scott on the back burner was a brilliant choice.

I think Hank picks Scott for a couple of reasons. The most obvious one is that he's expendable, but if it was just that, why choose Scott and not someone with more training? He chooses Scott because I think he sees him as an 'ethical thief'. Scott wasn't robbing Vistacorp for personal gain. He was sending money to the people that had been taken advantage of by the company. Not to mention he knows Scott is desperate to straighten his life up for Cassie.

Scott has the motivation to do well to see Cassie. I think that was part of Hank's decision to choose him.

Do it on the second and third Antman movies. Plus, from the third Antman movie, "Drink the ooze!"

The original Avengers, in the comics, were Thor, Iron Man, the Hulk, and. ANT-MAN & The WASP. Captain America was resurrected from the ocean in issue #4 (I own a copy). The uncontrollable Hulk departed around #3, but showed up again in #5 and eventually went away all together. In issue #15, Iron Man, Thor and now Giant-Man & the Wasp departed (GiANT-Man) leaving Captain America alone to rebuild the team with Hawkeye, Quicksilver (Pietro) and his sister, The Scarlet Witch (Wanda). This was all back in the early 1960's and the story has been re-imagined several times. Hank Pym returned as "Goliath" and eventually left and returned again disguised as "Yellowjacket." The Ant-Man (Giant-Man) character was Hank Pym and the Wasp was Janet Van Dyne, a high society eventual girlfriend/wife to Hank. Inn a reimagined version, known as The Ultimates, Hank was redesigned as an abuser, who Janet left and divorced. It sort of ruined his stellar character, so when they relaunched the Ant-Man character, they replaced Hank with Scott Lang. Comics can be so confusing since they change writers frequently, and some of these idiots think they're smarter than Stan Lee, Jack Kirby and Larry Leiber (Stan's brother in real life).

I really enjoy your reactions and reviews. Honestly a lot of reaction channels are kind of boring if they linger more than a few minutes after the movie, but you are very interesting and entertaining! Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

    Next to Frank Castle,
Hank Pym is most in his disregard for people...
    High temper and violent..
If Batman behaved like the original Ant-Man,
Robin would need Child Protective Services...
