He keeps saying animations on iOS are smoother but actually they are just slower. If somebody wants a similar experience on Android he just has to go into developer setting and turn animations to 2x, by default they are at 1x. I usually like Android's quickness more than the slow animations on iOS.
They’re smoother because they’re coded to not drop frames in favor of speed. UI elements always take priority on iOS, where as on android the UI is on its own separate sub system. This is not an issue of performance it’s simply a matter of design.
@@ILoveGrilledCheese I didn't say anywhere that it's an issue of performance, it's not like UI animations on Android are coded to drop frames on purpose or something. My personal opinion really comparing any phone with apple devices now is like apples and oranges. You have android with a lot more capabilities in editing your phone to how you like but with apps it’s harder to optimize for so many different phones running the same OS. Meanwhile the IPhone is polished that’s why it runs so smoothly, its obvious iPhone is not trying to be “snappy” they want the best optimized things even if that’s slows times down by .2 of a second. Then plus the ecosystem that runs basically perfect with all there other devices. For me I think the iPhone has been in the lead for a long time for those reasons but it’s all personal preference I can understand someone wanting it to be all snappy and wanting a more editable OS. I just don’t think these can be properly compared at this point
I totally agree. We all know Apple & Samsung make really nice phones. I kinda lowkey hate these type of videos. I actually like JerryRigEverything when it comes to how durable the phones are.

I just switched from a Galaxy S20 Ultra to the iPhone 13 Pro Max to give Apple a try and so far I'm liking the iPhone a lot. The battery life seems a bit better on the iPhone, the Face ID is much better, it also integrates better with my car infotainment center.
Interesting, could an argument be made that Android uses the Chip better, optimizes it better. Since Apple A15, looks way faster on Geekbench, like it crushed Qualcomm. 1730 for single core is pretty impressive against 629. And 4715 multi against 3152. But somehow the S21 manages to keep up and beat the iPhone in certain scenarios, like that itself is impressive when the Qualcomm chip is inferior. Also for the iPhone, I believe if you flick your finger slow to medium, the refresh rate can go up to 90hz, and if you flick fast the refresh rate can go up to 120hz. Honestly, I prefer the fast scrolling on the S21, the iPhone looks like it is doing a slow animation when scrolling, making it seem a bit slower. Just my 2 cents.
If you work with video, export, et-al there is no contest! A15 FTW. Just about everything else feels the same TBH. 13 Pro Max, S21 Ultra, and Fold 3 owner here.
Apple's phones were way faster than Android phones on opening apps several years ago (with similar CPU benchmark scores), but now Apple's phones are similar with Android phones, sometimes beat by Android phones, on opening apps (with way faster CPU benchmark scores).
I have both. The iPhone 13 pro max does not in anyway shape or form come close to the speed of the s21 ultra. It almost feels as if it doesn’t have 120hz refresh rate. It’ll be really obvious to those that have the opportunity to compare
I just picked up my iPhone 13 pro max and I also currently have the s21 ultra. I feel the iPhone is very smooth but slowed down because of the animation speed of the software. Not sure the s21 ultra is the biggest competitor to the new iPhone pro lineup . I’d say the Xiaomi mi 11 ultra was even smoother and faster than the s21 ultra.
Look, my friend, at the iPhone 13 Pro. He challenged the Samsung 21 Ultra, which carries 12 RAM.. While the iPhone only had 6 RAM, the difference was a few seconds. Imagine what an iPhone would be like if it had 12 RAM.
It's optimized, if an iphone had no optimization it would probably run like a potato. That's why social media is best on iPhone since they get optimized. I honestly think on an iphone specifically 12 gb of ram would be pointless, but pretty cool nonetheless
Just saying that the Safari test was kind of unfair. I assume that you kept setting at their default. Which means preload pages turned on. Meaning that the moment you stop typing the url, Safari will already try to fetch the website so it should be loading faster. You shouldn't be surprised that the A15 is performing worse in lightweight apps, it either has to do with the devs not taking full advantage of the chip or maybe Apple limits lightweight apps to run too fast for like better battery performance(I don't think that is the case just an interesting opinion), but when you use heavy apps like 3D benchmark or very intensive apps which require a lot of cpu and gpu use the A15 performs better by a mile. Either way always interesting to see these kinds of comparisons.

You SHOULD have the right to have YOUR device repaired where YOU choose. As well as have options, I know Apple is not the only offender but one of the most vocal.
That’s when the phones are new. The 13 pro max is brand new and his s21 ultra is old. Phones get slow over time. Even I dont get the same or similar score on my iphone 11 Geekbench like before when it was new, it was faster. All these depends on how many apps you have, your photos, your battery degradation etc.
@@sayemak99 CPU's never age or degrade, its a myth and has been busted a a long time, your iP11 is probably slow due to Apple slowing it down because of battery degradation.
@@sayemak99 Software, newer and more complex software requires more processing horsepower. But if you noticed something as a iPhone user, 1st party apps do not slow down over time, its because they are well optimised for the respective SoC and they really dont bring major updates to those, the same old apps you got when you bought the device, this is also the reason why Apple is ahead in software updates, they really dont change much of their software at all unlike Android in which most revisions require a major overhaul to kernel, device trees etc.
iPhone 13 Pro Max crushes the Galaxy S21 Ultra. I think it is incorrect and does not apply to the comparison that we saw.. Galaxy eight months ago and a new iPhone, however, the Galaxy outperformed a lot. Could you explain to us what is the meaning of crushing?
If you want to make the s21 ultra smoother you can enable developer option and make all animation on 1.5x with 120hz enable restart you phone and see, its great 👍
Based on what apple "claimed" when they introduced the iP13, I genuinely expected better performance. The truth is, the OS's of each are far more similar than they are different, especially in how well they perform. Whenever someone claims their phone can open up an app five-tenths of a second sooner than my phone, I'm like, "wow, congrats, I'm sure you're productivity is light years ahead of mine."
Best is subjective at this point. Best is which works best based off your preference, whether you prefer ios or Android. Or even unique features to each.
Well to be fair to Apple the S21 Ultra is a BEAST. It's literally a pocket size laptop pretending to be a phone. I think a more fair comparison for the Iphone 13 Pro Max would be the S21 plus. The GeekBench stuff has no real world value to average users anyway. Actually your videos would have way more value to the average person than the Geekbench stuff because powerful hardware doesn't always translate over to your app's performance which is all anybody really cares about.

Real world performance always has been Android devices. If I owned the S21 ultra I won't even be looking at an IPhone because they are pretty comparable.
I think A15 is just a bit overpowered for day to day use . But again iPhone will last longer than any smartphones out there anyway .

The s21 will choke when you export a 4k video because the cpu and gpu are trash. There is a reason the iPhone scores so high in benchmarks because it is a beast
I really like the iPhone screen but Samsung screens are just at another level.
The iPhone 13 Pro Max apps have NOT yet been updated yet. You can’t compare the older optimized apps on the S21. Wait a month then do a fair comparison.

He keeps saying animations on iOS are smoother but actually they are just slower. If somebody wants a similar experience on Android he just has to go into developer setting and turn animations to 2x, by default they are at 1x.
I usually like Android's quickness more than the slow animations on iOS.
Just wait a couple of years to get them “slower” (lugging) on Android phone while the animations stay the same smooth on the iPhone
@@dbass1975 You don't make sense.
The idea is that of couse if you stall animations they will give the impression of being smoother but phones with decent hardware can handle faster animations no problem and without frame drops.

I can’t wait to get my 13 pro max because my dad gonna buy it this week for my achievements on scoring straight As 😭
Great job! Keep it up 👍
Congratulations !!!!
I think at this point both of these phones are so fast it doesnt matter. I think the real test is how they hold up in 2-3 years
I totally agree. We all know Apple & Samsung make really nice phones. I kinda lowkey hate these type of videos. I actually like JerryRigEverything when it comes to how durable the phones are.
Would love to see speed test between 12 Pro Max & 13 Pro Max.
One of these phones has had numerous updates since launch and one has just launched.
Then one of these phones is more than half a year older😂. Dont be a sheep brw. Everyone knows ios is very well optimised for the latest i phones, so your point is irrelevant.
@@shreyass2447 Your statement makes no sense. Every phone has updates to the software and each updates enhances the experience. iOS 15 will receive updates as does the S21 Ultra. I got my S21 Ultra at launch and the camera was pants, OneUI kept crashing and it loading some apps was slow. Guess what? A few updates later and it was running much better.
@@funkam0nkey Every one knows ios is better optimised than samsung. In an iphone there is not much difference in performance in post release updates unlike samsung where they really improve performances. I know because I have an s10 and iphone 12. @@shreyass2447 each iOS updates bring improvements to performance and security. I’m part of the development beta programme and provide app feedback to Apple on a regular basis as well as being an active member of dev forums.
iOS 15.1 beta 1 has improved performance in 3rd party apps, better ram management and battery improvements already. Every bench mark shows the 13 range to be faster than any android device. Once the updates bring stability to performance across the board, you will see a marked improvement on a day to day basis.
@@funkam0nkey i am not talking about benchmarks. Benchmarks are always ruled by apple. What I mean is that the common users would not even notice the improvements after each and every update. You can see that in this speed test.
I just switched from a Galaxy S20 Ultra to the iPhone 13 Pro Max to give Apple a try and so far I'm liking the iPhone a lot. The battery life seems a bit better on the iPhone, the Face ID is much better, it also integrates better with my car infotainment center.
battery on iPhone 13 pro max is much better than S20 ultra
Well that is the S20 Ultra loool. "I just switched from my Xbox 360 to PS5 and it's sooo much more powerful"

Just my 2 cents.
hmm apple shud let us choose what we want 120hz locked or adaptive
I prefer S21 too
*iPhone opens almost always faster*

So true
If you work with video, export, et-al there is no contest! A15 FTW. Just about everything else feels the same TBH. 13 Pro Max, S21 Ultra, and Fold 3 owner here.
I never understood the speed test by opening apps. There's so many variables at play.
That’s only one part of this test
Why you don't understand? M1 Macs are way faster than their Intel versions on opening apps, it is a important metrics to show the performance.
Apple's phones were way faster than Android phones on opening apps several years ago (with similar CPU benchmark scores), but now Apple's phones are similar with Android phones, sometimes beat by Android phones, on opening apps (with way faster CPU benchmark scores).
This shows that Android's application layer is way optimized than iOS'.
Great video, I'd also be curious on data speeds. If one or the other has better 4G, 5G, and WiFi antennas / modems.
Will think about putting that test in our next video

I have both. The iPhone 13 pro max does not in anyway shape or form come close to the speed of the s21 ultra. It almost feels as if it doesn’t have 120hz refresh rate. It’ll be really obvious to those that have the opportunity to compare
Lol it’s always an army of android phones vs one ios phone…. Very funny😆.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👌
Just saying that the Safari test was kind of unfair. I assume that you kept setting at their default. Which means preload pages turned on. Meaning that the moment you stop typing the url, Safari will already try to fetch the website so it should be loading faster. I suspect it would be much slower if you typed the url on the s21 ultra first.

Hey nick! Is it possible for you to make speed tests between the iPhone 13 pro and some older iPhones like the 11 pro or xs?
Can't support a company that is leading the fight against "Right to Repair". Some people may not care, seem like auto manufacturers are joining Apple & Co. also. You SHOULD have the right to have YOUR device repaired where YOU choose. As well as have options, I know Apple is not the only offender but one of the most vocal.
Microsoft, Google and Tesla are also leading it.
Im so into samsung🥴🥴🥴
Single core result is way too low. On the s21ultra exynos model the single core score is over 1050 points.
@@RandomGuy-om1vy if cpu’s dont degrade then why do old pc’s and laptops get slow?

Based on what apple "claimed" when they introduced the iP13, I genuinely expected better performance. The truth is, the OS's of each are far more similar than they are different, especially in how well they perform. Whenever someone claims their phone can open up an app five-tenths of a second sooner than my phone, I'm like, "wow, congrats, I'm sure you're productivity is light years ahead of mine."

The plus and ultra have same processor...
