I think it’s really interesting. Monsoon is a very apathetic character. Very closed off and cold to the world and an extremely Nihilistic character. But he seems the most augmented out of the winds. Obviously Mistral has her arms and Sam only has the one arm. Sundowner has those panels but monsoon is clearly the least human both physically and mentally. It’s the whole “if you replace every body part with a machine are you still human debate.”
Raiden is entirely machine aside from his brain, though I know what you're going for but it doesn't seem like the intention in design, rather that it was meant to display how much he'd sold his life to Desperado and the PMC life; that there was no going back for him, no redemption of his character he's a prisoner of his own ideologies as much as he is a prisoner of war, they all drove him down a cold, chaotic, relentless path
Yes! Im guessing many people don't take metal gear rising seriously because of how over-the-top it is. I understand though, the game is pretty goofy. But some(not all) people don't seem appreciate the game much, and just enjoy the memes. Kinda sucks
I was guilty of this. I laughed at this game for the memes. A month ago, I found the soundtracks, listened to them, and then bought the game and proceeded to play the best video game I've played in years.
Now in this scene Raiden had become more like gray fox the original cyborg ninja... The way of speak, the way of enjoying the pain... How badass they look... Although i enjoy hearing gray fox's voice in the original metal gear solid the way that he speak like corpse... Both Raiden and gray fox was my favourite characters...
Monsoon really thought he had Jack with his whole social darwinist speech and Jack basically went, "You know what? You're right. Killing's fun, so how about I kill you?"
Internet memes are still memes though. Ideas that are powerful and influential because of their ability to spread so far and so quickly, even transcending generations and becoming immortal.
Raiden journey Mgs 2 : "i was trying to be someone i wasn't by loving what wasn't real" Mgs 4 : " i am lightning, the rain transformed" MGR : " i think its time for jack to let it rip.!" Dude just went from running fools errand into a man who fight for what he believes in (kinda ironic since thats that armstrong wanted)
I like how monsoon and Sam are almost opposites Monsoon has a lot of enhancements and talk a lot ( like a lot a lot) Sam has minimal enhancements and doesn’t talk all too much
this is after mgs2 AND mgs4 (easily recognized by him saying "After the Patriots, (referring to how him and Solid Snake beat the Patriots in mgs4)i thought i could have a normal life.")
Can we just appreciate how smoothly Jack’s VA goes between the Raiden and Ripper voices and how he’s able to convey very different energy for the same character with what is ultimately a slight tweak?
The fact Sam knew that he just changed on the spot and ordered the guards to quickly finish him off speaks volumes to how much Jac The Ripper is a threat.
A quote i remember if someone can tell me where its from it'd be appreciated. "I beseech thee villian. attack them, Taunt them, ridicule them, KILL them. But never, NEVER take everything away from the hero. For when you've taken everything, their friends their family their ideals, then they will become something worse than you villain. Worse than you can imagine. They will become a monster. And no one. Not you, the forces of good, the demons and magic creatures of the land, not even the gods themselves! will be able to stop them." This quote rings in my head everytime I see this exact scene and I i cant tell if it makes it more epic or more scary.
Legit though, I have no idea how this guy ended up in my dreams last night. I dreamed he worked as a basic employee at some reception hall, and was moving around chairs in the main hall, setting up for an event.
A little detail I find intensely powerful is how when monsoon orders his goon to attack Raiden, you can see Raiden mutter “No!”. He knows how destructive and psychopathic Jack is, and he genuinely doesn’t want him to be unleashed, practically begging them to not allow such a thing to happen. But when the pain of battle overwhelms him, Raiden disappears altogether, and the ripper is the only one left to wreak destruction and death on those around him. Powerful stuff.
It's pretty hard to tell, but I think it was Sam who said no, not Raiden. Sam wanted to fight Raiden since the start of the game, so it makes perfect sense
*"That nickname you love so much...wanna know how I got it?"* *"Actually, why don't I give you a demonstration."* *"I think it's time for Jack..."* *"TO LET HER RIP!"*
I feel like by the end of this game, Raiden managed to achieve an equilibrium he feared he wouldn't be able to have if he ever let the Ripper out. He maintains the purpose and justice of Raiden, but brongs out every last bit of himself by relishing in the kill as Jack the Ripper. He lived as Raiden long enough for both to truly be him and coexist instead of Jack the Ripper taking over entirely
Monsoon says “you lost your mind” like jack went crazy in front of him. Jack has been crazy before he hit puberty, hes just really good and keeping The Ripper in check.

Raiden is entirely machine aside from his brain, though
I know what you're going for but it doesn't seem like the intention in design, rather that it was meant to display how much he'd sold his life to Desperado and the PMC life; that there was no going back for him, no redemption of his character
he's a prisoner of his own ideologies as much as he is a prisoner of war, they all drove him down a cold, chaotic, relentless path
Raiden speech and monologue was thrilling and I loved it
it sucks that people misinterpret his speech so much, it's been memed to death and you don't really see it as a crucial aspect in the story anymore

1:40 And thus, the most legendary concept embodiment was born.
Monsoon is so flamboyant, he wears heels like a true chad.
Monsoon really thought he had Jack with his whole social darwinist speech and Jack basically went, "You know what? You're right. Killing's fun, so how about I kill you?"
Hey look, someone remembers back when memes didn't refer to internet memes.
Internet memes are still memes though. Ideas that are powerful and influential because of their ability to spread so far and so quickly, even transcending generations and becoming immortal.
Fun fact: you cannot skip Monsoon’s speech, not that you would want to
The Virgin: Tyrian Callows
Vs.
The Chad: Monsoon, of the Winds of Destruction
it's weird seeing "meme" used in its original meaning when now the word has been reduced to simply being synonymous with "joke" or "funny thing"
For that grunt having his face being covered he showed so much emotion in his minimal screentime
Monsoon is pretty powerful he survived so much when raiden was in ripper mode
theres a soilder petting a cat during the 1st person view to your right....
Raiden journey
Mgs 2 : "i was trying to be someone i wasn't by loving what wasn't real"
Mgs 4 : " i am lightning, the rain transformed"
MGR : " i think its time for jack to let it rip.!"
Dude just went from running fools errand into a man who fight for what he believes in (kinda ironic since thats that armstrong wanted)
I like how monsoon and Sam are almost opposites
Monsoon has a lot of enhancements and talk a lot ( like a lot a lot)
Sam has minimal enhancements and doesn’t talk all too much
When I first saw Jack become Jack the Ripper my reaction was "Where were you in Metal Gear Solid 2?"
this is after mgs2 AND mgs4 (easily recognized by him saying "After the Patriots, (referring to how him and Solid Snake beat the Patriots in mgs4)i thought i could have a normal life.")
Buried deep inside of him
@@rbraunbeck96 if only he let it out in MGS2 I would have loved his character.
If you think about it, before "Among Us" was released, the word "sus" was fairly unused compared to after.
I don't know why the way monsoon's hips just jiggle wiggle at 0:33 is so funny to me
😳hips don't lie
I really wish we got more Monsoon. He’s such a badass character.
the meme man is coming back
I learned young that killing your enemies felt bad. Really bad. *starts crying*
5:38 Underrated line.
Grass grows, sun shines and brother I hurt people
Wind blows, rain falls and the strong prey upon the weak
It's all coming together
Can we just appreciate how smoothly Jack’s VA goes between the Raiden and Ripper voices and how he’s able to convey very different energy for the same character with what is ultimately a slight tweak?
Monsoon: We're the same you and I!
Raiden: *goes bonkers*
Monsoon: No wait not like that
"Now there's a pretty meme. Exquisite!"
Now this line is a meme. Exquisite!
"I think It's time for jack... to let er rip!" has to be one of the exciting quotes especially when cool ass music is there after it
I get an adrenaline rush every time I hear it, it’s so fucking cool.
The fact Sam knew that he just changed on the spot and ordered the guards to quickly finish him off speaks volumes to how much Jac The Ripper is a threat.
I have never played this game but I was definitely not expecting the bad guy to go on a rant about memes
7:04 god damn that guitar shredding as Monsoon smiles at the start of the fight gives me goosebumps every time
A quote i remember if someone can tell me where its from it'd be appreciated.
"I beseech thee villian. attack them, Taunt them, ridicule them, KILL them. But never, NEVER take everything away from the hero. For when you've taken everything, their friends their family their ideals, then they will become something worse than you villain. Worse than you can imagine. They will become a monster. And no one. Not you, the forces of good, the demons and magic creatures of the land, not even the gods themselves! will be able to stop them."
This quote rings in my head everytime I see this exact scene and I i cant tell if it makes it more epic or more scary.
Fav cutscene in the game
5:20 do you know this soundtrack name please?
Europe's meme ban final boss
Sam and Monsoon really did the most epic callout collab in history.
When I first played the game monsoon almost made me throw my pc against the wall

Jack in this game is the jack he was hiding from everyone in mgs2 and mgs4. The little boy who loved to kill, now a grown up.......
Bro monsoon has the same voice actor as scarecrow in arkham asylum
As a son of Khmer Rouge survivors, I can most definitely justify his viewpoints?
Love a miniseries about the Winds of Destructions origins and the missions they went on before meeting their end in this game
You can’t fight nature, Jack. Wind blows, rain falls, and the strong prey upon the weak.
Legit though, I have no idea how this guy ended up in my dreams last night. I dreamed he worked as a basic employee at some reception hall, and was moving around chairs in the main hall, setting up for an event.
Now that's a pretty meme. Exquisite!
the alternative metal gear rising ending where everyone in desperado became better people
When monsoon says "Kill him!" i never noticed jack whispering "no"
I thought that was just the minion since Sam made Raiden hear their inner thoughts
Love that smile monsoon made at the end
A little detail I find intensely powerful is how when monsoon orders his goon to attack Raiden, you can see Raiden mutter “No!”. He knows how destructive and psychopathic Jack is, and he genuinely doesn’t want him to be unleashed, practically begging them to not allow such a thing to happen. But when the pain of battle overwhelms him, Raiden disappears altogether, and the ripper is the only one left to wreak destruction and death on those around him. Powerful stuff.
It's pretty hard to tell, but I think it was Sam who said no, not Raiden. Sam wanted to fight Raiden since the start of the game, so it makes perfect sense
after watching maxors video I cant see monsoon's introduction and not think "of the sussy impostors"
Why does no one talk about how smooth Raiden's -fight with- murder of the Desperado mercs is?

Quinton is such a good voice actor in all his games
Ironic how his name is monsoon and the fight takes place during a storm
I feel like by the end of this game, Raiden managed to achieve an equilibrium he feared he wouldn't be able to have if he ever let the Ripper out. He maintains the purpose and justice of Raiden, but brongs out every last bit of himself by relishing in the kill as Jack the Ripper. He lived as Raiden long enough for both to truly be him and coexist instead of Jack the Ripper taking over entirely
Monsoon says “you lost your mind” like jack went crazy in front of him. Jack has been crazy before he hit puberty, hes just really good and keeping The Ripper in check.
This sequence is basically a tutorial on what to do when some tool on the internet gets all "debate me" in your mentions.
