Some these comments have been interesting and some purists of tai chi are having a moan but..Im 56, and Ive been stuck on 12-15 handicap for a year. I listened to a podcast about tai chi and golf and then searched it on RUclips. I have picked up the breathing techniques and some basic moves, applied them in practice and on the course.
    Results in weeks.
8-10 handicapper. And Im in New Zealand in August, our winter, come summer I expect lower. Golf is stressful, it just is. Now I follow the breathing techniques and feel much calmer and more balanced.
I don’t know if its “traditional” TaiChi and does it even matter? It works for me. Cheers mate!

People comment because it’s frustrating. Tai chi is so misunderstood because guys like this learn a form, with absolutely no internal work which is what tai chi is all about, and then turn around and teach everyone not telling them that it’s a BS washed down version of something. If you know anything about taiji there’s certain characteristics that the body has, he has none of them

Nice swing Jake....you had a draw stance...so the perfect shot...great that Tai Chi breathing and weight shift can be applied in golf.

Stumbled across these vids which I assume are a spin off of your Shaolin Center. I never thought about applying martial arts to golf and I quite like your instructional vids so far. In terms of your stance what you refer to as an "L shape" I assume is a forward bo stance? It feels right but I would just like to clarify that.

Unfortunately there are principles which differ from Tai Chi to golf and cherry picking can get confusing. Chen Man Ching and his two senior students Ben Lo and Abraham Liu would never recommend some of the over turning you are demonstrating in tai chi as it breaks the kinetic chain and violates a basic premise of the practice imo The separation of shoulders and hips in the golf swing which can create good torque is something you just don't practice in a tai chi studio without getting yelled at by your instructor. You never wave hands like a cloud and then over turn to right and left, its something that beginners commonly do but it breaks the chi chain that you are summoning from the earth. Just some thoughts. Yes of course there are applications that can be used like breathing and rooting but being more careful with the other stuff I think is best. And for creating separation in the golf swing all of the various twisting exercises of basic yoga are much more effective and applicable.

+johnnyboy89able I agree, the kinetic chain looks broken in his swing and thai chi moves. looks like there is a lot of timing involved. Seems like you use your outer thighs too much, instead of your inner calves and up the inner leg and butt.

Nice Tai Chi movement and ability but how to apply it to the driver swing mechanics I see it limited and if your in your 20 or 30 fine but you get over 50 other physical issues come into play base on natural energy use of the body created during aging and its affects. Putting Tai Chi selective forces in relationship to best golf swing mechanics will enhance abilities and enjoyment for you will SWING artfully naturally.
Tai Chi is good in keeping range of shoulder and hip separation abilities but what happens base on age. At his age breath is second after 50 coordinated core breath affects Myofascial range differences between shoulders and hips more for core breath moves energy flow and change areas of body to energy and strength. Create separation between hips and shoulder but then linking and separation and bringing them together during the swing requires core muscle coordination in context of active directed breathing timing. My appoint on his driver swing mechanics is good if your young but will not happen after 50 without lots of effects and low repeatability. His Tai Chi effects are good, bringing them in the effects into the golf swing and game is limited. He will get better in time for aging aid that process.
