@@martyC9578 I get apple boxes from our Walmart and use the apple inserts to lay my Christmas bulbs in. As the inserts are molded for apples they work great..
I wrap my existing pillows with large scarfs when I want to change out my look. Thrift stores are forever full on them. Cheaper then new pillows and you can add a coordinating blanket/ throw and you can find those fairly inexpensive anywhere you shop.
With my twins, they always had their own paper-BUT on Christmas morning, I’d hide a 6” square swatch with their name on it. They have to find the swatch before opening gifts bc they didn’t know whose was whose. (Gives us parents time to get some coffee going ❤) They’re 19 now & we still do it!
When our five were young, I wrapped their gifts in their own different paper. Before that, the older kids would shake them and figure out what was in them before we got to the tree. I also cut out a swatch and glued it to school paper with their name next to it. That way little ones recognized their name and their gifts. They are between 30 and 50 now, and they still get their own paper (so do the extended family). Ruth in Illinois. Merry Christmas early!
Just an fyi…..the glasses in your place settings should be in the upper right of the placemats. (I was just talking about this at dinner tonight.) I took notes and screenshots of many of these hacks. 🥰
An even less expensive way to dress up the craft paper wrapping - use cookie cutters dipped in craft paint. The paint doesn't stick too badly if you keep a little dish of water to put them in as you finish using each one. You can also use the cookie cutters as templates to mark cheap sponges for cutting out. The spacey look of the paint from the sponge is really cute.
Omg her cutting it in the middle then cutting it even smaller was killlllingggg meeeee. Sooooo much waste!!! Like who starts in the center!! Crazy! My ocd could neverrrrr. Haha. ❤
To keep from wasting so much wrapping paper by cutting off too much is take your gift and cut off only enough to wrap around the gift. Then pull up one end to just the top of the end and cut the other end about an inch past that end. Then center the package on the wrapping paper and there should be just the right amount of paper with no waste.
Yes, I wanted to comment on the waste in several hacks, but felt like an ogre by mentioning it! It really bothered me, though! 😂 Glad someone else agreed with me.
The wrap you used to wrap around your Christmas tree for storage. Tip, you can buy that wrap at horse tack shops. Comes in lots of colors and way cheaper than in a regular store. It is called vetwrap. We use it a lot for our horses.
I have done the gift wrap hack (1 pattern per kid) the last few years now. I do it so they aren't trying to find their gifts & guess what it is. It has worked great! Then I put a small piece of their paper in the bottom of their stocking so once the stocking is looked through they can start opening gifts.
You can also use liquor boxes that the stores get their wine in for ornaments, or glasses and niknaks if you are moving. You want ones that still have the tops on them. Just put paper towels, newspaper, or napkins in between them for safety.
We have been doing the different color paper for each person for years ❤ We also use a different color for gifts from grandparents or aunts or friends. This way our kids know which gifts are from whom. We have 5 kids and they have autism and it helps a lot. We also number the gifts so they can go search under the tree for their color and number order. This way expectations are managed for autism. This way they get the same level gifts at the same time. So if one got socks..they get socks together or an equal gift at the same time. It is hard for young spectrum children to see a sibling get a stuffed animal when they get new socks at the same time. It's a lot of work but I keep a notebook and cut out a square of their color paper and glue it next to each kids name and number the listed gifts next to each name and paper square. 💖
Hi Liz, I've been making peppermint plates and bowls for several years. It's not necessary to take the candy in and out of the oven. Just put the amount you want in the oven and presto a bowl or plate
Also, I've used cookie dough and baked it around the bowl. The best was using a loaf pan. Covered with double chocolate dough over outside then filled the container with peanut butter cookies!
A table cloth also makes a nice inexpensive tree skirt 😊 FYI....when making a bow if you twist the ribbon instead of the pipe cleaner you'll get a tighter bow 🙃😉😊
For the bows you need to put a tiny triangle cut out of each side before you put the pipe cleaner around it and twist one side then the other. It takes less than a minute and looks so professional
I LOVE the look of the balloon over the ornament!! We are all allergic to latex! But I'm 100% going to look into a latex free alternative. You are so creative!
When my Grand Children were small, I picked Christmas wrap in the design in their favorite interest. My oldest Granddaughter loved polka dots, and whatever the others were interested in or liked.
Tree bags are the way to go when storing a tree you have to take apart. I'm fortunate to have a place to store my trees still together. I used to use trash bags to cover them but now buy the large rolls of plastic wrap. I've even left them decorated with the non-breakable ornaments.
When my boys were still at home we wrapped their gifts as you suggested with each having their own color/design. This was great when you had kids that liked to shake and try to figure out what was in the packages before mom and dad got up. They didn’t know which color/design was theirs!
Truly this was the best Holiday Hack video I have viewed so far, and I have seen many. The ideas and creations were very high end and definitely explained in plain language. Liz has a great relatable helpful attitude. Thank you very much 🎄🎄🎄
You always have great hacks and new DIY’s. I love the simplicity of the decor on you mantle. The Christmas tree shaped napkins are adorable. Have a fabulous Friday! 😊
Thank you for this video. I saw many new ideas. I appreciate all your efforts. For those of you who are critical, hit the stop button. Or better yet, make your own video so we can see all of your ideas. Kindness people!
I was just drooling over your mantle and that section came up in the video! 😂 It is absolutely beautiful ❤ I just Love it! The height of the greenery in the center tapering to each end is so beautiful!! And the pics add so much!! Im screen shotting your mantle and emailing your video to myself so I can try something similar on mine! Thank you for the inspiration ❤❤❤

I could watch your videos all day. You are so creative. I have used your ideas so many times. Happy holidays to you and yours. 🎄🤶🎅🎄❗️ Thanks so much for sharing.
When you do your stockings you can get small plastic ornaments fill with small magnets in the toes. Then you can add your garland hot glue magnets from harbor freight and the magnets 🧲 where the toes meet and waahlaa they’ll stay in place till its time to fill Another option is to take small stuffed animal for each putting a bow with long tails hanging 1/2 out then when you fill them put them sitting above them on the garland. This helps lil ones who cant read to know whoooo is whooooos 🎄🤶🏻🎄
Making bows is trial and error. The most important thing is how does it look to you? I like them fluffy. At the end, I squish all the loops toward the front. They will fall back and be in a perfect place.
This video is full of so many great ideas and hacks. Thank you so much for sharing it with all of us. I was just wondering where you purchased the red blanket with the white reindeer that’s on your sofa that you replaced with the neutral one??? ❤
you don't have to use a pipe cleaner for the ornaments you can put 3 or 4 on a Christmas hook easily, therefore easily hanging them on a tree and no need to wire them to the tree. Love those fold out trees how cute and saves space for storage. great tips and ideas! (tip: much better to use Christmas music w/o words, less annoying)
About fluffing the loops on bows... my mom taught me that you're supposed to start pulling the loops from the inside, not the top (outside). Pull up and twist like you said but you have more room to fluff.
Another great DIY hack is taking your pictures down and wrapping them like a present and putting them back up
Saw this at a restaurant the other day. So cute!
I have used the mattress foam for ornaments but I place 1 on top and on bottom to keep them more secure. Just a thought.

I just use leftover wrapping / tissue paper for storing ornaments.
Great idea!

The tag pipe cleaner gift wrap hack is a great idea; especially, for children and elderly and mentally challenged adults and children. Thanks you.

Oh my gosh this is such a good idea! I am working on a DIY right now where you use the cookie cutters as stamps on tea towels!
@@lizfenwickdiy That sounds pretty, can't wait.
When cutting something like the foam topper, always start at the beginning or end to get the most out of your topper. Same with fabric.
Drives me nuts to watch anyone do this!

It’s not waste if you repurpose it. Crafters usually do.

Common sense I thought.

@@yvonneschermerhorn866 it wasn't waste, each of them had a purpose for the extra
Professional crafters don’t have “waste”…just extras waiting to be repurposed.

Lightly spray your parchment paper with cooking spray prior to baking the peppermint. Then put the bowl on top of the candies and flip that way.

Love the cluster of ornaments idea! Not only does it give it the illusion of a bigger ornament but it looks beautiful.
Thanks!
Me too I am going to do this one for sure!
The ornaments covered with balloons would be good if you are doing a pastel-themed tree where you would need ornaments in an array of colors.

I have used your ideas so many times. Happy holidays to you and yours. 🎄🤶🎅🎄❗️ Thanks so much for sharing.
I loved the little M&M package with the pipe cleaner hack. Wouldn't the little loop make it easy to hang on the tree as an ornament?
Possibly, I am nervous it might rip!
I safety pin the ornaments to the stockings instead of glue, easy to remove and store.
When you do your stockings you can get small plastic ornaments fill with small magnets in the toes. Then you can add your garland hot glue magnets from harbor freight and the magnets 🧲 where the toes meet and waahlaa they’ll stay in place till its time to fill
Another option is to take small stuffed animal for each putting a bow with long tails hanging 1/2 out then when you fill them put them sitting above them on the garland. This helps lil ones who cant read to know whoooo is whooooos 🎄🤶🏻🎄
Thank you for sharing. Awesome ideas.
