    I like how Persona 5 just came in the dark chapters of our lives😅 like i was kinda depressed one day before playing it and i went through it COMPLETELY blind i had no knowledge on what it would be, I played it for 3 months and it's safe to say that the phantom thieves of hearts stole my heart, I am a completely different person now like for real that game gave me a whole new mindset and point of view on the world and that's not the only thing that made me like it i mean come on there are tons of other things like the story characters and music, I just love this game and the bonds i made and strengthened while playing it were not only fictional, They were real to me and that's why whenever i feel like i need help but no one is there i look up to the phantom thieves.
    This game is a masterpiece.

    Wow... your video is just spectacular. My story of this game is completely opposite of yours. I started playing it right when I started my freshman year in high school. And it shaped who I was at the time and it still does. How you feel about this game is so so relatable to me and so many people. There's friends I would have never made. And things I would've never done if it weren't for this game. I'm currently a Sophomore soon to be a junior in high school. And I'm so happy with the things I've seen and done with my life. And what this game has gave me is nothing short of beauty. I honestly don't know who or where I'd be without this game. I sometimes get worried about what I'm going to do after HS just how you said. But when I worry about it I think of what Persona 5 taught me. And that's to keep moving forward and finding what you love in life. Just remember your not alone me and so many others resonate with you and your experience. Videogames are a crazy thing and I wouldn't be who I am without them. Amazing video much love and pancakes for you. And don't ever forget to Take your Time❤

    I also keep this game close to my heart, but for another reason. It was close to a time of an euthanasia I went through for a stray kitten that I had recently took in, due to severe neurological FIP. Unfortunately, we couldn't come through to the other end since its condition worsened in the few brief days before the procedure itself. Shortly after that, I decided to give it a try and sunk about 106 hours into the vanilla version in about 2 weeks, as that was the only one I had access to at the time. Definitely one of the most amazing and memorable experiences I've had, and that's not even engaging in most of the side content. About the English VA, hands down the best in any jRPG. They nailed each and every scene.

    I’m 53 and haven’t played many JRPGs, but since this was added to Xbox GamePass, I figured i would try it out.
    It’s quite impressive. My only complaint is that the dialogue is often not written well. But this could be a style that is common with anime or manga. I’m not sure. In any case, it’s still a very fun, if unique, experience.

      I think dialouge like this is par for the course in most games like this, in my eyes I don't really mind it seeing as these are highschool students haha. Still the fact you are interested in a JRPG like this at 53 is amazing and I hope you have a good time with this one!

    When I first played persona 5 I felt jaded and like I was stuck in a negative loop. I was struggling in college and in life. I had grown a really distorted perception of my entire life after discovering really uncomfortable truths simultaneously about the past which was impacting the present, I strangely had just read Carl Jung before I played persona 5 and became obsessed with his work on the shadow, the unconscious and the persona and I was already sold on the game when I saw these concepts were built into its design as well as its visual and musical aesthetic but when I got to Yusuke’s arc, the emotional resonance I felt elevated this game and then when I got to Futaba’s arc for similar reasons but even more so this game became the greatest game I’ve ever played and one of my favourite pieces of media. I related so much to Yusuke and Futaba but particularly Futaba. My mother was the centre of my world and when she died I struggled with guilt and depression and am autistic so it made me even more isolated than I already felt, my dad left after she died and a year after they both died I learned how my entire understanding of my childhood and who they were was entirely fiction, other things happened too and I went through months of not knowing who to trust and having a completely skewed and dark view of reality. Seeing Futaba overcome her distortion still deeply affects me when I think about it. This game really came at the right time for me and I will always love it.

    Video games are, indeed, pretty cool! What a heartfelt video. I would love to hear more about how P5 helped you with managing time if you wouldn't mind it. I've had many pieces of media change and motivate me over the years, especially since I started appreciating media in general as art rather than just a product to be consumed, and I think it's outright fascinating to hear people talk about how they have been influenced!

    Wonderful video, and I’d like to share my side as well.
    I finished P5R earlier this year on PS5 before the update. I had known some of the well spoiled moments, though mostly out of context (good ol pancake boy), but the majority of the details were missing. I had wanted to play it for ages, as what I’d seen really spoke to me. It dragged me through the highs and lows, and I still think about it on the regular, even after eventually starting P4G.
    I was, and still am, at a similar transitional phase. Not nessicarily the end, but the almost there. Persona 5 Royal changed that. It’s no longer “almost there”, it’s about enjoying the time I have left before the shift. I took “take your time” to heart. I’ve found myself going out of my way more to communicate with friends. I’d consider myself more open in general, actually. More than ever before Ive felt determined to actually find something I want to do next. Before, it was just waiting for the day to end, but now, I’m actually trying to live through it.
    Call it corny, but I feel that the phantom thieves stole my heart. I wouldn’t say it solved every problem, but I feel my life has been changed for the better. Over the course of this year, P5R became my favorite video game of all time. I can’t wait to see if it does the same for so many others with the new ports.
    Sorry for the rant and all, but you got me inspired to write this out. Genuinely really great video.

      I relate in a lot areas and regardless of how we ended up as fans of Persona, what matters is that we both find a deeper meaning in this work of art. I surely can't type that much due to just now waking up, but keep enjoying Persona

    I’m not really sure if this is similar to you, I brought P5R around June this year when I was in a bad place mentally, this game helped me a lot but im not sure why, I might have had something to do with transition from college to university or the loneliness caused by my isolation but I can look back on it with at least a glimmer of hope. I am still dealing with the isolation and haven’t fully finished the game yet mainly because of time and other responsibilities but it was good that it acted as an escape from what I was feeling, I even got to apply some of it to my work.

    I've heard that Royal balanced things to be too easy in some areas. Is there an option to enable the original difficulty?

    • @VirtualMementos
      @VirtualMementos  Год назад +1

      Their might be a better hard mode mod being made but last time I checked no. I would try to look into Gamebanana for any mods that could sort of bring that back. I have personal gripes with the difficulty at points where I feel like some parts were harder than before but some were much easier. Regardless it's a great JRPG tho

    • @HyenaFox
      @HyenaFox Год назад +2

      Imo no, because the problem isn't actually that Royal rebalanced things (a lot of things are actually significantly more challenging on paper in Royal), it's just that they give you way more options now. The balance imo is better in Royal (Technical damage is more useful, so especially in the later game, there are way more enemies with no weaknesses that really force you to use ailments and technical damage in a way the original didn't). But now you have Persona traits and far more ways to create crazy personas, as well as showtime attacks, and Baton Passes are better in Royal.
      My advice would be play on Hard, it's technically the hardest difficulty in Royal, as they changed Merciless (Merciless ups the crit/weakness damage a ton, actually making the game significantly easier than Hard mode).

    Persona 5 is a weird one for me. When I played vanilla P5, I was absolutely smitten with it. Years pass, and I played Royal and suddenly all the flaws were so much more apparent. The inconsistent plot, the sometimes cringey dialogue and especially the way Akechi was handled... I wasn't feeling it nearly as much.
    Idk, I think I might be outgrowing JRPGs. The genre used to be my life in my high school and college years, but these days they just aren't clicking with me like they used to.
    P5 has phenomenal presentation, a great sound track and a fantastic gameplay loop for sure. No one can take that from it. On a technical level, P5 is a masterwork but idk. Can't vibe with it the same way I did back in 2016

      You are right and while I still enjoy the game despite those weakpoints, it's one of the rare times I don't let that bog down a game fully. While it did not impact me as much as it did to you it definitely changed my taste. Before I only played games that were very easy to pick up and had little to no story like smash bros, street fighter, call of duty cause. After a friend practically begged me to play persona 4 golden I finally picked it up at GameStop for 20 bucks and was immediately hooked. I never spent more than maybe 20 hours max on a game and that was for Pokémon but then I saw myself sinking over 100 on persona 4 which then I had to play 3 and then the newly released 5 even led me to play one of my all time favorites now which is fire emblem. Really changed my perspective on what video games can be as a medium. And as someone that also creates videos based on video games they are indeed great 👍
